Can anyone tell me the best way to cook SW Chips please.
I have been looking at some recipes and they all vary, e.g boil chips for 3-4 or 4-5 mins, oven temps vary between 180c and 220c, cook for 15-20 mins.
Have tried different temperatures for 20 mins but they are never cooked, leave them for longer and they are usually brown in places, never golden as in photos.
Am I doing something wrong.
I cut potatoes into chips and put in a single layer on a plate and zap in the microwave for about 5 minutes. Then put the chips on a baking tray and spray with frylight and cook 200 for about 20 mins, keep checking them and turn half way through.Officially debt free :j0 -

I just cut them up, spray the baking tray with frylight (must be a very shallow tray, NOT a roasting tray) put chips on and spray them too, and chuck them in at 220 until they are cooked... my OH loves them.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

A bit carb heavy - maybe that's my problem but it's sooo comforting & filling
Hope you don't mind me snipping your post - but bits of it are exactly what I was going to post earlier!!
My menu is carb heavy today (rice, sw chips, pizza toasts) but i'm ok with that at the minute because it stops me going for the sweets/high syn foods.. or that's the plan anyway :rotfl:Skint_Catt wrote: »
I also want to avoid the inevitable diabetes (more luck than judgment that it hasn't caught me already)
Same here, I watched emergency bikers once with a man who was having a hypo and it made my cry, it was just so awful, along with all the other issues the disease causes it's not something i'd ever want to go through!
We have type 2 diabetes in the family (as a lot of families do these days) as well as heart disease and cancer all at young ages. My dad was 42 when he had his first heart attack and has had 2 major bypasses since, my mom passed at 48 from cancer.
I'm now coming up to these ages (i'm 37 at the minute) and want to limit my chances of being ill.Was thinking about joining slimming world but its hard to get to the club. There is a new one not too many miles from where I live. It has an offer on at the moment. Do people find it helps, also what are people's goal weights. I'm 5ft 4 not sure what I should aim for
Hi Sharnad, it depends on what sort of person you are - do you need the fear of weigh in or are you ok to do it alone.
If you need the support of a physical group then i'd say you would be better joining a group but if you think you could do it alone then feel free to ask any questions you want here.
We're quite normal.. most of the timeMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Ooh just found this thread
I started SW on 1st Jan - doing it from home and from borrowing friends book. I thought I had 12lbs to lose but then weighed myself and needed to lose 15.5 9:( Weighed in on Weds one week later and had lost 3.5lbs so now I really do have 12lbs more to lose. I have never tried SW before and can't believe how easy it is. I am 5ft 3 and am naiming for 9.0st.
Good luck to every one this week. BTW I am doing EE.0 -
Evening all

I realise I haven't checked in with you all for quite a while. Apologies for that I have been mad busy.
On Monday I joined my local SW group as I thought I would see if I enjoyed it.
Since going to group I have fully stuck to the plan, although I am counting my syn's weekly.
I have a jar with pasta in to count my weekly syns. So throughout the week I have been taking out any syn's consumed. I am then using Friday and Saturday as my treat days, but am ensuring I do not go mad.
eg, 2 alchoholic drinks at 3.5 syn's each and then maybe 10 syn's worth of chocolate etc.
I guess I will find out on Monday evening if I have lost anything.
I wondered if anyone notices any differences if they weigh in when they are having time of the month? As I feel that time approaching and worry it my effect my WI this Monday.
I hope you are all doing well.0 -

Don't mean to be rude but I find that meal planning works better before I go shopping. I think it's the mse in me, I do my plan around what I have in and want to use up then buy the minimum.;)am i a bit late to join up? tomorrow is my weigh in after my first week following the plan. I am hoping i have been 100% all week but i just don't feel confident i have lost anything at all, i'm convinced i have had too many carbs and too big portions to lose
how does it look to people ?
I'm sure you will lose. The plan definitely works!! There isn't a problem with carbs or big portions. What you need to be really strict on is having at least a third of your food as superfrees. You have quite a lot in there but beware of beans, peas and sweetcorn. They are free and you can eat them but you need a third SF on top of that. Was thinking about joining slimming world but its hard to get to the club. Looking at a height/weight chart then it suggests 10st or less for your height. I'd certainly go along to the new club. If it works for you then that's great but if it's not your thing then you have the books and the talk (for just £5) and can go it alone with support on here.0 -
Today I had two! That's two different sets of people compliment me and ask had I lost weight! 4 months it took! Chuffed to bits
