Ouch, baby not allowing me to lie on my back, when I do something on my right side is being squashed and is painful, wonder what it is ?!

I had a terrible pain last weekend that had me in tears because I didnt know what it was, I think the baby was on a nerve. I just had to lie on the bed propped up by pillows that DH arranged around me and eventually the baby moved. It was really awkward as I needed the loo whilst it was happening and sitting down was unbearable.

For me the pain was on my left side, I think the baby was like stretching out or something. So I tried tipping myself to the right.
  • ClaireC- Ive had something similar. First happened at 19 weeks and I ended up being checked out on the ante-natal ward as I was at work when it happened. They didnt know what it was. Has happened a few times since, most recently last night in bed. Feels like its nerve pain and even standing up and moving didnt budge it. Its right low down in groin or on bikini line. Except for the 1st time all other times Ive been in bed.
Faithhope- I had an appointment with HV at childrens centre. Turmed out it was so they could gain some info on my home/social circumstances but also was a few displays on breastfeeding, smoking, cot death risk and the activities that the childrens centre run. Wasn’t completely pointless and to be honest preferred this to a home visit.

Still getting the hang of crutches. Pain a little better and I had a much better nights sleep but took a couple of hours for things to settle after a shower this morning. I've had the same stuffy nose and cold since xmas- any other ladies suffering as well?

Well that appt was a flipping waste of time! After turning up almost an hour late she only stayed for about 20 mins and basically just read out the breastfeeding notes that are already on my booklet!!
I think the visits are designed for women who aren't planning to breastfeed or are really worried about it but because I really want to do it and will just take it as it comes she didn't really have much to say!

I did laugh though when the knitted boob came out!! She was explaining the best way for the baby to latch on but to be honest ill probably get more out of a YouTube video!! Haha! Ah well, never mind!

I seem to have had about 3 different cold/ cough/bugs etc since just before Christmas. Annoying isn't it!

squirrel - knitted boob?! Really! :rotfl:

claire - I've already had to set my office chair so that I cant lean back in it! grrr And with my colds, lying on my back in a half seated position has just been the most comfortable way to sleep. Back to sleeping on my side it is..

I moved my officechair back yesterday so I was sitting forward a bit more, and did the same with my car seat. But I need to so something at home as our sofa is designed to make you slouch and I don't have a birthing ball. I should probably get one but I'm just concerned about space in the house!!

Thing is I sleep on my side but it kills my hips which wake me up so I have to switch between sleeping on my side, then I go onto my back for 5 mins to get rid of the pain, then I go onto my back for a bit moving the pillows behind me to prop me up a bit, then if I wake up from that I go back to being on my side. Then hip pain wakes me up...

And thats how it goes all night long!

Done :) Did you find out with your previous kids?

    Thanks for including me (us!).
The first two are my step-children and my OH didn't find out for either of them - #1 boy is 17 now and #2 girl is 13. The little boy we have together, #3, who is 4 years old, we didn't find out but I really wanted to. I seem to lose on this one. :p

Not yet! Although I think I'll be disappointed now if one doesn't appear! :p
Re the birthing ball, it does get in the way a bit! But think I'll be using it a lot these last 10 weeks.

1DayAAT - I've got to say its mums prerogative! :D
My brother didn't want to know but his gf did, recipe for disaster! He ended up knowing before my nephew was born.
