  • Whattodonow - oh poo. Another thing to remember. Thanks. Literally everywhere? Neck down to knees?!

I have mood swings and to be honest if I'm going through it I like to share with DH so he can be part of the 'magic' of pregnancy. On my ill day on Sunday I was catatonic and miserable. Today I have been giggling and silly. Thrown husband entirely. He is used to mopey wife these days. We also found out at the weekend that the wedding of his friend in August will have his 1st wife in attendance. This will be the first time I'll have met her. I will be sober. Humpf.

Daisiegg - I am convinced that the act of thinking logically cannot possibly be natural to the human mind. If it were, then mathematics would be everybody's easiest course at school and our species would not have taken several millennia to figure out the scientific method - Neil deGrasse Tyson, The Sky is Not the Limit: Adventures of an Urban Astrophysicist

Good luck for tomorrow Daisiegg, just wondering if you're able to take a colleague into the meeting with you as a sort of back up?

I've just got home to a letter from the community midwife with my 1st and 2nd appointment which are only 2 days apart. This has confused me so wondering if anyone else had their first appointments so close together?

I just started crying about 10 minutes ago and can't stop lol.....we got pizza delivered as a treat in anticipation of tomorrow and mine came with cheese on! :(:(:( I am severely allergic to dairy and always order a pizza with no cheese. That just set me off and then I babbled all to my husband about tomorrow and now I can't stop!

I feel sorry for my poor husband. He is being so lovely but it can't be easy to come home after a 13 hour day to a ridiculous pregnant wife who is either crying or throwing up, always dressed in slobby ugly t shirts and doesn't even cook him dinner anymore!
  • Alioops - my time line was:

    First and second BFP 5/2/14
Call to GP 6/2/14 - booking in appointment arranged with mw
Booking in appt was end of Feb around 7 weeks
Advised to book scan - called a week later as advised and got 31/3 for scan around 12 weeks
Next mw appt for 29/4 around 16 weeks

Daisiegg - OMG. It's official, it can't get worse, can only get better (think D:Ream) so onwards and upwards. A certain amount of sympathy for husbands is allowed but face it we are not choosing to be at the whim of hormones, sickness, flatulence, bowel problems, sore boobs, bloating and the experiences that lead to me 'glowing' with pregnancy health. This marlarky is not for the faint hearted is it! I guess we just keep remembering it'll all be worth it in the end...we'll look back at this one day and wonder what we were complaining about!

    Good evening ladies

Whattodonow Glad your appointment went well

ttc39 I can sympathise, I had that problem earlier on, thankfully it's stopped now but not a fun symptom to have especially at work!

daisiegg Hope all goes well for you in your meeting. Like other ladies have said, they can't disciple you for preggers sickness and who knows maybe she is genuinely worried about you and wants to help.

claire16c and Lilmissreading I am from Berks too and will be going to RBH.

I've also read the Emily Oster book, it's really good and helped me put my worries into perspective a bit, can't recommend it enough.

It is in fact a 'witty' play on words as I enjoy reading and live in Reading! My lord, it took me HOURS to get through to RBH scan department on the phone. Nearly went over there on a work day with the plan of just hijacking the diary and putting myself in.

    Oh dear hehe!

You know what though I love the system though because it seems about the only place in the country where you ring up & book a scan yourself, whereas everyone else just seems to get sent a letter telling them a date and time! And as I work part time don't think my boss would have been too pleased if I'd been sent a time when I was at work!

I got through fairly quickly tbh, when I was pregnant before I remember it took longer but was prob cos I rang at lunch time.

When you have your 12 week scan you book your 20 week one there, so again you can choose, but no waiting :)

Hi Laila ah cool you too! I have to say the care there so far has been really good. I've only got a couple of weeks to go now & the ladies from my nct group who have already had babies have all had really good experiences. I also had some bleeding problems at 20&21 weeks and they were really good with me.
  • claire16c - thanks for the RBH feedback. The lady on the phone was lovely. My dilemma was always being in shared offices it was tricky to find a time where I was alone and could call. Monday lunchtime was no good but Tuesday lunchtime was. Good to know you can book your 20 week scan in advance. It will be the week of DH's bday so he is very excited about perhaps knowing whether he's getting a blue or pink one assuming the first scan goes well. I'm glad to hear they were helpful when there was bleeding.

LailaP - are you delurking too?

No I'm only 11+2, I have my 12 week scan on Monday at RBH. I did have a scan at 8 weeks due to bleeding but that was at Frimley so Monday will be my first visit.

Edited to add, I've also already booked my 20 week scan and consultant appointment too!
  • LailaP - Ooooh, good luck for Monday. Exciting times. RBH is my local hospital but I was born in Frimley myself all those many moons ago...

I was looking at my posts and realised I briefly popped in on 9th Feb but then didn't start posting properly until 2 days before my booking in appt on 24th Feb so missed loads of stuff going on. Just goes to show how much of a fake I felt and that the mw was going to tell me I am a poor sad, confused non-pregnant lady. Definitely feeling more real as time goes on and imagine scan will be final confirmation.

Daisiegg - random fact. I once replied to your request for meals for a difficult vegetarian in January 2013!
