It's our three year wedding anniversary today, hoping to go out for steak tonight (tenuous link to leather anniversary!) if hubby doesn't get caught up at work. Going to IKEA with Mum this morning and will take it easy this afternoon.

Now waking most nights with hip pain but seems ok during the day. Which makes me suspect that being active helps. Will go to GP if it continues but at 38 weeks am working on the basis it's going to be short term!

Have a good day all x

  • Re hospital bags - it's worth checking what your hospital expects you to take in. Mine expects you to take in your own towels, baby milk ( if needed) and even a top n tail bowl!!! Then they also say don't bring in too much cos there's no room beside the bed  Very different from last hospital I was in. With my two DDs I also asked for a hospital gown to wear. Was easier, didn't matter if it got ruined, also easier access for epidural and then for skin to skin. Afterwards I had a nice bath and got into my own clean, fresh nightie :-)

Becca- I'm consultant led and not seeing community mw anymore. I do have to see the diabetic mw so is worth going to those appts. Is your mw not doing the fundal height checks, BP and babys hb? If your consultant is doing all that instead then doesn't seem much point with mw.

Birdie - :rotfl: at your DH being ready for action! :rotfl:

AFM - I've got a HV appt at a local children's centre and tbh am thinking that one might be a waste of time but we'll see.

Hi Claire, I'm still reading. Glad you enjoyed your NCT. We were trying to see if we were the eldest! :ROTFL: I set up our private Facebook group last night and everyone seems keen to join. :)
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
  • Just rang the cmw as no one has turned up yet (my appt was at 9). Apparently it's not written in her diary (its in mine and the normal mw) but she's going to head over in 10 mins - hopefully!! Oh well bit longer off work for me this morning!!!

Claire-I was talking in work yesterday and a few of my colleagues said if you had a bad pregnancy you will have a nice calm baby who is well behaved!!! :rotfl: I am taking their advice with a pinch of salt thou as I am sure it is not 'medically proven'!!:rotfl:

The ladies in work think I have had a rough pregnancy but in my opinion I think I have got off lightly, esp compared to some of you lovely ladies. All I have had is swelling and aches, been sick 4-5 times and that's it really.

Midwife today, I have forgotten to write my birth plan.....I'll try pop some ideas down on my lunch break today. Nice early dart from work then tomorrow off on leave and just Friday let to work this week and then only 2 weeks left before mat leave ...... Yay! :D

I was just saying to DH last night I hope it means we get a nice well behaved baby lol! By friend had an easy pregnancy & her baby has been a little terror so perhaps there's something in it hehe!

Squirrel you are lucky the midwife comes out to see you. Mind you that would mean id be hoovering etc before each visit so perhaps not! :)

Kynthia I can't remember how old you are but I reckon we were the youngest at 30, and the other couples were maybe 33-45ish? DH thinks one guy is in his 50s but I think he's about 35! DH is rubbish with ages though :)

Fran-I I've had such bad hip pain for weeks and seems to have no link to what I've done in the day so not much I can do unfortunately.

I've got another home visit this morning. This time it's the community midwife talking about breast feeding. I hope it's useful.
Lucky you, I've not had a home one yet and I'm 39 weeks tomorrow!

Anyone who is consultant led... Do you feel your mw appts are a waste of time?

I'm consultant led and haven't had any MW appointments since my booking. BP and urine samples taken at consulant's appointments and I have regular growth scans so don't see that there's much I'm missing out on.
I do have to decide whether to go for a C section or not, I was going for natural but friends of mine who've had both are convincing me otherwise. There's a 50% chance I'd need an emergency C section anyway, so a planned one seems much calmer.

    Morning ladies!

Re home visits - my booking appointment was done at home! Nothing since then though.

Went back to yoga last night, first time since before Christmas and oh did I hurt!! Also my bump is a lot bigger compared to last time, so some of the moves were much harder to do!

Was lots of newbies, then the rest of us seem to be 30-35 weeks pg and one of them is on the same nct course as me. So at least there'll be one friendly face there. How many couples are there at yours claire?

Having my work place "risk assessment" today, yes, now that I only have around 6 weeks left at work!!

Anyone else still have their babies in a transverse position at 30 weeks? MW didn't mention it last week, but noticed it in my notes and have been googling.... Looks like I need to start sitting up straight a bit more.
So going to put a cushion in the car for my 2 hour daily commute and sit on the ball at home in the evening instead of slouching on the recliners!

I'd like to get baby moved now whilst there is still some room to manoeuvre in there!
 Mini me due March 2014

I think my hospital has a similar policy from what Ive heard. I ordered a top & tail bowl from kiddicare for about £2.50 as I read another lady on a forum saying she didnt have one and it was a major pain trying to wash the baby if you had to stay in for a bit. We'll use it at home too, just bit of a bulky thing to bring!

Id also want to bring my own towel just in fear of what theirs might be like :rotfl:

When I stayed in hospital the other month, just my dressing gown, a hoodie and some nightwear took up my wheelie bag! So god knows how much stuff Ill have this time.

Our nct teacher is sending us a list that shes compiled from ladies who have written down what they actually used as opposed to what they were told to bring or suggested to bring.

Some good stuff we did learn at our nct class, was about getting free parking and a different place to park when you drive to the hospital as we were all a bit worried about turning up & not finding a parking space etc!

i think there were 9 couples Sjlou? A couple more than I expected but good, to get lots of different ideas etc

Yes my baby was breech at the scan last week. So I should start doing stuff to change that. Just really find lying back is more comfortable than sitting up straight!
