We're off to friends today for our final 'Christmas' do. And they are great cooks. So my start day is tomorrow. My plan today is a syn free breakfast, potatoes, mushrooms, spinach and scrambled eggs. Then I'll clean and sort the fridge ( meals are planned for next week and my shopping is delivered tomorrow), take a coupe of tines if biscuits to the food bank and take the dog out for a nice long walk.
I love the first week optimism! Just need to keep it going.Sealed pot challenge #273

Hello Sweet1
I've just started and have joined up online too! Shame about the oats, they are so easy....when I last went to class (earlier last year) I questioned why the original OSS were no longer on the HEB list and was advised it was because they didn't have enough oats in them - so I added more to make it up to the correct weight (I had loads in the cupboard) but this was only the original ones - please can someone correct me if this is now wrong. Slow cooked minced beef hash was lovely, didn't taste 'low fat' at all:
Slowcooked minced beef hash
Syns:Green: 7½ Original: 3 Extra Easy: FREE
Lowcalorie cooking spray 2 onions, peeled and finely diced 2 garlic cloves, peeledand crushed 1 tsp cumin 1 green chilli, deseeded and finely diced 450g extralean minced beef less than 5% fat, 2 carrots, peeled and diced 300g potatoes, peeled and diced 400g can plum tomatoes 100ml beef stock 1 tsp oregano 4 tbspfinely chopped flat-leaf parsley Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1.Spray a large frying pan with low calorie cooking spray and place over a mediumheat. Add the onions and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
2.Add the garlic, cumin and green chilli, stirring for a few moments to releasethe flavours.
3.Add the minced beef and cook on high, stirring all the time and breaking up anylumps, until all the meat is sealed and brown. put in slow cooker
4.Add the carrot, potatoes, tomatoes, stock and oregano to the slow cooker cook 6 to 8 hrs approx onlow then turn to high 1/2 hour to hour before serving and remove lid to thickenif necessary
5. stir in the parsley and season to tastebefore serving.
To be on the safe side, I put a red pepper, a green pepper, some mushrooms and some green beans in and just doubled up on the stock and served with broccoli. As I'd added extra ingredients, I also used chopped tomatoes instead of plum to space them out a bit.
Definitely recommend this one!
This looks yummy - thanksStarted SW at home 03/01/2014....Valentines day challenge 14lb offWk 1 -9lbs139lbs to go 9lb gone0 -
That beef hash looks fab.. Will definitely be trying that one evening this week as I love using my slow cooker too. So much easier to get it all ready before work & to come home to a cooked meal.
Still being healthier than this time last week! Had a few Gins with soda water last night.. Got the midnight munchies & had some pickles, ham (& mini chedders.. I know... My bad!) but I don't start until Wednesday so cut myself a bit of slack for being so good the other 3 days!
Yesterday I did chicken tikka masala recipe for tea from this months SW mag... I adapted it a little to fit with what I had in buy instead of serving it on rice,I finely chopped up cauliflower & steamed it quickly & served it on a bed of that. Can highly recommend it as a way to get extra veg into your day as I didn't really notice the difference. Would go as far to say, I preferred it over rice. I didn't over boil the cauliflower, so it had a bit of bit to it like rice would have.
Beef, new pots, cabbage, carrots & peas today... Yum0 -
Sweet1 . When I was working I used to make up "magic porridge" and take it to work. All free. Just pudding rice cooked in water and sweetener. Add 1 or 2 yogurts and eat hot or cold.0

Thanks for the minced beef hash recipe Topgirl, and thanks to mich_city for the sausage syns. That's usually my go to meal if I don't know what to cook!
Well last night was fun, and slimming world lasagne went down well with friends, although the pasta sheets were a little chewy despite being ones you don't need to precook. And my friends did joke that my dessert wasn't up to its usual standards. Usually cream and chocolate feature rather prominently.
Today's meal plan
Breakfast: overslept so just had muller light and a banana
Lunch: something on toast (HEXB) with 2 satsumas
Snack: carrot and celery sticks with tablespoon of peanut butter (4syns)
Dinner: my fake NandOs- HM peri peri chicken and slimming world chips with green salad, pineapple, cheddar (HEXA) and 2 tablespoons lighter than light mayo (1syn)
Raspberries and strawberries with some sweetener as really tart.
Skinny cow mint chocolate ice cream (5syns) whilst I'm watching Sherlock this evening.0 -

What sort of yogurt? Would it have to be the yucky plain one that makes your mouth go 'TUT'? Or could I mix in an activia fruity one?
I have to say, I have sainsbugs version of Oat so simple and I count it as a HEB?Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

I thought magic porridge was HEB worth oats mixed with yog & fruit & left over night so the porridge soaks up all the juices!
I do magic rice or couscous by using LO plain couscous or rice mixed with yog & fruit left over night
Both eaten cold (I wouldn't feel happy heating up rice or yogurt!)
I'm now planning weekly meal plans so I can make a shopping list!
For those with young children - how do you deal with eating during the day? & what are your fav quick cook meals for dinner?0
