I feel a bit down too... I miss having my tree and lights on! It's probably just the back to reality feeling though I'm looking into getting some of those indoor fairy light things you can get! A friend has a stick plant thing with fairy lights on, does anyone know where I can get one??

Anyway, day 5 of LTW for me, and a banging headache so off to bed!
Day off tomorrow and prob a shopping trip but I'll post in the morning.
    Goodnight all!

B17c.. yes I think everywhere does look really drab once the decorations come down. The father light tree is a good idea. I think I saw one in B&M... it may be worth a look?

Glad your headache had gone. Caffiene withdrawal is nasty... Although I cut down on tea and coffee from time to time I don't give it up completely anymore... just can't handle the fall out! :rotfl:

Yesterday I attempted to make falafels and all went well until I needed to cook them. The broke up in the oil and OMG the amount of oil they soaked up!! Determined not to waste food I brought the 4 that didn't turn to oily mush in for lunch today but they were still really oily.. I'm sure slimming world have a falafel recipe so I might try to seek that out to see how they managed a non-oily version.

I had porridge for breakfast and brought some of the Christmas biscuits with me to much, which I think I will attack in a mo as the falafels din't realy touch the sides

Oh no.. That's so disappointing :-(. Well done for trying though xI will have a go at some soon... I love falafel!

    Day 2 completed!

Haslet sandwich with onion relish and cucumber, some more leftover Pringles (memo to self, do NOT buy so many next Xmas!) a satsuma and an apple.

Yesterday I made some amazing home made soup, which I've frozen for future lunches. One batch was curried winter veg, and the other was sweet potato and mushroom - both made with home made chicken stock, which I froze after processing our humungous Christmas chicken. Loads more stock in the freezer, so shall continue experimenting with the soup.

Your soup sounds nice. Please could you post the curried winter veg recipe? I am making carrot soup for tomorrow and probably the next few days too. DH is making some bread so my lunches will be fantastic :T

Day 3\22 for me today. Really enjoyed my tuna sarnie, I had a satsuma, pretzels, veg sticks and then had 6 cadburys roses that are still on the buffet table  someone bought in another tin of roses . In my defense today had been hailed the most depressing day of the year. It was a long long day too.

Been back 1 day and taken 1 lunch to school. Also have enough in the freezer for tomorrow and Friday as I made a batch of chunky veg broth (which isn't as thick as I'd have expected but nm) yesterday. So here to declare 1/21 for now, just in case I forget it tomorrow!

I'm enjoying reading all the meals.
I really must try to make some homemade soup.

Today I had a Tuna Salad (it was massive, but I didn't waste any :rotfl:), followed by a yoghurt and 2 satsumas.

    So, that's Day 2 for #52
  • Just put peppers, tinned tomatoes, tinned kidney beans, courgette and jalepenos in the slow cooker with some mince I'd browned off, so tomorrow morning I should have a lovely chilli type thing to take with me and freeze a couple of portions of :D

I like the sound of the chorizio and cheese muffins, do you have a recipe please? :)

No problem at all! This mix makes around 12 small muffins.

Hunk of cooking chorizo, chopped into cubes and fried (Lidl's chorizo is very good for this)
    190g Cheddar cheese, grated
    75g butter
    1 egg
    250ml milk
    300g self-raising flour
1/2 tsp paprika (I often used hot smoked to add extra flavour)
    pinch of salt

Preheat the oven to 190 degrees, and lightly grease a muffin tin.

Cut the butter into pieces. Mix the egg with the milk.

Sieve the flour, paprika and salt into a large mixing bowl, then rub the butter into the flour iuntil it resembles breadcrumbs.

Add the ham and the cheese to the mixing bowl, then pour in the egg and milk mixture. Mix thoroughly.

Spoon into the muffin tin and cook for 20 minutes, then leave on a wire rack to cool. :T

I must get round to cooking these tonight, as despite my best laid plans I got completely distracted by watching old episodes of Parks and Recreation with Mr Pinot! Nevertheless, this thread has spurred me on and I now have another 2 days of lunches to report - more hm roasted tomato soup and cucumber sticks for yesterday and leftover sausage squish squash and rice for today.

Currently on track with 3/18 days completed for #16
