I think it would be a shorter list of diets I HAVEN'T done!
Originally I did WW - but way back when it was a really healthy diet...where you had to pick so many carbs a days, so many proteins a day and so on...it's rubbish now!
I did juicing (nearly killed me!)
Low carb...lost tons of weight on that and I think I would now too but I just got sickened with so much protein and fat and needed something more balanced.
And also the "binge and purge" bulimia which nearly ruined my health and did nothing for my weight!
This is my first real try at SW and I'm really enjoying the variety and the fact that it's real food and my whole family can eat the food.0 -
I've never done anything else - until my late 50s I was never more than 7 stone and then when I left work at 58, due to severe depression, my weight increased fairly rapidly and put on 2.5 stone in about a year! As my depression eased I felt I had to do something about losing the excess - I certainly didn't want to go back to 7 stone as that was far too light (my BMI was about 18) so decided to play it by ear until my weight felt "right" - I did go down to 7st 10 but felt that was too light and upped my target to 8st 5 and have been in target range most of the time for the year or so.
I still go to Group every week not only to keep on track but also because I've met some !!!!ly people and like to stay in touch.
I think I struck lucky in find the right "diet" for me first off.

The only other diet I have really tried is Rosemary Conley which did work but I was hungry quite a lot of the time :mad:. I can honestly say that on SW I don't feel hungry (unless I forget to eat

The only things I've really done to try and lose weight before was calorie counting; restricting myself to 1200 calories a day and doing a ridiculous amount of exercise. This worked for a couple of months but just isn't sustainable for the long term. Plus forcing myself to drink masses of water just gave me a headache. I much prefer SW because you're a) eating actual food b) can eat as much as you want of certain things and c) training yourself to eat healthy portions. It basically follows the old adage of everything in moderation and you eventually realise that only a small amount of cheese is enough, you didn't need to eat half the block!
Ended up having Quorn fajita's last night using the steak style strips. Wasn't too keen on them (think I can only really eat soya protein if it's "mince" in a bolognase / chilli or the linda mccartney red onion sausages) so mainly ate the peppers. Had my HEX of feta cheese with them for a change and it tasted really rather nice with the spices.
It's going to be a long (extra easy) day at work today so I've come prepared food wise;
Breakfast - Activia 0% yogurt, 3 plums and a banana
Lunch - Tomato and Pepper soup, 1 laughing cow light blue cheese triangle (1.5 syns), 2 clemetines
Snacks - Cucumber, pepper and cherry tomatoes
Dinner - Carrot, kidney bean and cumin burgers with 2 slices of low low cheese (HEX), salad and a jacket potato
Evening Snack - Cup of tea with skimmed milk (0.5 syns), 2 alpen light bars (HEX)
I'm also going to re-start my fitness regime; I downloaded a 4 week low intensity program from Fitness Blender. I've tried a few of their videos before and found them really easy to follow and not too taxing, so I'm starting with the Low Impact 4 week program and will see how it goes!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

Mmmm what is syn free rice pudding and how do I make that?
Also, I am quite partial to a bit of Soreen, can anybody tell me the syn values please?
Soreen is deffo 4syns per 26g slice as a previous poster thought.
I make syn free rice pudding by cooking pudding rice in no added sugar cream soda on the hob until it's absorbed. When it's cooled slightly I mix a coconut flavour muller light into it (any flavour will do though). I have mine with strawberries in lieu of a big splodge of jam!!!
Alternatively, you can cook the pud rice in boiling water and sweetener, then you can add your HEA of milk when the water is absorbed and then continue to cook gently until the milk is absorbed too. If I do it this way, I sometimes add an options sachet to make it a chocolatey rice pud (2-3syms depending on the options sachet. XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Have you tried the Quorn fajita style strips? They are syn free and really rather nice. It's same stuff as the chicken style pieces but cut into strips and covered with spices. XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j
