Every October I have a major project. I don't dare take a day off in August, September or October. But this year they will have to do it without me. Actually they could bring it forward to September to give me a stressful leaving present.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Peonie, after my manager agreeing to my taking some leave in June (which I've now cancelled and lost the deposit on) I was told that I can't really take time off between effectively Feb - Mar in old job and Apr-Sept in new job because of the deadlines. I'm used to deadlines don't get me wrong but it's impossible to contemplate no leave for that long, and I'm not really supposed to even take the odd day off which I know I am going to have to do otherwise I will fall over, I'm already giving all my energy to work so I'm the walking dead when I get home but that would just be even worse.
heavens I no longer make any sense at all!0 -
BadlyWrittenPoem wrote: »I have lots of reasons for choosing homebirth:
- lower rate of complication/intervention
- better level of MW care (the MWs are only looking after you whereas when I gave birth in the hospital the MW virtually only came to see me when DH went to find her and I ended up with interventions because of MW inattention)
- probably better MWs (I figure those attending homebirths are more likely to be competent and capable of thinking for themselves; when I gave birth in hospital *every* time I was given any medication the MW went to check with the Dr whether I should have a lower dose because I am thin even though my height means that I am actually above average weight and the default seemed to be run to the Dr rather than think for themselves)
- more chance of having my wishes respected and less chance of having things done to me without my consent as the MWs are guests in *my* home rather than me being at *their* workplace
- lower need for pain relief (which hence reduces risk of complications, interventions etc.)
- home is a nicer environment (when I had a homebirth I got to have everything set up how *I* wanted things e.g. low lighting and I was in a familiar place and the MWs had time to attend to me whereas at hospital I felt like I was considered an inconvenience and I had people charging into my room without checking first and with no explanation or good reason)
- home is more practical (DH is really bad at getting ready to go out when under pressure so based on how long he took the first time from when I said, "I want to go to hospital *now*", we would have ended up having a homebirth last time even if we hadn't planned it plus with the children it's more convenient to just be at home rather than have to faff about with arrangements especially if it's overnight and they're in bed sleeping)
- after the birth the whole family gets to stay together instead of having to be separated for extended periods of time due to limitations on visiting
- I would not want to give birth in my local hospital due to a very negative experience I had as an antenatal inpatient and as I am so close to that hospital the next nearest options are not that close by
Jeez I'm behind. Hysterical with tiredness having gone to a course in London yesterday and then worked 8-7 (not including commute) which has left me good for nowt so apologies for brief, vague reply.
Yay scans, good luck for tomorrow Danielle and lollypopswater
THANK YOU for posting about bloating and constipation cures. Was sole motivation for turning on computer computer today. Might give Windeze a go.
I am a low risk birth and currently am keen. Have known 3 other home births which all went well. My research, gut feeling, friends' experiences and a post

Good morning everyone. I had an awful day yesterday I was so tired I had to take a nap In my car at lunchtime.
I met a lovely lady at work yesterday who was coming to the end of her pregnancy, and she told me she's having twins, I said aww are they your first and she said no I've two more sets of twins at home!!? Omg she will have her hands full!!
I'm on a day off today, I've still no real appetite but I'm going to buy myself a big fat vanilla slice later as I have had no aversion to them!
For those suffering with constipation, I've always suffered with one extreme or the other, and I asked the midwife and they can advise you what to take for constipation but not for diarreah so worth asking.
Congrats to those who are moving on up to the next board, hopefully joining you in a few weeks all being well.
Have a good day xxx0 -

Yay!
How come you still have to go back in 2 weeks? Although extra scans = bonus
I am finished work for the week now! Tomorrow is my normal day off and Friday I would be working until lunchtime but I have the morning off for my scan. And....guess what....I have not vomited since Monday!!!!!!! :j right now I feel...almost human! If it was not for the fact that I know you are meant to feel better around now I would be panicking about lack of symptoms. Actually a tiny stupid part of me is still doing that....but most of me is being sensible!0 -
It's too early for the NT scan. When I have the next scan I will be 13+6 which I think is the maximum for NT Scans. Hope they don't cancel. X
