Hi Folks,
I ordered BT broadband and received my BT Voyager 220v router on 15/6/07.
Since then I have been trying to connect without success.
I have probably spent over 8 hours on to the phone to their help lines to no avail.
I spent two hours onto them yesterday and was told it may be a problem with my laptop?
I bought it new in March and have never used it on line.
I have tried various ways whilst on the phone and the furthest that I have got is to be informed by the router manager that I am connected and that I can now surf the internet!
When I try, the "cannot display web page" information page appears every time.
I have been told that it may be my house alarms fault (don't have one) and that I may be too close to the microwave or radiator, so we really seem to be clutching at straws now!
The latest info is that there may be a problem with the browser settings and the dell systems manager may be able to fix it.
It would appear that BT can't.
My notebook runs on vista home basic and it has me at my wits end!!!
Any ideas would be welcomed, but please try to keep to laymans terms as I am not too confident at this type of thing.
Thanks.

Have you had to enter any router codes/configurations into the dell network adaptor so it can 'talk' to router?
If you click on the dell wireless manager, does it show available networks?0 -
Hi,
No codes given or entered anywhere.
I don't require wireless operation and would be happy to put up with the wires.
It says, lan network connected, i'm sure.0 -
Just had a quick look at router at Bt shop, so ignore my 'wireless' comment, as it is ethernet connection/usb only......did the set up disc with the router install ok on pc?0
-
Hi,
Yes, advised to use the ethernet, yellow cable, which I am doing.
The software seemed to load ok.0 -
Might be worth trying to re-install software again.........my bt router software asked for a code off the router itself did this one?0
-
Hi,
I reloaded the Bt software last week to no avail.
No requests at any time for codes from the router.
When I click on the router manager icon it informs me that I have been connected for a certain duration and that I can surf the internet.
BT suggested that something is blocking my signal, ie... a firewall, I only have windows defender at the moment and that has been diagnosed as operating correctly and not blocking the signal but that a remote firewall?? may be.0 -
are any lights flashing on the router?0
-
Dells come with a restore option (CTRL F11 on boot up) get all the documents etc you want off the laptop, and then restore it to default.
then try connecting again WITHOUT using the BT disk (it's not required for a ethernet connection, only for USB drivers)Ex forum ambassador

Power and dsl lights are solid green, ethernet one can be solid or flicker at times.0
