Next chance I get, working tomorrow and Tuesday so perhaps Weds or Thurs, might convince OH to take it down tomorrow though.
I love Christmas and the decs but when boxing day is gone I don't like them anymore !0 -
Im with the OP. Cards and bits and bobs put away yesterday and the tree comes down this afternoon.
I always get really exited about putting it up but after about 3 days I just want the room back to normal.0 -
Mine went up on December 1st. We went away on December 21st and came back on December 27th, but just for one evening/morning before taking off to visit my inlaws for New Year. We won't be returning now until January 4th, and we'll probably be back too late at night on that day to take them down then. So January 5th it is
Shame, as I like having all the decs up and feel like I haven't had long to look at them this year! My inlaws don't decorate

Our decorations went up on the 1st December this year, to coincide with a family do we were having at our house, but they usually go up on the first weekend in December.
Our decorations came down today, as I like to get the rooms clean and tidy and have this urge to take stuff down after Boxing Day is out of the way!
I can then wake up on New Years Day and look forward to the new year ahead, with a clean and tidy house and a more positive outlook.0 -
Mine stay up all year because I really like them so I don't see why not! I have a little artificial tree in the lounge and one in the dining room and fairy lights everywhere! Cards will be recycled at some point in the new year ;-)Many thanks to everyone who posts competitions and works so hard to provide all the answers!
Best wins this year so far: £100 Hobbycraft Voucher, £50 cash, GoPro Camera0 -
Usually take ours down on 2nd Jan, as to me Christmas and new year really is over then and the tree doesn't have that same feeling about it any more.0

There is definitely a change of seasons here
Christmas used to start on 24th December and 12th night was 6th January - and decorations went up on Christmas Eve (or maybe the weekend before) - and came down on 12th night.
I'm showing my age here, but we still do this! Never take the decorations down before 12th night! We put them up a few days before Christmas Day, and the tree is usually looking a bit raggy by 12th night. I don't understand why people put them up so early.0 -
Our cards never get put up in the first place- they sit in a pile on a shelf. I always intend to do something about them but it never quite happens, lol.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

Probably friday, I love my decorations this year and am loath to see them go, am already wondering which I can keep up without looking tacky.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

Like them left up for New Years Eve/Day then as soon as possible after that.
I'm at work on the 2nd and 3rd and we're going to the football on the 5th, so probably the 4th!Here I go again on my own....0
