  • Was in the office all day yesterday bar lunch time which was spent with a colleague. There is a bad atmosphere in the place with a lot of discontent. I've asked for a meeting with the senior partner on Monday to discuss but the invitation hasn't been accepted as yet.
Yesterday was both a spendy day and the first day of a new credit card billing period. I paid for lunch, a bunch of flowers for a friend I visited last night who is recovering from a hospital stay and a two dine in from m&s as I was able to secure a big chicken and another bottle of wine. Fingers crossed I can offload the wine on the December feast whose name shall remain unspoken until September.
I also put diesel in the car. Two months today is my last working day pre holiday. I'm already on a countdown. Still, I need to stop wishing my life away and instead start doing something with it. Recently we've all been given too many reminders of how quickly life can be taken.

  • Forgot to mention that the casing on my 5 year old blackberry gave up the ghost on Friday. Oh went online and has very kindly bought me a replacement. While searching for this, we discovered a cheaper monthly line rental so the cost of the phone £34, will be recovered in 5 months savings. He also transferred £25 to my account from his paypal. This related to proceeds of my items sold on ebay.
Accordingly, I squandered most of this on a takeaway for us last night. Will be back to the food straight and narrow from today. Will probably roast the chicken to provide dinner plus OH's lunches for the next few days. Will need to do a small food shop to supplement what's in the freezer.
Today appears to be the second good day in a row that we have had in quite a whole so I'm heading to the garden to plant the climbers bought last week. These are to go up the trellising that will hopefully enhance where our bins live.
Hope everyone gets to finish their weekend on a high.

  • So the top up shop came out at £1 shy of £50. However this was due to items being on offer combined with room in my freezer so should save money in the longer term. We've meal plans in place up to and inc Thursday so that's good. I'm heading into work today with the sr partner having accepted my meeting request though he did say he may be a bit late. I've various bits and pieces to get done and then I'm into planning for the rest of the year. Fingers crossed everyone's week gets off to a good start.

  • I only dealt with the ongoing work matters in the meeting plus some staffing things. They were more pressing. Had a quiet afternoon as everyone else was out or on leave so got bits and pieces cleared. Am not really gee'd up for work at present. It's just not happening for me.

OH's parents have their 50th anniversary the first weekend in August. His mother has to be the most indecisive person ever. He was talking to her last night and then phoned his brother in the hope of a translation into sense. I, knowing since Christmas, their view of our living arrangements, are getting increasingly uptight at the thought of it with extended family in attendance. It's also costing us a fortune as usual when we go to see them. She had previously said to come on the Saturday and help with food etc. she's now having it catered and doesn't need us there until the Sunday. So we needn't have booked the more expensive early flight plus we now have a Saturday in London where we won't be able to check into hotels pre lunchtime and where it'll probably involve blistering heat that I don't do too well. I'm pale, freckle, burn, etc
She won't give any advice on what to wear. Just whatever's comfortable. And she will over cater to such an extent that it'll be shameful. It also kinda rankles that she would have included another son's stepchild in such events (he was married to the child's mother) but no invitation has ever been to include DS who lives in London and who has previously been very accommodating when they were all here at the same time
Isn't it weird how much more hurt you feel when you think your kids have been slighted?
Apologies for the rant. Don't know what I'd do if I couldn't dump on you lot. OH can't or won't see the issues and I couldn't share this with my family. I just find the whole situation unsettling / upsetting.
Anyhow, better go put an spf40 face on for one of our rare days of sunshine. Apparently the rain will be back tonight. Hopefully my nephew will be round today to get the grass cut before the neighbourhood cats get lost in it.
Hope things are going well for everyone.

  • I'm melting, I'm melting. Yesterday was so hot and then the rain came. Got my in tray cleared yesterday and had a chat with my right hand man. Met oh at lunchtime to try and source a present for his parents. No joy. Did call into the m0nsoon sale on the way back to the office and bought a very versatile dress reduced from £99 to £27.90. It's silk kind of tunic cut and I can put a black jacket over it and wear it to work. It'll also do for a wedding mid august and oh appeared to like it.
TodAy I'm in the office for two hours for a meeting and then a visit to the counsellor this afternoon. We'll all be heading to the weekend by that point.
    Today I am grateful for
    Fresh, clean running water
    Air con in my car
Being able to take advantage of offers.

Dress sounds nice. I like M0ns00n and they have great sales. Looking forward to being able to take advantage of offers too in the near future.

  • So, I did a half day yesterday, got annoyed then upset then spent money on a lunchtime deal from the chippy on the way home. It did taste so good. Talked to my counsellor about what had happened which left me incredibly frustrated as she couldn't get or I couldn't explain the context. I did email for clarification and I'd misunderstood. I think OH was about to kill me as I'd gotten so upset over something that was nothing. Spoke to both parasites yesterday which helped.
So, off to work and heading towards an earlier than usual start to the weekend as I will finish early on Friday to make up for working yesterday.
