I normally take them down the day after Boxing day but this year they went up late so I have yet to take them down. Not sure when I will, as soon as they start to irritate me.

    Probably next weekend.

Sometimes we've taken them down on 1st January, though.

I wouldn't take the decorations down before New Tears Eve, as it's still the festive season. But leaving them up until 6th Jan is too long

I took mine down on Boxing day evening, I couldn't cope with the mess anymore. There wasn't enough room for all the kids presents and the decorations so something had to go.
Now there is room for the pictureka mat on the floor and the remote control helicopter doesn't get tangled in anything!

My poor cat really misses all the baubles to play with though :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Friday I think. I hate putting them away.

Sixth night is my aim, but this year sat is tricky, so will probably do it on Friday. Eh, all that careful wrapping of things in tissue paper is not my favourite job. : (.

I miss the tree when its gone. I don't mind it taking up room, its so pretty.
  • I took all my decs and tree down yesterday and put it all back in the loft till next year! Was relieved to get my living room back to normal.

Our tree hasn't been great this year and started to wilt and drop needles about a week before Christmas :( so now it really is on its last legs. I knew its time was running out when we came down yesterday morning to see one of our beautiful glass baubles smashed on the floor as the branch it had been on had wilted too much to support it :( I suspect we will take the tree down today or tomorrow, but will probably leave the other lights and bits and pieces up for another week or so.

It always makes me very miserable to see all the decorations go. We have quite a big house and a very large living room so even the huge tree doesn't feel irritating and doesn't encroach on our space. For me there is no feeling more 'flat' than when the festive season is over, and the disappearance of the decorations is the visual signal of that :(

I got into trouble - OH was due to fly out to see his parents on Boxing day, so after I waved him off I got back in and just took everything down.

    And he missed his flight...

    I don't care, I admit it, I hate the clutter :)

When I was decluttering my daughters bedroom on Boxing day, DH took it upon himself to strip the house of christmas decorations. It was lovely when I came back down, felt nice and tidy. :-)
  • New years day or the day after. Am itching to do it sooner, but am hosting a meal on new years day and want it all left up for that.
