Good afternoon fellow SLIMMERS! Long time lurker finally plucking up the courage to post again.

I rejoined SW in November as wanted to lose before Christmas and control my inevitable gain over the festive period. Up shot is I have lost 10lb to date (3.5 lb gain over two weeks at Christmas). Downside is I have let myself go over the years and now need to lose 7 stone (GULP). Turning 40 in October switched on a lightbulb in my head and I took the steps to rejoin.

After filling outa food diary every week for 4 weeks I discovered to my horror the amount of syns I was consuming just in alcohol (wine mainly). I had a teetotal New Years Eve and undertaking a dry January which is sometime hard to my shame as it shouldn't be that difficult to cut out alcohol. Bizarrely I have a savoury tooth but am craving sweet things, probably because of the sugar I am missing out on with the wine.

Last night I mixed a tub of quark with some canderel and an options sachet and had a huge chocolate dessert for only 2 syns in total (for the options sachet).

I am currently munching on cottage cheese potato cakes (syn free) and reading up on all the posts.

How do you keep on track when you have such a huge amount of weight to lose? It seems so daunting....
  • Hi Mrs Optimist. I'd try to break down into mini goals .. 1 st half stone, then stone etc... Plan a reward for each now. Something to look forward to? I know SW is £4:95 a week, but if u recorded wine syns for 4 weeks what do u reckon that cost in £ ? Can u set that money aside and let it build up to treat yourself to something lovely ? I find this sort of plan helps. I've made target last. October but over Xmas am now outside it! So I had saved my £5 a week since oct and used it to treat myself at Xmas to a lovely new jacket. I will start doing the same ... And am going to save it for my holidays this time.... If I don't shift 3 lb this week I have to pay so I'm trying my best! Any wee treat helps eg getting nails done.... Makes me feel great! good luck!
    2014 reach my best.

I've been having a few problems with internet lately, posts disappearing on here and SW site jamming when I'm looking up syn values.

So a short post in case I lose it (must get into habit of cut and paste).

Noticed yesterday that Aldi now have 5% mince. It is in 250g packs and £7.56 per kg which is excellent value compared to most shops. I've got a big pan of Bolognese cooking now.:)

Thank you for the advice about SW chips.

I boiled them for 10 mins, dried them, sprayed with Frylight and cooked for 20 mins at
180c fan, and they were lovely.

Mrs Optimist ~ Welcome to our lovely thread :)
Best advice I can give you is to break your weight loss into half stone chunks and think about it that way.
    Keep posting :)

  • :hello:

SW Chips, my favorite way of cooking them is 1st put oven up to its highest temptature with the baking tray in so that also gets hot.
Leave the skin on the potatoes, cut into wedge's (either thick or thin all depends on what were having them with) Boil in slightly salted water for about 8-10mins, Drain and leave to steam dry for approx 5mins.
Spray the tray and put the chips on giving them a little shuffle about, season them well with salt or garlic salt, plenty of black pepper, paprika, and any other dried herby flavorings.
    Cook for about 30-40mins.
Delish, all my family love these chips.

    Menu today

    B - Mullerlight, Banana.

L - Brisket of Beef (done in the slow cooker for about 10hrs:eek:)
was amazing. with lots of the usual sunday type veg.
    2 satsumas

T - Couple of cracker breads with cheese, pickled onions
    beetroot.

45 mins Spin class, 30min Treadmill, bit of Swimming

Really missed my cup of tea with a big piece of granny cake mid afternoon, but i know if i start with things like that id be having it for the next 2 days till its all gone.
My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

    Evening all,

Welcome to the new joiners, and de-lurkers ;) The more the merrier here.

I took my youngest 2 boys in to town today for some retail therapy, and treated them to a McD's. I had the grilled chicken salad again, with a coffee, and it's so nice to have the stress taken out of having to go in there now.

    Here's my food day today:
    Extra Easy
B - Muller yogurt, satsuma, apple, banana
    L - Grilled chicken salad 1 syn + balsamic dressing 1 syn
    snack - muller light
D - Sainsb. Cumberland sausages x 4 = 2 syns, peppery mash, baked beans, mushrooms, onions. Gravy 1.5 syns, ketchup 1 syn
Supper: kellogg's Chewy Bar HExB, Shape Choc. Dessert 5.5 syns, satsuma
    Total syns: 12

WI tomorrow, and really hoping it will reflect the restraint :D
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
