when are you taking down your christmas decorations?

Options
This morning I have taken down all the cards as I am fed up looking at them. I will probably take the tree down later too unless my children want it left up for longer. I am a bit of a minimalist and hate clutter, be it ornaments or piles of paper, I just like to see clean clear spaces so christmas decorations are only ok for a couple of weeks then I get desperate to clear the house again, especially as loads of new toys, clothes, books etc have just entered the house

Whe will you be taking down yours ?

We take ours down normally on New Years Eve, seems a shame to us to take them all down any earlier

We are having friends round on NYE so are keeping them up for then. We both return to work f-time for 2nd and 3rd Jan, so I should imagine it will be the weekend of 4th/5th.

There is currently no room in our recycling box for the cards to go in and I'm unsure of the next collection, so happy to keep them on the walls until then.
  • I'm taking ours down on Monday evening I think. I'll take cards and windows stickers down today though so I can get some cleaning done.

We don't put our tree up really early like some people do, usually 15th/16th December so I'm happy to see it a bit longer after Christmas.

We'll take it down next Saturday.

There is definitely a change of seasons here :( Christmas used to start on 24th December and 12th night was 6th January - and decorations went up on Christmas Eve (or maybe the weekend before) - and came down on 12th night.

Now, all the lights are up by 1st December and down by 31st ...shame really.

it's all to do with retailers - I know that when I go into work tomorrow, there won't be any more mincepies - but I'll be having to produce hot cross buns!!! For heaven's sake - can't we keep seasonal foods to the actual seasons??

    Really?

I'm intrigued about this 'collapsing' tree.
Can we have the full story please. :)

The dog's collapsed my tree three times this year!

My decorations stay up for my birthday on the 3rd, and then until I can be bothered taking them down after that. We've had some paper decorations made last year stuck to our ceiling all year - it got to about October and I thought I may as well just leave them!

ours come down on Jan 6th although they do go up about the 2nd week in December. I feel sad when they come down but know I have spring to look forward to.

Probably New Year's Day. I suspect the only items I'll miss having out will be the NOEL XMAS and HO HO HO letters on the fireplaces which get rearranged into other words whenever anyone goes by them :rotfl:
