Morning all,
Well I have been thinking and have decided I need some main goals to work to so here they are;
Goals
1. Sub 4.5k by end of July
Only 32 to find so should be okay
2. Sub 4.5k by the end of September
Challenges are the school holidays, our road trip abroad and furniture for DD2 bedroom over these two months
3. Sub 3k by the end of October
Challenges are that this may mean £1k to overpay from our £1.2k spare income so will mean a frugal month or extra money from selling stuff
4. Sub 2k by New Year
Challenges will be Xmas! If goal 3 is complete we should be able to do this even if it means using January money which we are paid at the end of Dec
5. Debt free by Easter!
Challenges are lots of big birthdays and maybe needing to pay for a holiday.
Then the saving begins! I'm thinking house deposit first and hubby is thinking car!! So will need to decide on that one. However we have agreed that our first debt free month will go on buying a washing machine and fridge freezer which are desperately needed. I also need to juggle the budget responsibilities round so we have an even amount left each!
The fact our payments to tax credits for our overpayments finish in March make the timing perfect.
Need to survive the Christmas storm and not overspend! We are buying DD1 a laptop for secondary school for Xmas so I can't afford to go over budget elsewhere!

Thanks Crunchy- can't wait to reach these goals!
Well I returned a £3 pair of sunglasses, found a pound on the floor and got a pound I was owed from petty cash today so I paid £5 off my sofas which takes them to £869. This is £5 of the £32 so only £27 left to get under £4.5kOrange Fairy

Breaking it down into smaller goals is a really good idea.

Hi Starnac- my girls don't finish until next Friday and then go back on the 8th so not quite there yet!
Today I had my flexi friday off work and my mum treated me to lunch
Trouble is I did end up buying a wardrobe for DDs room! We went to the solid oak place and looked at the seconds. I know exactly what I was looking for. We are doing up DD2s bedroom for her birthday which was going to include her bed, desk and bedside cabinet which you see when you walk in the room. The wardrobe was going to be something I bought later own towards Xmas as it was the most expensive item at £349 and is hidden behind the door. She is having her room an apple green with a striped green feature wall and little owls and tortoises dotted around as a bit of a theme.
However none of the items I am after initially were in the seconds warehouse except the bed for £200 rather than £299 but the lady couldn't sell it as it hadn't been checked that it was a full set. There is some marking on the low foot end which will be covered by the duvet. So my name and phone number are stuck on it for when they check it out.
Then we can across the wardrobe for £224 rather than £349 because the doors catch a little so need to be closed together but this can be fixed. So it was a blooming bargain.
I am justifying it that I was planning on buying it in this period before Xmas so I have just saved £125! Plus if I get to buy the bed I've saved another £100. I was expecting to pay £300 for her bed so this feels like I managed to get the wardrobe for £125
So it is now proudly in her bedroom! The rest of the furniture as we get it won't do in until her birthday but I didn't want a wardrobe getting musty in the garage!
Not MSE initially but it is in the long run
I have had a lovely day with my mum and then finished it off with a good deed looking after my niece and nephew as my brother has just moved house and this allowed them do get on a bit this evening.
Not sure what the weekend will bring.....the golf and formula one are on and I can feel a decluttering and eBay spell coming on
DD1 is on residential this weekend so it feels a little strange

Happy Sunday everyone!
Well yesterday I went for my second floatation rank experience and managed to fall asleep I was that relaxedThis was a voucher from hubby for my birthday so a free treat. Then we did some food shopping with the last of my money!
The new wardrobe is now in place in DD2s room so I just need to sort through her room a bit. She now doesn't have room for her wooden kitchen which is sad but she's growing up and doesn't want it any more. So it's going in the loft for my grandchildren

Ahhh bless you orangefairy, keeping it for the grandchildren! We have a rocking horse that is going the same way, hubby bought it for DD before she was born, just after the scan and now DS is almost too big for it too, but its definately a keeper!!
Glad you had a relaxing time at your flotation, it sounds fabulous!!

Hehe Starnac my grandchildren have been on my mind since I bought the kitchen. DD2 asked for it 18 months ago for Xmas rather that an iPod. All her friends had iPods and I was concerned she would regret her choice. However I was happy to buy her something that was a toy and used imagination even if only for a year! So I spent £150 on a really nice kitchen in the knowledge I would put it up in the loft for my grandchildren after. I even got it in red purposely incase I only had grandsons
Visited my brothers new house over weekend and it is loooovely. The garden is terribly small as a dining room has been built into what was already a courtyard garden. They aren't worried about the garden though as they would prefer more house space so it is perfect for them! Makes me want to be in a position to buy our first house even more!
DD1 is back from her residential at 4pm today....I can't wait to see her :-)
Today:
Check child benefit has gone in today
See if I can pay the £27 today to get us under £4.5k
Lunch from stores
Dinner from stores- cod in butter sauce
List a couple of eBay bits
List a few FB sales
Nothing much really.
Had to send in £5 for a teachers collection today. This suits me fine as it means I don't have to worry about buying a present for DD2s teacher and TA. Handing over money is easier and the teacher gets a much nicer big present rather than lots of chocolates, smellies and mugs!
Need to sort DD1s two teachers though! Ill have a look today. I don't like or rate of them very much so I don't want to spend more than a few quid on either of them!
Have a lovely day

Morning all,
I am blooming knackered- work is so full on. Another 10.5 hour day today!
Well we are today under £4.5k! Woohoo! I just paid £27 off the sofas.
Other MSE news- my boss has agreed for me to go to a meeting in Kent on the day before I go on holiday next month. We were going up that day anyway but this means ill get a longer day clocked in for it and mileage for the journey up there which while amount to £90. So a result as we are going there anyway so it helps with our fuel costs.
Also Oleg the meerkat toy is on his way and I plan to eBay him as he goes for £25/30!
Lunch out with my bestie today so I'm hoping not to spend too much!

Morning all,
It is scorchio here! I have come to realise I really don't like it when it is too hotI'm not sleeping well and then just feel knackered in the day and don't really want to do anything because it is too hot!
So I am off to work in my summer dress today! Hopefully this will help.
DD1 finishes primary school tomorrow- I'm feeling really emotional about her going up to big school :-( so today I am finishing at 2.30 to pick her up on the last normal day at school. Tomorrow will be a leaving assembly and then bowling for the kids so it will be different.
After 30 hours work this week before I even start today I am blooming ready to finish early!
Bought the teachers in DD1s class a little present yesterday but spent £4 each when I had a budget in mind of £3. But it was bought from a pretty little shop near work which meant I didn't need to go very far on a hot day which was worth the £2
Payday is next week. Not sure what I am going to pay off with the holiday being in a few weeks. Will need to discuss this with Hubby.
