BTW, I usually make my own bread - does anyone have any idea how to calculate syns for that?

    Good luck everyone.

I tried and work it out before, just add up the syns for all the ingredients- flour I think is 4.5 syns per 25grams, yeast is 0.5 syns per level tsp, if you add oil or butter, need to syn that too. Add it all up and divide by how many slices you get out of the loaf. So 300gr flour = 54 syns
    yeast 2tsp = 1 syn
    salt 0 syn

so if you can cut 10 slices out of the loaf they will be 5.5 syns each

I think it works out pretty high in comparison with factory bread but then it isn't full of additives and air and if you cut thin slices you will be ok. Hope that helps

Thank you for the replies re. exercise. I've had little work since Christmas, so that means apart from some housework, I tend to sit on my bum most of the day. I definitely need to start moving around more, but the less I move, the less I seem to want to.

I'm off out tonight to have an Italian meal at Ask, they have a 50% off voucher on all pasta/pizza dishes. I'm going to aim for a tomato based one, to limit the syns. Can't find any syns online for their meals, so just having to use common sense. I eat out so rarely that I'm not going to get stressed about one meal with friends. SW has to fit in around real life, right?

Lantanna, I don't think it's hormonal, as * week is a way off yet.

I just think the promise of eat all you want of the right stuff clearly can't apply to me. I have been trying to limit carbs, and as OH doesn't like pasta, we rarely have that. Mine come mainly from cereal/potato/rice.

Anyway, moving forward, and thinking about portion control as the main thing I will try as a means of getting the losses going.

    Meal plan today:
    Extra Easy
B - porridge HExB + extra 35g 4.5 syns, made with water & milk from HExA, 2 tsp sugar 2 syns
L - H/M tikka chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, spring onions, pickled onions. Dressing 1 syn. Some s/w quiche (made with peppers/mushrooms/onions).
    Snack - muller lite
D - tomato based pasta dish at Ask - thinking the one with green beans, courgettes, roasted tomato, spinach and peas. It's listed as one of their below 650cal meals.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
  • WOOO irst weigh in last night. Lost 3.5lbs - really chuffed and totally shocked as I have felt so full and satisfied all week.

Even had an unexpected visitor drop by Friday which led to WAY too much booze.

    Proper thrilled!

    How does this actually work??

Mich city - do whats right for you but keep posting here, hugs to you.

thanks :) I will still be around on here for sure.. think i'll continue with the challenge as don't want to go off the rails.. will just weigh in at boots instead.. ;)

been busy and made a couple of soups with some weary looking veg that needed using.. broccoli, spinach and potato with some f/f fromage frais to cream it up.. and spicy/curry butternut squash, sweet potato and parsnip :D

feeling more positive.. or is it relieved? now I've not got the pressure of weighing in at group.. will go back tho as i'd like to get to target there :)
  • Change of plan - didn't get to go home with the grandkids this afternoon (circumstances prevailed against it) so didn't really have a lunch at work here...MrGFB left a couple of tablespoons of his chilli from lunch so I scavenged that! With a pear and a yog that I had brought down just in case someone needed them.

I went for a run at lunchtime - should have been 4 miles but turned into 3 as it was belting sleety rain and I had forgotten my hat and it beat the head off me!! Sat here looking dead glam with my hair stuck to my head!!
  • All good so far today, although I could eat a slice of bread and butter now as i'm starving and its ages till tea! I shall resist.

    B 2 x toast with jam (3 syns)

    snack. banana

L salad with pasta and a teaspoon of pesto (syns for pesto ?)
    mullerlight

    snack banana

D liver n onions in gravy (3 syns), potatoes, carrots, sprouts
    muller light

    milk for tea

Must confess I've just finished off the last of the Christmas pudding:o. It wasn't a big piece and I told myself I needed a sugar hit as I'm so tired today.

DH is still manfully polishing off other Christmas goodies but I won't touch those. He's a star!:)
