    Week 2 - Update

Hi there everyone. Things are going pretty well in Rainbow's world. I have been more disciplined with my spending than I have ever been in my life. I have unleashed an inner thrifty diva, that I didn't know existed!! Watch out world.

Apart from grocery shopping, I have spent nothing else, and I can report:-

    1. I have cut up my Next card and plan to have paid off the balance by the end of the month.

    2. I nearly had to spend money on a printer cartridge, but after fiddling around with options on the computer, I have managed to get it to print in a weird shade of blue, so that will have to do until February.

    3. I would have spent £35.00 on the gym this month, but using a combination of a free seven day pass, complimentary tickets and going as a guest, I have worked out that my 10 planned sessions this month will cost me nothing!

    Work on:-

I have fallen behind on earning extra money on my £5.00 a day challenge, so I commit to earning an extra £75.00 by the end of week three.

    TTFN x.
"I wondered why the Frisbee was getting bigger, and then it hit me". £9/£250
    Project Peacock - 2/33 - 1lb/7lb target.
    £6.00 a day challenge £118.77/£170
    Mtge debt includes car purchase - £46,381/ now £44,336 - Paid 4.4%
    Emergency Savings 550.00/£1000

    Hi All

Am back again from my marathon spending expedition and £190 spent so far.. I think the universe is working in my favour today :j So, mse things as follows...

    1. £10 eye test and retinal imaging voucher given in Boot$. £15 saved :T
    2. Haggled with car breakdown provider, £18 saved + 3 months cover for free. :T
    3. Apart from new mobile phone top up obligation, phone on shelf was £89.99, then reduced to £74.99 as already a PAYG customer, then £69.99 at the till! £20 saved :T
    4. £1.90 for 2 £1 (should be £1.26) Waitrose shower gels, 52p + 10p= 62p saved. :T
    5. Free latte at Waitrose, £1.80 saved :T
    6. Wilko toileteries instead of Te$c, £2 odd saved :T
    7. Walked into town first time around, so fuel saved.. Then topped up with 126.9 fuel gaining clubcard points on taking the car the second time around, so saved on fuel prices :T
    8. Next stop later, Te$co yellow sticker stalking, more money WILL be saved. :T

    The excitement never ends!

    Afternoon fellow MSE'ers,

How's everyone doing today? The weather here is rather cool and a bit blowy with the promise of rain, not the most inspiring of days :o

Have managed another SFD so at least thats something :D. Well today was the first day of the OH's training program, a 3.5km jog in the local park! I say OH's program, they drove us there and back and I ran the show in between (i'm a bossy mare sometimes :p). It was a walk/run affair and took us 30 mins, now I know the accomplished runners out there will think this is just a gentle warm up but we're both sat at home right now feeling very happy with ourselves although that'll soon wear off when we try and get out of bed tomorrow morning!

Quite impressed with OH for completing it as they aren't the most natural of runners.

Siouxsie32 - I would definitely challenge the ticket - don't ask, don't get! I'm not sure I would admit I realised the ticket was upside down, I would probably let them point that out and then explain how incredulous I was that the council didn't employ staff with enough common sense to realise the ticket was upside down and check it regardless.

I realise you haven't conformed to the requirements exactly but do we really live in such a petty bureaucratic world that a parking attendant can not use a bit of common sense, sometimes I despair, I really do :(

    Sorry rant over....

I have only three spend days left if I'm going to come in on target this month. I'm going to need petrol in about 5 days so this will be the first spend day. I'll need to squeeze 5 main meals out of the freezer/cupboard to make this spend day, should be fun :)

I can't downshift any of the brands we use, I did this when we first started on this journey and it was certainly an eye opener. We don't actually use any 'Branded' goods unless they're on an unbeatable offer. After racking my brains the only thing I could find to downshift was my choice of car park when we last went into town. I generally use the town centre car park but chose the slightly further one on the other side of the river which saved us some pennies :D

    Well, off to start tea.....

P.S. just read rosiecheeksblossom first link...very funny but avoid and save yourself the rise in blood pressure if you're easily offended :p

    evening all

not a sfd today as colleague brought some eggs in from her hens. only £1 per box and are better than any supermarket ones. also spent 90p posting a card.

skinny rules out window as just been to greasy drive thru and had chic burger and chips for a mystery shop. im now sittimg looking at the £12.50 box of hotel chocolat chocs i got a friend for her bday in oct. i havent seen her since then and tbh im sick of always arranging stuff and she hasnt contacted me! i unwrapped them and they are bbe jan 14 so need eaten this month! they were v expensive so dont want to just take into work. thinking about eating them all tonight as they look gorg :EasterBun

after some advice about puss- when i got him he weighed 3.9kg and vet said he was a big boy but was not fat (he is just big). last few weeks he hasnt eaten as much but is still behaving the same and off out most of the day. assumed he was just being fusy and has got bored of his food again or was maybe eating elsewhere. however just attempted to weigh him and he seems to be 0.4 kg lighter (but scales varried by 0.2 kg when i weighed him again so not sure how accurate). his back def feels more bony but i still cant feel his ribs unless i poke him hard. do you think i should be concerned about him? he is still going to his bowl all day and picking and still pestering me for food at feeding time! have only had him 4 months so not sure

I would take him to get checked at the vet, especially if his personality has changed. That happened with one of my cats this year, he got skinny quite quickly and by the time we took him to the vets he was in organ failure and we had to have him PTS :( Cats hide when they're ill, so we had no idea until he got suddenly lethargic.

Hopefully your kitty is fine, but if you can't see a reason for the weightloss it might be better to get him checked.

hmmm he is still behaving exactly the same, being a little tinker and chasing a pen around at the moment. he has just eaten his dinner as well :) think im going to lock in him tomorrow so i can examine his poo in the litter tray for worms. its so hard as hes just had a drink and i dont normally notice him drinking so now im convincing myself hes drinking more. in reality if i ever left a glass of water around he would drink the whole lot so hes just drinking it out of his own bowl instead!

edit- going to ring the helpline service that i get with my insurance as can speak to a vet nurse

MrsGSR - what a pain having to pay for school dinners daily, we have just gone onto parentpay at our school and the minimum payment is £10 per child so when mine want the odd school dinner (themed ones usually) it would be £10 each then the rest of the money will sit there till they have another. You can't even transfer that money to pay for a trip etc as it is all in separate categories.

clippy - I would give the cat a couple of days and see how he is, worm him for sure though as you may not even see any evidence of the worms in his poo.

Oh and get those chocolates eaten and enjoy them at those prices you can't waste them.

That's a good idea. Yeah its annoying, I would rather pay into an account a certain amount then say when she wants lunch.
The school I worked at used to bill you at the end of the half term. I would personally rather pay upfront and say she needs lunch every Tuesday. (She has ballet on a Tuesday so it sustains her for longer)
