Re maternity clothes - my friend who is now 21 weeks advised looking ASAP as you have to order most things online and it's hard to find things that fit. Gutted to hear about high necklines. Is this some kind of societal fear of sexy pregnant woman? The girls have never felt so bad or looked so good. Was certainly hoping to find something low cleavage for a wedding in August to distract people from my by then possibly fat feet. We heard that DH's first wife will be there which will be the first time I've met her. JOY.

Fallen Archer - double thanks for the info. Off to look at it all now. My grandmother had all hers at home. DH was worried about mess but midwife explained they clean all that up (need to decide whether to go for birthing pool or not). He clearly realised I wasn't going to be springing up with infant in one hand and j-cloth in other.
Lilmiss, in a moment of madness last year I made Mr P buy me this dress: http://www.tiffanyrose.com/maternity/clothing/FLDB/Flutter-Lace-Maternity-Dress.html off Ebay for about £65 (originally £145). Yes it's a lot of money but when I'm done with it I'll sell it on and think I'll get the money back. Thankfully I now have an evening reception to go to in June where I can wear it. I also love this dress: http://www.tiffanyrose.com/maternity/clothing/ROSV/Rosa-Maternity-Dress-%28Vintage-Blush%29.html which meets your cleavage requirements, and you'll look better than the X.

My friend had her second in a paddling pool at their rental home. Her DH poured the water on the flowers after.

Good luck Daisie and well done all the other ladies whose scans went well. Only 13 days until my next scan.

Is everyone carrying around their green booklet? Last time I was told off for not taking it EVERYWHERE with me. I thought I only had to make sure I took it to appointments. But oh no. So now I need to find a new work bag for it to fit into. My big bags are too heavy to carry at the moment so I switched to an over body satchel and it won't fit in.
    Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

I will go to the ball! Apparently she is flat chested so I feel my advantage will be my boobs so will do my self confidence a world of good.

Yes I forgot about that. It's in case something happens when you're away from it, they can look at and know what your history is. Might keep in car boot on work days perhaps.

Good luck for your scan today daisiegg.

I'm worrying about money but luckily I have a pretty good maternity scheme at work. My DH is in retail so only on minimum wage and we've discussed him dropping down to part time and becoming house husband as he does all the cooking and cleaning anyway so may as well. Plus I am the main earner so makes sense for me to go back but am hoping to drop down to 4 days.

My main concern for money at the moment is actually affording all things that are needed for a baby not just what we want for it so I've decided that the overpayments I was going to make will now be saved towards furniture, pram, maternity clothes, etc. Luckily I just paid off one CC and the other one is still 0% for 23 months so it's not too bad.

Feeling a bit weird today, not really with it and keeping getting a bit dizzy when I turn my head quickly etc. Can't wait for my midwife appointment on Monday to discuss it with her.

Hope you're all having good days.

Well girls my scan was AMAZING! I can't stop beaming :)

We have a very very naughty wriggly little baby that would not keep still for a second. We were in there for over an hour and ended up having to have an internal because they just could not get a good enough view to do all the measurements and stuff as it was moving so quickly! As a result the pictures are really blurry and not very good, but we saw a lot of amazing stuff on the screen....just it moved too fast to get a good picture! At one point it was upside down with its legs crossed and its arms waving around. It was just wriggling and leaping around like crazy, it was amazing.

Anyway, we were dated at 12+1 so EDD is now 2nd October. It has everything in the right place and all looking good. She spent ages on the heart and also showed us all the different organs and the spine and the nasal bone and all sorts. We are soooooo happy. :) we went straight to Mothercare and bought a Moses basket - hubby would not let me go into Mothercare until today! We then went and picked up my new car. So all in all it has been a fantastic day!

I guess it is time for me to move up....thank you so much for all the support and generally being lovely. See you all soon!

Same - I'd like to go to 4 days and it's buying the stuff needed that's a worry. We have a 0% until Feb but bought a new kitchen in November that will need paying this November  However one of the reasons we have this house is that there is room for lodgers so we have rented 2 rooms out with the plan of them paying off the kitchen in the next 6 months, my money being our mortgage and bills, and hubby's when he gets one being baby stuff and food/petrol when my money starts to run out. We threw all our savings into the house.

Ah babies, they come when they come - there's never a 'right' time. It's more something I'm turning over in my mind as I think we will be ok and it couldn't be more right than with the man I love :o

Lemon, I can't believe you can't have a day off until you start maternity leave. Surely they can't keep you to that now.

I read an interpretation of the maternity legislation it said something along the lines of if you are exhausted work have to give you somewhere to rest and lay down. I'm not sure if the last bit is true.

Anyway, if they have to give us time to rest surely they have to give you a day off.

Hi, I'm sure i'll be able to have the odd day off here and there but probably very few and far between. I used to work somewhere where If you had time of in a certain 6 week period you would get a formal warning and possibly sacked, but they're not so bad at this place. It's the joys of year end and having to prepare Statutory accounts I guess.

Told my manager today and the rest of the team, I could certainly see the timing issue ticking though heads though they tried to hide it. Maybe I'm just feeling too guilty at the moment that it's at a bad time.

I took mine to a conference in London this week, but am certainly not carrying it around everywhere, thought we only had to take it if we weren't likely to head to our own hospitals if something were to happen, I'm happy to be corrected though.

Hi this sounds so much like me, I'm the main breadwinner so will have to go back to work full time, but today broached the idea of compressing my hours when I do go back. OH will be the SAHD which he's more than happy about but will hopefully worked part time.
I am worried about covering the costs of everything and also covering the money that I will lose on maternity leave, my place do pay half pay for 12 weeks but I know I won't be able to stay off for a day longer than that, and we're going to have to be very careful. I'm pretty practiced at being careful because I had to be for about 6-7 years whilst I cleared my debt but OH is terrible at cutting back and not wasting money, his favourite phase is 'it only cost a pound or so!' can't get him to see that they all add up.

    Hope you're feeling better now.

Do we have the same OHs???? Mine is exactly the same. I've tried to teach him the oh my god principle of buying which is if you go oh my god when you see something and you confirm it's impossible to find it cheaper elsewhere then it's okay to buy it. After 7.5 years he's still struggling with this but won't let me take over all the money and just give him an allowance. Would be so much easier if he let me control the money :rotfl:

I get 6 months reducing pay maternity and then smp for the next 6 months. I'm going to have at least 8 months off but mainly cos we're going to Oz in June next year to surprise my sister for her birthday so figured it's easier to stay on maternity leave until after the holiday plus all my holidays and bank holidays accrue whilst on maternity so will be able to go back on reduced hours just using holidays.

Thanks am feeling better now it keeps happening so is a bit worrying but I'm just making sure that I keep eating little and often and that seems to help.
