Calling - you really are going through the mill at the moment. Hope things get better soon. I don't monitor that particular cc online as I am not registered with them for online banking (not sure if there was a problem and I gave up with it or not). Anyway I am getting sorted now so this shouldn't happen again.

NSK - good call on the landlord front by the sounds of it.

Today will be a spendy day, am having a grocery delivery, this will be the last one from my budget and on the 26th I will start a new grocery budget.

I have a few extra things to pay for from January's pay so I can't pay as much off the debts as I would like but I have been reallocating money and have decided that the kids will miss a couple of their pay as you go activities in February which adds up to £27 and this will go towards paying for the £50 swimming club membership. This is a previously unheard of thing for me to do.

Pay day is Friday and the extras to pay for are:

    £50 swim club
    £97 car tax
£33 balance of a school trip
    £20 Guides trip
£10 Cubs trip (he may not be going on this as they are having mashed potato for tea and the thought of it is too much to bear:rotfl:).

Today I am working from home, cleaning the bathroom, walking the dog (1 hour exercise), school run (40 minutes walking altogether), making a quick tea and cleaning a very large area of tiled floor.

  • Calling what a horrid thing for you to deal with this month! Just awful! And your flatmates little pooch - so sad! Hugs coming your way.

Siouxsie - reading other's postings puts into persepective how miniscule my problems are.

So I am grateful for the following...
    1. My health.
    2. Finding out now about the LL's unreliability before it was too late.
    3. Not having to fight to get money back from him.
    4. Tea after work with a friend who will be sympathetic ( you remember Geordie Boy?)
    5. My mechanic friend who fiddled with the alarm in the first place is calling my mechanic (who is closer to my home than my friend) to have words about how much it's costing and although he probably can't do much is offering me the use of his massive recovery van when I do manage to move house.
    6. The last two weeks of blissful silence while LLL and the pooch has been away...
So back to the drawing board. Although to add insult to injury having ran out of my dairy-free spread I used the LLL's Lurpak, came out in spots and replacing it cost me £3.65..???:eek::eek:

Ha ha, I was just thinking of Geordie boy the other day - how strange! Oh good, let him cheer you up :D
  • Update... just been on the phone with the ACTUAL mechanic and not the muppet that answers the phone.

Having asked him to find out if the part required was in stock or had to be sent away for to see where I was at with money and to call me back - he actually didn't bother and just went ahead and told the mechanic to start work. Muppet.

But I needed time to let my friend call to interrogate them so had told him to call off the ordering unbeknownst to me they had started work already...

Anyway - rambling.... I eventually spoke to a very lovely south african who told me after he added the new alarm, then took it out again after my call, then added mine back in - only to have my own alarm system start working again! YEAH!!!! :T:T:T..so I am only paying for the labour thanks to the MUPPET that works for them and the intitial pick up charge.

He also said that should I have this happen again and it turns out I do need the new alarm they will fit it for me and subtract the money that I have to pay now. RESULT!

Also that if I was going to sell it to come to them first and they would take it off my hands at the drop of a hat and right now I could be looking at £2000 should I decide to sell it....:)

    This guy was amazing!

Then I happened to mention that I might be travelling and was on the phone with him (after he asked to call me back to save my mobile fee:T) for 30 minutes talking about (or being talked at) how I should never visit South Africa, that I shouldn't go alone if I decide to go and then regaled me with stories of what happens to you if you wear too much gold jewellry in public, slow down late at night at traffic lights or walk into the wrong places at night.

I think my mother must have rang him to put the heebie jeebies up me and put me right off.....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Either way - one conundrum down, one to go. :p

    Where has the weekend gone?!?!

Back to work today... stayed on two hours extra - which, whilst it seemed to drag - I kept thinking it's all extra pennies off my debt.

Having read all that people are going through - I think it's important to be glad and grateful for the smaller things in life to help buoy us along... our health, a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothes on our backs... I know I've said all that before, but honestly... just spend a few moments thinking about all that we have - and suddenly you can turn around feeling like you have little - to feeling really well off... It works for me anyhow... Any change in life can be disconcerting - especially when it threatens one of the above... I guess that's why I feel it's even more vital to focus on the things that are going well... If you can stay positive - coping with the challenges can seem that much easier...

Changed my phone contract to a SIM only one which means my bill should go from £40-£45 p/m to £12.50!!! Am pleased about that!...

Planning a quiet evening in...No gym until Wednesday - but well chuffed I hit my 3/3 target last week!!!

Have a good one folks! :)

Well miracles (in a monetary sense) still happen. Not only payed OH me back and gave me the nursery money, he also put £300 into the wedding fund. Although I better wait and see how he gets on till next payday with what he has left, lol.

NSK, that was lucky with the bike.

Oh Calling, how awful. Big hugs to you - your luck really must change soon my dear...

Although I have spent today (on icing sugar for DH's cake) and not done any exercise due to a very long day, and eaten far too much - the aforementioned icing sugar when it became buttercream icing - I feel very grateful still for so much, and have no right to moan about anything other than my own lack of self control.

Sending hugs out into the dark cold night to find those that need them tonight... xx

£623.19. That is the amount that has come off our mortgage so far this month, even before we've been paid. :j Admittedly £400 of that is from dsd who was the reason it went up a few months ago, but I'm still chuffed.

Dh is away for 2 weeks, so I'm hoping to use the time to not spend much. He's arrived safely and called us at dd's bedtime so she's gone to bed happy.

Have rather fallen away from listing things to be grateful for, so must remedy that. Am grateful for a lovely dd who is full of cold and stoically keeping going; also for my stash of wool that gives me so much choice of colours to use; for my mum who will always give me her full attention when I call her; for the new management at work who are truly leading by example; for my microwaveable polar bear who is both keeping me warm and easing my aches.

Calling, you are going through the mill. Sending you lots of hugs:grouphug:

Kat, hope the room-hunt goes smoothly and the MUPPETS stop living up to their name.
