  • I love my non working day! I was only 13 hours out of the house in total yesterday on work stuff. Still, we are edging closer to the weekend. Yesterday the client treated us to lunch but while still remaining within budget, I opted for a Chinese last night. I nearly fell asleep face down in it though! It was quite funny.

Today OH needs to be in earlier than usual to deal with an IT related problem so need to get a wiggle on

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Great news, well done.
  • And on money saving news, divided food shop between m&s and local supermarket and redeemed £5 off voucher in each. So that plus a TT went to the mortgage. Also paid my cc and, as my mortgage payment had already gone out updated my sig which has broken another £1k barrier. Got confirmation of a refund having processed which should clear in the next week so another op pending. Having said that dd returns next week so am anticipating a major rise in grocery bills.

  • Am I the only one to wonder how much Tilly has denied banks in interest due to others following her lead?

Great news on the contract and job security :j

And sig is looking fab - storming it :T

:rotfl: at your TT comment - I like to think someone at the bank runs a report and it leads to scratching heads in a meeting at the number of pence/low pounds payments. And how many very long mortgage statements must get sent out!

  • So, another week underway with plenty to get done. This week I need to get my day off as I have to pick dd plus extensive amounts of dirty laundry up from airport tomorrow. We will then go repatriate the dog. I can't wait to be welcomed every day when I return home. The dog is the only one consistently pleased to see me.

Had conversations with OH and DS last night and things may be veering off in a different direction. DS lives in London and despairs of ever getting on the property ladder. I have always been interested in a buy to let. The thinking is that we combine both elements and get a two bed place where he rents out one room. It will completely derail our mortgage free plans as I'm going to up, initially by 150 a month, my isa payments so less to feed the mortgage beast. My isa pays more than 2% more than the mortgage costs so it makes sense. I'm fed up with DS paying more than my monthly mortgage payment to live in fairly not great places. So, plan is to save rather than spend on the mortgage as deposit, legal fees etc will be needed plus, for him, with his first mortgage, a decent fixed rate will be an idea.

OH's big concern is that we may not be able to support dd in the same way. However, knowing my two, I'd say she'd just be happy to see him in a better place with improved facilities for when she goes to stay! Did I mention they both have tickets to see Ireland play at wembley in the rugby World Cup? Anyhow, gotta get a wiggle on. Hope everyone gets the week off to a good start.
