I got mine off the Slimming World website online syns updated for 2014, although they were 1.5 in the list I had before!
http://online.slimmingworld.com/downloads/SynsUKSWOnline2014.pdf
That's some list you have - I've not seen that one before. It is all so confusing! Maybe the list on the website is an average?
Thanks again, Denise.Sewing 88/COLOR]Woollies 19Card s 91Reading 37/400 -
Oh meant to say! I saw something on FB last night about the SW website updating syn values for takeaways.
A Chicken Chow Mein is now 16.5!!
 I will be checking that out. Not that we eat out much, due to being poor students, but I would usually go for a chow mein!!Morning all
3.5lb loss for the challenge please 2b
Hehehehehe! Happy Mrs Lady!
Well donerainbowfairydust wrote: »Saag Aloo recipe -
2 tbsp veg oil (i substituted for frylight)
1 onion - peeled & sliced
1 clove of garlic
1 red chilli - deseeded & sliced
1 tbsp greshly grated ginger
1tsp (level) - black mustard seeds
1tsp (level) cumin seeds
1tsp (level) tumeric
500g potatoes ( i used new but any will do) - scrubbed & cut into bite sized chunks
250g fresh spinach
salt & pepper
1 - heat the oil (or frylight) in a pan & soften the onions, Add the garlic, chilli, ginger & spices once onions are softened.
2 - add the spuds (once they are cooked) and stir all together .
3 - add the spinach and stir until it wilts. Season for taste.
Please keep in mind that this is pretty dry whilst its cooking so it its probably best to cook in a non stick pan (and i found i had to add a bit more frylight to get the mixture moist ) - It could also be worth actually using the veg oil - not sure on syn value though..Just something to keep in mind as it might help the mixture to stay more moist.
I think I would use Olive oil as my Hb. I find in indian dishes you often do need 'liquidy' oil to fry the spices properly. Plus I am not a fan of frylight:o
Today:
B, Egg on toast (Hb)
S, crisps (6.5syns)
L, spag bol on jacket spud with cheese (Ha) 2 rich tea (4syns)
S, yoghurt
D...I actually have no idea what to have for dinner. I have used 10.5 syns and both HE's (although it could be a green day to give me another couple if need be) I could really do with something completely free for dinner. I might wait and see what I 'feel' like later?Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

tryingtobegood wrote: »Hi There! I've just found this thread and thought I'd say hello! I started back at SW on 8th Jan and lost 3lbs first week and 1lb second. WI night is tomorrow but I had a shocking weekend :-( . Hopefully I'll stay the same BUT I NEED to lose approx 21lbs before I see my neurologist on 28th Feb, so I'm back on track and hope to find lots of inspiration here! I'll update my sig once I work out how again :-)
Welcome tryingtobegood :hello: good luck for your WI tomorrow.
Lantanna - sorry I am a bit late replying but in response to your comment about tastes changing then yes, mine definitely have. I used to have take-aways semi-regularly but have found that I tend to feel a bit queasy when I have anything deep-fried now.
Sorry to hear about your troubles skintcatt, Mildredd & Mrs Ryan - hugs to you all.0 -
Greentiger I agree with joedenise, the cream soda rice pud is just 2 parts soda to one part rice. I never weigh or measure anything, but I usually just make enough rice for 2 people at a time because the kids don't like rice pud. A 500g bag of pudding rice usually makes about 3 or 4 batches.
MrsLady, firstly Happy Birthday and congratulations on this week's loss. Wetherspoons stuff is usually higher syns than you think. For example, their skinny burger and salad (no chips) is 22.5 syns!! Their jacket potatoes used to be really high too as they were made elsewhere and frozen and then cooked in the fryer when they were ordered in the restaurant. That was a while ago I must admit, and they may have changed, but I can't find their potatoes on the app now.
Congratulations for everyone else who has lost or sts the last couple of days.
Weigh in for me later. Got everything crossed for a good week XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Thanks again, Denise.
That's really odd, because I just double-checked for you, after seeing that list you linked to, and if you look up Jacob's cream crackers, they are 2 syns on all plans. I then looked up the Sainsbury's own ones, and it's 2 syns for normal, 1.5 syns for their BGTY ones. Conflicting info on the SW website won't help anyone.
I tend to use the syns online search tool for my syns, as I can look up specific s/mkt or brand's products. Maybe you'll find that a bit more accurate. It would be a shame to go over your syns by accident, when trying to be diligent.
Lantanna My tastes change completely when I'm on SW. Once I stop eating high sugar foods regularly, I no longer crave them, even with * week, when I'd have devoured packets of chocolate. Now I seem able to manage with just a low cal hot choc drink if I need a bit of comfort.
When I worked a McD's into my syn allowance a few weeks ago, my insides clearly weren't happy, because it positively flew out of me only a few hours later. I do find that anything high sugar seems over-sweet now and gives me a headache, and anything very greasy is practically unpalatable.
Isn't it odd how quickly your tastes can change? I do hope it stays this way. That's not to say I couldn't still manage a slice of lemon torte, topped with cream every now and again. I'm aware that my biggest demon is white bread and things like croissants, so I just try to avoid them at all costs. I think they could well be a trigger food for me to go downhill completely.
Is there anything anyone else tries to avoid? One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Thanks sarymcclary, I didn't doubt joedenise's values, but I knew I had my info direct from SW too. I tried to get onto lifeline online, but appears to be only available to group members and I am merely an online member. I really don't see why online members shouldn't be able to access the same information.
I use the syns tool if it's something that's not in that pdf booklet, but I've trusted it to give me accurate information - up until now! Often it's easier/quicker to grab the list (I've printed out the set) rather than fire up the computer.
Thanks again.

:T:T:T I love it when all the losses come rolling in!!
I don't think my tastes have changed hugely since starting SW. I could still murder a pie or a pasty. What has happened is that I really value my 'syn bank' each week so I'd see having some of the junk I used to eat as a total waste of syns.
Sorry topgirl, I'm sure someone will answer your question about the noodles soon. I'm having problems with synsonline. Excuse nosiness but I read you are a 2 person household and you sometimes mention TopBoy: do you cook SW for both of you? My DH is getting conscious that he hasn't shifted his Christmas weight as quickly as he'd like. He eats all SW main meals with me but he has synful snacks (biscuits, cakes etc.) so I'm hoping he'll join me properly soon.
I'm really well on EE plan today:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB porage, HEA milk
L: chicken, pickled cabbage and bubble&squeakSW Bolognese
Syns: squirt of syrup, bite of Crunchie (at footie) and maybe a scrape of Parmesan0
