Happily Married since 20160 -
Hi all,
No baby yet but seems we're on the way there...
Cramps for an hour or so Monday night, for about three hours last night in bed til I dropped off to sleep (and I woke a few times uncomfortable after). Went to 41 week appt/ sweep at the hospital midday today and was told I was 2cm dilated already. I got monitored for half an hour (baby seemed to be moving less than usual last night, possibly because I was focused on pain rather than movement) and contractions started again and have continued... So now I'm home in bed chilling and hoping that things will ramp up a gear and we might meet baby this weekend. At the moment it's a dull back ache with regular tightenings across my belly which bring a low belly pain. Similar pain level to period pains, I'll put tens machine on if it gets more like proper pain, hot water bottle and bed ok for now!
Sweep was fine by the way, for me it felt no more unpleasant than a smear. And I'm on the induction list for Sunday 9th but midwives don't think I'll last that long
Best wishes to all, Fran (40+4)fran-o0 -
sunshine81 - Congratulations on your blue bump! Sorry to hear you had a grumpy sonographer, there is just no need for rudeness is there? Hope you get a nicer one next time and manage to get some good pics. We had an awful sonographer at the dating scan, I had to ask after 10 mins of silence whether there was a baby and if so was it alive! We were due to have the same woman for the next scan but as she was running behind her boss did it instead, she was amazing! It made a big difference to us.
Mrs_T_M - hope you find somewhere to donate your milk to. I think it's brilliant that you feel able to do this. Makes me remember that there are good people out there these days. Hope you and Mr_T_M are looking after each other.
Kynthia - Sounds like you have got a good solicitor, fingers crossed he can sort it for you sooner.
Squ1rrel5 - I still can't tell the position of the baby. I would love to be able to peek in and see. I feel bits poke out but haven't a clue what they are!
con1888 - glad everything has settled down, hope it stays that way.
Birdie85 - any more cramps?
fran-o - sounds like things are happening! Hope we hear a birth announcement soon
The NCT classes sound really good and informative. Kind of wish I had done them now!
I have been getting cramp like period pain over the last few days and it may be TMI but a lot more discharge than normal. Maybe things are starting?:D
My lovely step dad helped build the nursery furniture and is coming back tomorrow to help my husband build our bed. Now that the bigger things are done (or almost done) I feel much better. I don't mind if things are lying in boxes for months so long as we both have a bed, heating etc. I think that the baby knows the house is almost ready and he can make his appearance soon! I have my last antenatal class on monday - the breathing and hypnobirthing session so I am kind of hoping he hangs on for that as it sounds useful.
I think my mum and mother-in-law are contacting each other too as I hear from one or the other every 6 hours or so, it's like clockwork! I made the mistake of telling my mil that I was getting cramps and my mum rang within minutes getting over excited! :rotfl:0 -
Hope you're not left waiting too long now Fran!
Faerie, same kind of cramps happening... just an irregular, dull period type ache at the bottom of my bump. Nothing around my back yet so I wonder if it's just my body getting ready? Can't believe I'm due a week on Monday! Where has the time gone?!
I was kind of hoping/thinking that baby would make an appearance today since OH made such a big deal of being really happy to get to watch England play rugby this evening (as very often the international matches are on Saturday afternoons when the 'real' fans are all actually playing!;)) which I was sure was a jinx... but baby is clearly not so mean as to ruin Daddy's fun!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Oh Birdie, funny about your mum and mil! We agreed not to tell parents (or anyone) when we started labour, and have just had funny phone conversation with mum turning down a meal out tonight saying I was too tired but not sharing today's news. Hopefully we'll just be able to announce happy news when we're ready and not have them all pacing/ worrying while we're in labour.
Tbh, this early labour is very stop-start so I'll wait and see what happens next... I'm sure one of the graduates here (Kerri?) had on-off early labour for about a week before baby came. If baby was to come tomorrow it would share a birthday with its great auntie and great grandad!fran-o0 -
Good luck Fran, sounds like things are getting moving for you
My plan had always been not to tell family when I went into labour, but the teenager decided to take a loooooong time to come after my water had broken and I was taken in to hospital, so we had to tell them-this time I would love to just phone family and say "taaadaaaa, she is here"0 -
My mum has pretty much said she doesn't want to know when I go in because she'll worry too much, however I think she'll change her tune when the time comes and will probably be annoyed if we haven't said!! I'd prefer it to be a nice surprise though! If it's a long labour I might just have to get hubby to text my dad just to give him a heads up as because I either speak or text my mum pretty much every other day she'll be phoning me wondering why she's not heard anything!!0

I don't know what to do reg our parents. I am pretty close to both sets and I speak to mine every day.. they are also only 10 mins away. I think I'll want to tell my mum when I head to hosp but then feel it's only fair to tell OH's too.
I actually thought about having my mum in with me as a birthing partner but think I have decided against it. OH is very laid back and I was worrying he would be TOO laid back and not helpful enough but the more I think of it I might need him and him only to balance me out as I'm the total opposite from him.
He is definately being my birthing partner though but our hospital does allow two if wanted.
Who are most of you having as birthing partners ?0
