Hi all, can't believe how quickly this thread moves!!
Well done on all the losses and sts and hugs to those that need them.
Bit of an up and down week here. Went out to a friends on Friday and they had nibbles out. Aaaargh!! Can manage at home cos there's nothing here to pick on apart from healthy stuff. Needless to say I wasn't good
Sunday is my baking day, I normally make hubby enough buns for his packing up and supper. I've just tried out a recipe for synless muffins - jury's out on them - bland is the best description I can give. Texture is not too bad, but think I will have to eat them with a blob of ff creme fresh and some fruit.
Waiting on my first crustless quiche to come out the oven for lunch - it smells lush, so fingers crossed it will make up for the disappointment of the muffins.
WI tomorrow..............0 -
5 stone off in 12 months, so feeling pretty smug. Bad day today, 2x minced beef slices from Tesco. Oh well, stir-frys this week!0

Anyway, yesterday I was ambushed by 3 slices of pizza due to son #2 wanting to treat the family to a meal with his first proper pay packet. Then today after having to rush to the hospital in the ambulance, and no shop open there it was rubbish from vending machines (velvet crisp and a double decker). Came home and OH made me some wm toast as supper.
Think my trip away will have to be cancelled as so much to sort out here now.
Hope you're all doing ok. Beanie, you don't have to spend £ to lose lbs. just stick with us. X
So sorry to hear that sary. Hope your boy picks up soon and you can re-schedule your trip. Under the circs I'm not surprised you ate rubbish. Lovely gesture from DS2 though.urbancookie1 wrote: »Yay i found my old SW books:j their the ones with the green cover 2011 has much changed since then? (halved the syn value of chocolate maybe;))
Looking through them i think ive been doing mostly EE days also a few days have been totaly off plan, but hey ive lost 7lb towards the 10lb valentine challenge so im happy with that.
today's food has been.
B - 2 weetabix with s/milk, banana.
L - 2 bacon rashers, poached egg, tomatoes.
T - jacket potato, beans, 20g cheese.
pineapple, satsumas.
sugar 4syns
should i syn the milk /cheese am i allowed 1 or the other? im thinking this is an EE day am i right?
I can see im a bit light on veg today buy will try and make up for that tomorrow.
I'd suggest you call that a Green day then you are allowed 2 HEAs and 2 HEBs. So milk and cheese for the As and the Weetabix and bacon for the Bs. I checked and you're allowed 55g of cooked bacon so the only syns would be if the bacon came to more than that weight.
Definitely up your veg though as I think it's a crucial part of SW on any of the plans.Having another EE day today:
B - SW fryup
L - LO pork and pearl barley stew
D - Roasted duck breast, roast potatoes, cabbage & green beans. May syn a bit of gravy.
HEA - milk in tea throughout the day
HEB - not sure yet
Syns - gravy? not sure what else yet
Denise
I generally only eat duck as confit from a tin:o as it's foolproof but I have a couple of duckbreasts in the freezer that were reduced in Aldi after Christmas. I've avoided cooking them as I don't fancy just frying/grilling them unless they're not cooked enough. Do you do yours in the oven? If so, what temp and how long?
TIA
Beanie, hope you're OK. I didn't understand your post yesterday. Hope you're not leaving US. I love your little messages of support and encouragement to keep plodding.:A0 -
Unusual food at wedding evening reception yesterday. They served 'around the world' dishes in little bowls. I think the most synful was the British 'beef and ale pie' but that was yesterday. Today I'm starting to get back on plan properly ready for WI Thursday.
My EE day:
B: HEB toast, baked beans, scrambled egg, bacon, mushrooms (all in hotel so some syns but not many and the bread did look like sliced Hovis)
L: apple and cheesepork shanks (syn free from Lidl) in pepper sauce with roast potatoes, cauli, broccoli and carrots.
Syns: weekend wine:j0 -

Me too!
One of my favourite breakfasts is half a dozen large mushrooms with a couple of chopped tomatoes/peppers/onions, then pouring 2 beaten eggs with some HEXA milk over and cooking it into a kind of hash (I can't cook omelettes in one piece to save my life so I intentionally break it all up, it cooks faster too!) - delicious and filling, keeps me off the bread/cereal and completely free.
If there's any ham, bacon or cooked chicken knocking around in the fridge, I throw that in too, I just trim the bacon, chop it finely and start it with the veg, the ham/chicken I put in with the eggs0 -
Bad weekend as usual
I really need to learn to be as 'good' as I am through the week...
Breakfast - Eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms
Dinner - Mug shot and an apple
Tea - Superfart soup
Syns - a couple of spoonfuls of mashed potato with a bit of bisto gravy mixed in that I snaffled from the tea I made Top Boy (calling that 3 as it had lurpak lighter in, not much though, a teaspoon for the whole pan, split into 4 portions) and an options later (2)0 -
Geeves they recommend you do EE for the first few weeks but people at my group do all red, all green and then mix and match. Have you tried frylight* - 1 cal per spray and does the job, though I'll be getting the Bertoli one next time.
*other veg oil sprays are available
I did use the oil spray a few times but always wondered what it actually was?! Is it a synthetic oil type substance that is then flavoured to be like olive oil or butter etc?
I also cut down a few years ago on most of the 'low fat' and 'sugar free' stuff that is just loaded with chemical sweeteners, so won't be having the muller lights etc.
I think the Total 0% fat greek yoghurts are free and don't have added sweetener. Some raspberries or similar squished up in a pot is quite nice and filling as the protein content of those yoghurts is quite high.0 -

Another 'hash' maker here too;). I like to put some sliced new potatoes in (tinned ones are great for this) and slide it under the grill (ideally with a bit of HEA grated cheese sprinkled on) to finish it off. I then try to slide it off onto a plate and not eat it all at once as it's really nice cold. I make a large frying pan full so it's the size of a dinner plate. I'm sure I could make one that would hold together but I find the amount of eggs suggested in frittata recipes excessive.0 -

Maman - I also love the confit duck from a tin! but far too many syns to have too often!!!
Duck breast - start off in pan, skin side down to release the fat and crisp for about 5 minutes, on a low/medium heat, turn to high heat for 1 minute and then put in oven at 200 (no idea what gas mark that is!). Takes about 15-20 minutes for medium rare and 5 minutes more for cooked completely through, although I find it too tough if it's not pink!
No idea what the syn value is though!

Thanks Denise. This is my favourite but I haven't been to France for a while and we've run out!
It's DH that likes 'bien cuit'. I'm going to not eat the skin and count it as free! When I do the tinned one I put it in the oven on a rack rather than heat in a frying pan like it says on the tin.0
