Morning all
(or is it afternoon?
sorry this student life is getting to me already :rotfl:)
Maman, I'm currently writing a TMA on Doctor Faustus. I'm more of a linguist but I love reading so I'm trying to plough on as I really need literature for my teacher training. The materials we get now are really good, I have DVD's and the website and things and also my tutor group has 2 tutors in tutorial- we merged with another group at the same time as they were a bigger group and it's a fantastic help to have 2 viewpoints. My tutor is really nice- her postgrad speciality is philosophy so she offers a different viewpoint from the other tutor whose speciality is literature- that in itself is good because when they combine you get different ideas but they share ways of working which seems to work really well.
Sorry I'm waffling! That's one thing we've been warned not to do in TMA01
Miserable day here. Thank god I don't have to go out! Got a bit of research to do and I'm going to catch up on last nights programmes I missed. Will go on the bike later for my Body Magic. Was a bit naughty yesterday- had to switch to Free2go as I ended up having a Shapers Wholewheat chicken wrap for tea as I spent too long in New look to get my jacket spudso I'm going to try and be really good today..
B: Sainsburys Basics Berry mix (blackberries, raspberries, blackcurrants and redcurrants) 2x vanilla Mullerlights, cup of coffee with HEXA milk
L: Mushy pea curry, uncle Ben's golden veg rice (2.5 syns) 2 kiwis, pint of NAS cordial
T: 2x Quorn peppered steaks, jacket sweet potato with a tiny bit of Flora lighter than light (0.5 syns) steamed mixed veg, raspberry Mullerlight with crushed mini Milkybar (3.5 syns) pint of NAS cordial
S: 3x Ryvita Hint of Chilli (HEXB) with 3x Laughing Cow Light blue cheese (HEXA) and ham, pint of NAS cordial
Syns: 6.5 (although if the munchies strike again like yesterdayI will either have my 6 syn bag of popcorn or a HiFi and an Alpen light)
Body magic will be 30 mins on the bike.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I agree, it's a good average weight loss and if it was anyone else I'd be saying the same to them that you are to me. I'm just a tad disappointed because I know I personally can lose more than that per week and I'm not sure why I'm not. That said, I've had a traumatic few months physically after losing my twins so I'm sure that has something to do with it too.
Will keep plodding on, but I'm going to try varying what I eat a bit more this week too XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j
Best win so far - holiday to Florida0 -
GFB - are you trying to stick to a red day, is this why you can't have the macaroni cheese? If not then i'd say go for it, frittata sounds nice though.. I would say you're not eating enough too, especially if you're doing all that running, i'd be tempted to stick a jacket potato on that dinner!
Lantanna - hope the gym is good for you - i admire anyone who can be bothered with exercise :T i have the thoughts but not the actions most of the time :rotfl:
PLBL - i've lost 7lbs since Xmas, so mine's a slower loss too. It is a bit disappointing but we've all just got to keep carrying on because what's the alternative? You've done really well since October :T:T
It's awful weather here too, i'm glad i'm indoors (although i'd rather be at home snuggled under me duvet!)
Catch up later xMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
GFB - You're definitely not eating enough. I would definitely be having the macaroni with the family. Use your HEA of milk and some for cheese to make a decent white sauce. I'd rather use cheese in a sauce than in a sandwich!

Yeah - you guys are right...if I want to make this sustainable I'd need to make sure it's something I can stick to...*rubs hands* mac'n'cheese for tea it is0

Afternoon lovelies, I think I just saw a girl in a gingham dress and a small scruffy dog fly past my window, it's that windy out there (and nothing to do with me either lantanna
) I hope you're all keeping safe and sound.
Well, I decided that despite having booked this week as a holiday off WI (I was meant to be away, and cancelled due to son's ill health), that I would just go along to a different class and WI. I usually go in the evening, but today's was a morning one, so I know I'm going to have weighed lighter than normal. So it's a -4lb loss for me this week, and hoping that if I lose next week too, it'll balance out with a STS. *crosses fingers*
Annie, MrsM, greentiger and Scotsman4th, well done on the losses. You're lean, mean weight losing machines!
Gbatey - congrats on the place for the GNR.
Shala - lucky escape there!
Geeves - I second Denise's advice of making a SW quiche or frittata, they're tasty, filling and you can pack them out with superfrees, and snack on them whenever you need. If I don't have one of those in the fridge, my quick go-to for a SW friendly filler is a banana, a yogurt and a highlights hot choc 2 syns. I find that's filling, and also gives me a gentle sugar fix too. Good idea to get out of the habit of eating the biscuits and chocolate. I did it out of habit, rather than desire, and have to say I've really not missed them a bit so far.
pleaseletmebelucky - I seem to be losing much slower this time around. I've now been going for 13 weeks, and have lost 14lb, so my loss rate is less than your's. I've just tried to accept it won't happen overnight, and I'm not being very physically active either, which I'm sure doesn't help. I'm taking more of a leisurely scenic route to target, but even if it takes a year or two, I just need to keep plodding on to get there.
Lantanna - I am stunned at the complete lack of proper induction on the equipment. The gym staff have a duty of care to ensure you are properly inducted, and to have worked out a plan for you. Not showing you how to use the weights isn't good either, because in my experience, they're the part of the workout that really does the toning, and helps to lose the inches. Women really aren't predisposed to build muscle, and you would have to be feeding your body in a particular way, and working out like a full-time job 7-8 hrs a day intensively in order to bulk up. Look at athletes like Jessica Ennis, the only reason you see her abs is because her fat levels are so low due to the extent of training she does. What you will find though is that if you do build muscle strength (that's different from bulk) you also raise your metabolic rate, and after a workout your body continues to burn calories at a higher rate for hours after. I only know all this boring stuff because OH is a major gym bunny, goes 3/4 times a week, and does try to bulk up, and strip his body fat to show a more 'cut' look. I quite liked the fact that when I went to the gym regularly, I could lift heavier weights than a lot of the men there, and I definitely didn't have any muscle definition in my dumpy body!
I braced myself for what you were going to tell us was throbbing... slightly disappointed it was only your gumsHope the painkillers have helped.
Mildredd - glad the gallbladder is finally calming down. Full of colds in this house too, and son #4 is home today with a bad headache and vomiting first thing. Now I have son #1 back living with us too, and being home all day, the house is feeling rather full again. Truth be told, that's how I like it, but don't tell 'em.
I'm another one who loses weight on their feet, but it takes quite a bit of loss to show. I was very big in my late teens/early 20's and lost about 5 or 6 stone quite quickly (oh, if only I could do that now). I went from a size 24 down to a 14 in less than a year, and apart from looking totally different, the one thing I could finally do was wear heels, all day, comfortably. As the weight has slowly gone on over the years, and as I had to be more practical with children in tow, the heels have stayed in the wardrobe. I still have them all though... it's just they're about 25yrs old now. Does that make them fashionably vintage?!
Another vote here for shoving lots of extra veg in the spag bol. I did that with the lasagne yesterday, and the family actually prefer it that way now. The flavour is so much richer, and tasty. I put veg in as many things as I can, such as rice or pasta dishes.
Right, well today's plan is 'planned' to a certain degree: EE
B - Danio yogurt 1 syn, apple, satsuma
L - LO savoury rice with leeks & cabbage, 5 baked beans, chopped bacon
D - Think this will be eaten out, as OH needs to go shopping in town after work
HEA - milk in teas/coffee
Snacks - May have a highlights hot choc this evening
So, OH flies off to the sun tomorrow morning (getting up at 4.30am to drive him). He's decided that now he knows he's staying in a 5* resort, that his shoes aren't up to the mark, so we're off shopping after he finishes work at 4pm. He is guaranteed to want a McDonald's before we go, because he loves them. That means tonight's meal will be off plan, because I just don't fancy having the salad there. I thought if I don't have my HeB, and keep syns very low, that'll help with damage limitation.
I have to admit, I'm feeling more and more wobbly about him going away. Almost wish I wasn't the one having to take them to the airport.I know I'll be fine, but we're not ones for spending much time apart, so think we're both dreading it.
Right, chin up Sary, get a ruddy grip!!
p.s. sorry I've waffled on a bit hereOne day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
Sary - 4 boys? Hats off to you xxx
Well me and mini me tried to make the most of a break in the weather - we got to the end of the road - one whole house down and she gave up wanting to go home and have a carry lol x took us longer to get wellies n coats on than we where out.
She's now sulking post tantrum in her playhouse lol
My spag Bol has made 14 portions lol so 6 tubs in the freezer x I don't like mushrooms or courgettes. Its pretty much tomatoes onion and grated carrots with a little bit of mince.
Gbatey your 2nd person I know who's doing gnr this yeargood luck!!!
Here's hoping I can do heels
Skinny feet n fingers here
Gfb- part of my sw journey is that I need to eat what I like? Like I still have traditional fat roasties and fat gravy because I don't want to give them up for life so I have them less and use my syns for them but I couldn't imagine not having them? So if you want mac n cheese have it?
Mrs Ryan are you going to train as a teacher?
I'm currently debating going back to college/uni to maybe be a nursecurrently just a musing though x
Today's food plan
Breakfast - 2 clementines
Lunch - 2 poached eggs, 2 wm bread (hexb) Tom sauce (1)
Dinner - spag Bol cheese (hexa)
So 1 syn? Might have a coffee in a bit so 2 syns today
Will probably have a little salad with my dinner and really should snack on some fruit to balance lunch out d
And then ill have 13 syns left so might have a choc treat later
Ps milky ways 5.5 :@ each :@Started sw 02/09/13 - total loss so far -5st 1lb
New Year New You Challenge - /6lb0 -
I agree I need to stock up the fridge with alternative late night snacks that I can munch on when I get home from work, so need to do some thinking and planning and a little list of ideas. (I do love list making!!).
Thank you for the suggestions of the quiche and frittata, unfortunately I really do not like them!! There are very few things I won't eat, but those and omelettes or mayonnaise is definitely on that list!!
I don't always even think I'm that hungry when I'm eating it, it is more that I'm wide awake, a bit stressed, OH is in bed asleep (and is so grumpy if he gets woken up) so I'm bored, fed up as already thinking that I've only got 8 hours before I've got to get up and do it all again so just crave stodgy, comfort food!
Years of shift work has definitely messed with my sleep and eating patterns.0 -
Hi Mildredd- I'm hoping to. I've had to give up on the nursing idea because of my back but teaching is always something I've had at the back of my mind so I'm going to give it a go. I sometimes keep things like crabsticks, ham and chicken in the fridge to snack on, along with a bowl of chopped salad.
Fresh fruit salad is also handy to keep in there.
