    Evening all *tips hat*

Loving hearing all the ways to cook SW chips - I am rubbish at them. I suppose its trial and error with your oven though, right?

Question again! Actifryers! Who has one, do you rate it and shall I get one? Are chips syn free on it? do you cook them with Olive Oil?

I have an acti-fry, makes really nice chips with only a spoonful of oil which can be used as a HEXB so technically syn free if you go this way. I got mine when it was in the sale around 6 months ago. So far have made chips, sweet potato chips, swede chips (didn't really like these) and scotch eggs. But mine came with a receipe book and you can make all sorts in it like curries etc. Its noisier then I thought it would be and the chips take around 20-25 mins to cook, so a lot longer then say in a deep fat fryer, but my girls love them, and I feel they are 'healthy' chips, really glad I brought it. I could never get sw chips right in the oven.

i've got one.. far easier than doing them in the oven.. once you find the right spud that is.. maris piper best I've found.. spray with frylight instead of adding oil and they stay syn free :)

people in my group have been raving over this one that was on offer in currys recently

I have one, it's the best thing I ever bought, but then we have chips/potatoes at least once a week. I don't get on with SW chips in the oven.. I always found them really dry.

In the actifry you can use olive oil (as a heb or syns) or just spritz them with frylight as you would normally.

The only thing I would say is it's hard to get really crispy chips, but I guess it's all down to experimenting.

Going to be trying this at some point in the next few weeks

eta sorry cross posted with everyone else.. I like the look of that one Mich - it's looks a bit more futuristic - my dad has a halogen oven and he loves his.

I had the same with the non crispy chips.. but sussed it using maris piper spuds.. rinse all starch off, pat dry with kitchen roll.. into actifry and run for 2 mins with no oil to dry off then spray with the frylight and add any seasoning and run as normal.. they were miles crispier this way :)
