PSN account hacked, now I have it pay to get it back from being banned?

It wasn't Sonys fault you had your password compromised either. Your password clearly wasn't strong enough.0

They are doing this because you are an easier target than the criminal. They would have to spend a lot more than £120 chasing the criminal, and would almost certainly get nothing back. There's a chance you will value your account at more than £120, so at no cost to them they can hold your account to ransom.
I agree its not good customer service, but profit is always going to be more important than customer service to a company. If they don't think there's any money to be made from you then they won't be interested in you as a customer.
I imagine if this had happened to someone that spent hundreds of pounds a year on PSN they would have waived the costs and written off their losses.0 -
There is money to be made... They are losing money on the PS4... And I was going to buy one... Word of mouth spreads very quickly if I tell everyone to buy an xbox one. Plus I could go to gaming websites or the press and report it..
They'd love that wouldn't they?
I'll see what the management say0 -
But why should I pay?
Wasn't my fault I got hacked and they know it and have admitted it wasn't me spending the money
But it clearly was your fault, as your security wasn't good enough and you got hacked.
You have cost Sony £120, so quite rightly, they don't want you as a customer any more.
if you only accessed the account via your ipad, then I suggest checking your ipad security.
Did you have a secure password with a mixture of upper and lower case, numbers and symbols?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

I doubt they'd care to be brutally honest. They were selling PS4's at 1,000 units a minute.
One person with a poor password isn't going to kill the Sony brand
You aren't the first (http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network-Support/Banned-from-PSN-and-was-hacked-a-few-weeks-back/td-p/41477665)
PSN accounts can't be hacked, you've handed over your email and password, willingly or not, its your fault
Sony's position is clear. Your options are clear
1) Cancel reverse charge and pay Sony.
2) Set up a new account0 -
I have not handed over any details to ANYONE.. They can be hacked... I'll take them to court via trading standards if I have to0
-
What are you taking them to court via trading standards for? You have claimed the money back and if there is anything else you wish to claim for I would spend an hour or two reading the terms and conditions you agreed to with Sony when you opened the account before contacting trading standards.0

You won't have any chance of winning court action.
You have had your £120 refunded by the bank so you have not suffered any financial loss and all that Sony have done is what they are legally entitled to do.
Any privately run business can refuse custom or membership to anyone that they like for any reason (apart from a reason based on colour, race, religion, sex, or disabilities).
You stated that your password was hacked, but a well thought out complex password is just about impossible to break unless the hackers are willing to spend an awful lot of time and money doing so. If they can't get into an account easily, they will simply move on and find an easier target.
Your lax security has cost Sony £120 and they simply want this back before letting you use the account again.0 -
Playing devil's advocate here. Yes, Sony have lost £120, but not from the OP. The hacker owes the money, not the OP.
It's like saying if someone stole my car and crashed into someone's house, I'd be liable to pay the damageOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
It may make a difference whether or not this is a paid for account or not. If it was paid for it would be harder for Sony to justify locking OP out of the account although I'm sure they would still claim it was OP's fault due to lax security.
If it wasn't paid for then they can presumably terminate the account whenever they want for almost any reason, as mentioned above.0
