I had the same problem but then realised you can see the pictures of the pigs and turkeys on them!:rotfl:

After reading it on here I had savoury rice with salad bits chopped in for my lunch. Yummy! Does anyone make their own savoury rice. I thought maybe it could be microwaved in stock/tomato puree and bits added??

me too.. that's how I worked it out! ;)

was feeling adventurous and just made creamed carrot and beetroot soup from the little book and its delicious! :j

had a bit of a faff with the soup maker tho as the ingredients given in the book were far too much for it to cook everything through so had to finish it in a pan! :o:p

I have to weigh up weight loss with the shopping bill.
Anyone else got a similar problem?

Afternoon everyone, hope you're having a good Sunday. I've had a bit of body magic this morning.... Stop it, not THAT! as I've de-clinkered our bedroom. I couldn't see half of it for Christmas presents all December, so it was long overdue. Must remember to put fresh sheets on the bed too, as I've just remembered it's still stripped, then maybe I will get that extra body magic ;)

    Food plan : EE day
    B - porridge (HExB) with sweetener & water + extra porridge 4.5 syns & 1tsp sugar 1 syn
    L - huge banana, tinned apple slices (200g) 3 syns, 2 x tbsp cream 3 syns, satsuma
D - roast chicken, sw roasties, cabbage, leeks, carrots, peas, gravy 1 1/2 syns
    HExA ss milk
    Total syns = 13

maman hopefully you're not as delicate as me with veg & fruit, as most things affect me. I either do my leeks & cabbage on the hob or in the microwave. I slice the leeks about 1cm thick (I buy trimmed & washed as it saves waste & time), I like a Savoy cabbage for taste & texture. Peel off a couple of leaves per person, cut the hard middle end off, then I fold it in half and cut off strips across the leaf. Then I boil in water with some stock cube or bouillon in it for about 7-10 mins, or until it's tender but still has a bright colour. You can microwave in a cling covered bowl with a bit of water added for about 5-7 mins too, and I season afterward. It's very quick, and I add it to super rice in the pan as it boils for my veg fix at lunchtime. Leeks & cabbage also keep well in the fridge, and are low priced in Lidle I've found. HTH

Fortunately OH asked whether we were having the chicken left on top of the freezer in the utility room for dinner about 1/2 hr ago, as I'd forgotten it was there and had planned to have McMince. That's what you get for being a short @rse and the top of the freezer being out of your eye line & trying to plan ahead so we'll that you forget you got stuff out!

I found the stuff like extra lean mince from the supermarket to be ridiculously expensive, so I buy steak mince from my local butcher, it's definitely less than 5%, he swears it's extra lean and barely anything comes off when cooking it.

He sells it at £3 a lb or 3lb for £7.50 which is great value as I get at least four portions out of a pound.

We're also on a low budget (or 'poor as churchmice' as Top Boy says), I do rely on supermarket whoopsies a lot, I have a freezer full of turkey mince at the moment, I bought it on 27th December from A5da, everyone must have been sick of turkey as it was 37p a pack!

cant stand fatty mince so even before starting SW I always bought lean, will only get ex lean if there's a good deal on.. or use turkey as that's not too bad in spag bol etc

I trawl the reduced veg section too.. get some great bargains in them, we have an aldi being built near to me so cant wait for that to open later this year ;)

I tend to buy all my meat from the local butcher too, I 100% trust him when it comes to the fat content of mince for example, my family have been going to him for over 30 years!

Someone in group cooks there standard mince off, and then rinses it in water to remove any traces of fat. I can't remember if the consultant let this one go or not but the lady in question had a really good weight loss.

I have had another good day, Sunday roast round mums (resisted the darn cheese scones again) and had no roast potatoes or parsnips just loads of free veg. Had a small amount of icecream so I didn't feel like I had been deprived. But again another proud moment for me again :j

Just completed 30 mins on the Wii Fit and burnt 165cals so something else to be proud of, just hoping the scales will be kind for me at WI on Thursday.

I love lean butcher steak mince as well.

Today was a red day for me, done a big Sainsb shop as I had a £12 off voucher for a £60 spend, thought that was a good deal. And at the checkout the lady proudly told me I was £4.62 cheaper for the brandpromise at Sainsb. I told her it was because I only buy the bargains, lol

    so menu today so far:

basic chicken tikka pieces with salad
roast chicken with lots of carrots and broccoli and hm gravy (2 syns) Activia 0% yogurt
    satsuma

    HEa: milk in coffee
I am nicely full but no doubt will want a nibble of something later, so will have ryvita minis for HEb (do I need to have another HEb even if I am not hungry?) or 3 chilli ryvita crispbread with ham and cucumber if I am hungry and a hot chocolate for 2 syns and a bit of shortbread for 6 syns

I love it when I have been shopping and there is so much choice ;)
