  • Due to having stuffed the freezer to its gills, there's little room for apple loaves so feel free to call in and grab a slice! Today I have my eye exam at the gp surgery so will leave slightly later than usual. This will give me time to kondo some raspberries to a colleague, an apple loaf to another and to wrap and kondo a new baby present. I then have a fairly packed day but it should move quickly that way. The LBM is still holding which is great. Apparently, if you can do or think something for 32 days it sticks, reckon this is probable day four so an eighth of the way there. Hope everyone has a good day today.

  • Oh, afterthought. Met a friend for lunch yesterday. It was my turn to pay but she insisted on paying half so that's £10 to go towards the mortgage. I just need to fire up the beast this evening and pay it.

  • Got half of yesterday off and today will also be a half day as I'm going to see Marion Keyes who is doing a book reading and a talk. She's one of my favourite writers so should be good. Yesterday made the transfers to my mortgage but haven't updated my sig. I believe I have made arithmetic errors in calculating amount paid so far this year but due to loss of accounts book, need to get OH to double check. He's not overly inclined to do so. Anyhow, better get a wiggle on though I really can't be bothered geeing myself up for work. Still, onwards towards the weekend.

Happy Friday INOD - how was the book reading yesterday? Don't think I've read Marian Keyes before so will have a wee look next time I'm at the library.
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86
    Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.98
  • Oh I have Marion Keyes envy. She's one of my very favourites as well.
5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
    Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
    Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
    By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.00
  • Well, as expected, Marion was wonderful. She did a reading from her latest book which was great. I know a lot of people think all irish accents are the same but for me there was true comedy hearing a dub use words that are typically theirs. She then did a q&a session where she spoke about depression, shoes, etc in the same manner as she writes. I can't recommend her newsletter on her website highly enough for anyone who gets a visit from the black dog. There is at least one description of depression that made me see that I'm either not mad or I'm not alone in my own type of madness. Too often articles I've read are written by medical people. This one is written by a very engaging writer and if you get her style in her books, you may find that her descriptions etc resonate with you.
We also went for lunch to a moderately priced but much lauded eaterie. The portions were big and there was nothing wrong with the food. I just don't see what the fuss was about. However, I saved £1 on my contribution and also on carpark ing yesterday so that along with a tcb payout should form the basis of the mortgage op. Then, I totally will do the maths and update my sig. I'm pleased to report that approx £1k a month goes off it.

Still no word back from ebay re the complaint. I will be so annoyed if it goes against us as I truly believe we did everything we could inc signed for delivery that we hadn't charged for. It's £26 that could go to my mortgage.

Today I'm determined to get the next batch of videos watched and disposed of. That will hopefully lead to some reorganisation of DVDs to free up clothes space as for some weird reason, oh keeps overflow DVD box sets in his wardrobe. Go figure!
Tomorrow I will do a top up shop. Vouchers have been thin on the ground recently so no big shops being done until they reappear. Hope everyone has a good weekend with much to be grateful for.

Sounded fab and just looked up her books - I've read one as well, which is good for me as it's usually only on holiday I sit still long enough to pick up a plot :rotfl:

It's interesting how MSE has worked into personal development too with KM and your social LBM. Great stuff :T

Can't wait to read your updated sig too - I'm going for the £1k a month from end of August for September - realising the OP bit is not far off the amount I was paying to the CC - garden has alot to answer for knowing that :rotfl:
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18

I love an Irish accent. I can hear differences from different areas although other than North or South, I couldn't say which area was which accent. When I'm on holiday I often get mistaken for Irish but to me that is a compliment. I'm very definitely Scottish though and any Scottish or Irish person would know that by talking to me. I think it would be brilliant to hear Marian read her book in her own accent.
