INOD I've just found your diary, read right through and subscribed. At one point I laughed out loud as your description, and at another point nearly cried for you a) being bullied by your evil ex, b) that resulting in an IBS bout (know about those and how debilitating they are), c) the black dog biting.

In terms of a pension, isn't there a Directors Pension? Most firms build that in to their P&L don't they? That could be a discussion for later in the year perhaps, once the MD stops smarting from having to stray so far from his misogynistic views on wimmin Directors.

Secondly, re the pension, is it done via salary sacrifice? If not, then perhaps you could suggest that as an organisational cost-saving measure. By paying in via salary sacrifice, both the employee and employer save NI. I always increased my pension contribution whenever I got a pay rise. I figured that I wouldn't miss what I hadn't been getting. It worked, I doubt if I would ever have put £200 a month aside for many of the years I was earning (I'm currently between jobs as I'm relocating from the SE to NW of UK.

Cheering you on, and loving the banter.

What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Hi satchmo, good to see you. Re the pension, it's salary sacrifice. As I am on 40% tax, it's the closest I get to a tax rebate. Well that and the occasional scone served by a public sector client or, as in today, the chicken sandwich and fruit that got me an NSD :T

Anyhow, today dinner was from the massive m&s haul at the weekend. Both scrummy and very low waste. My dd has just volunteered to give me a very MSE pedicure so off I go.

  • I love a cruise. The abdication of all responsibilities at a predetermined price. They can actually be a very economical way to holiday.

  • Definitely. Have a look at all that it offers then shop around for the best deal and see what pops out. We have one booked for sept where the total cost to us is less than the flight plus hotel cost exc the 10 day cruise that goes along with it. I can then allocate my entire food budget for the month less approx £30 for milk, etc. to holiday spends as everything is provided on board. I think if we forego stuff consistently, we do need some treats and I'd sooner skip the takeaway coffee for the big spend.
