Tomtoon, do you use Keychain to access your account on your iPad? iPads have the feature built in to protect your passwords where it automatically generates a garbled mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols. If not then you are not utilising the built in security of your iPad.

Do you use your iPad away from home? Do you have added wifi hotspot security?

There are many ways to keep your passwords safe, some free and some chargeable. If you have chosen to just set up a normal password and not used any form of extra security then you have failed to protect your own details.

I only ever use my iPad at home which has WPA2 wifi security. (BT Home Hub 3) and my mums sky router which again has WPA2 enabled and is a mix of numbers and letters

My iPad no I don't have keychain as I thought that was just for stored passwords, It doesn't store sony passwords as the website doesn't allow it well I don't think it does

My account is the free version but yes I have purchased DLC myself.

Why should I make a new account which loses all my purchases and friends and progress?

I have never game shared and the email address it was changed to was a foreign email address.

I explained this to sony who were having none of it.

Trading standards should be able to do something right?

    No.
TS will only act if there has been a breech of consumer law, something which hasn't happened.
It's been explained to you a few times that you've not suffered any financial loss and that Sony are perfectly entitled to pick and choose who they allow to have PSN accounts.
If they wish to restrict your access to the old account until you cover their loss, they are legally entitled to do so and there is nothing that Trading Standards can or will do.

The strength of the security for the wifi network is largely irrelvant. That will protect you from someone sat outside trying to view the traffic on your network, but it doesn't protect what is sent out to the wider internet (for example phishing sites or the like). There will be a number of different ways your password could be compromised.

Ignore the loss of the friends and the progress. You can re-add the friends and the progress in your games has no financial value. I think the real issue is the loss of your DLC.

Although bear in mind that they could if they wanted give you access back to your account but refuse to let you renew membership when your current contracted term is up.

As others have mentioned, no one can force them to do business with you.

Even with WPA2, it wont stand up long against a determined person with a rainbow table generated against your (B)SSID.

Defeated some in less than 30 minutes, even the more complex would be done in a day or so. And that processing can be done away from the premises once the relevant handshake hash has been captured.

Well I haven't clicked on any phishing sites, as I didn't think you could on an iPad unless you've clicked on an unknown link which again I haven't. And as I said it was someone from abroad.
How can you add online Progress to a different account? You can't as far as I can tell.
I still shouldn't have to pay though.

Sony should have records (hopefully) of where your account was accessed from, time and date, IP Address etc.. Sony might be able to see that the IP Address was different to your usual address but there is no proof that it wasn't you that accessed the account from a different location anyway. I doubt that Sony would be interested in pursuing the culprit if they tracked the IP Address down, all for £120. They would still need to prove who accessed your account.

    This might help: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/12/06/hacked-psn-accounts-used-to-make-fraudulent-charges

They know it was a different ps3 and have admitted it wasn't me though so so it seems stupid.

I asked about the IP address thing and they said they can't which again is a load of BS

No one is suing the OP, no one is saying he is responsible for murder , Sony have merely stated that they are closing his account

A selective view. You should add to the end of that "unless he pays them £120 which was stolen from him"
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Having a Sony account is not a human right. They can pick and choose who they allow to have accounts.

You cost them money, so they don't want you as a customer.

They have said that you can have your account back if you pay them the money they lost. That's fair.

My cousin is a hacker (does work for police) and he won't even let his kids buy from Amazon online as hacking is so simple, regardless of security measures.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
