Can't remember if I've already checked in and I'm on my phone so it's too fiddley to check, sorry if I have checked in twice!
SFD number 3, lunch to work and exercise session number 6. Diet is going well except that after a day at work I'm grumpy and starving, obviously burn more calories at work than at home!

Crazylady - how did you manage to feed 10 people for £5. I am intrigued!!!
My first time quoting..will this work? Thanks for those who posted how to back a while in the thread.
I was calculating the cost to me…Our fantabulous feast had to have 4 courses (to enable the murder mystery to happen) so we included:
1) crisps and dips (contributed between 2 guests)…I did contribute from stores a big bag of crisps, but we ended up with this full from left overs at the end, so I haven’t counted it
2) salad (contributed by guest, who even thought to bring dressing with them!) and lasagne made from: 3 x packs of mince, reduced to 50p/pack from freezer, onions purchased for this (bag =50p but excess left), whole fresh tomatoes reduced to 30p/pack x 2, oil, garlic and herbs from stores, fresh lasagne sheets reduced to 10p/bag x 2. A big slurp of left over from xmas wine. White sauce – cheese from xmas stash, milk from freezer had been reduced to 30p/4 pints J potato wedges 69p pack x 2, garlic bread x 2 reduced to 19 p each.
3) 3) Crumble made from frozen donated apples, frozen foraged blackberries, sugar, butter & flour from stores. Was a bit stingy with the crumble so it looked like little islands, but some of the kids don’t like the topping but do like the fruit…that’s my excuse! Greek yoghurt reduced to 10p, angel delight (it was in the menu suggestions for the party!!) (sachet bought by guests, used more of my cheapo milk)
4) 4) Tea/coffee and chocolates from xmas presents – folk bought the chocolates they didn’t like and we swapped. Total of stuff purchased for the evening = £4.96
(I did buy a bottle of white wine (from my social fund J and from Mr A – downshift for me) as I lost my nerve and didn't want to only have red in the house, just in case everyone bought red / none, but wanted white. Like that ever happens, but you worry! We ended up with a net gain in alcohol so mine didn’t get used.
I think a few things helped – friends who you can say, “don’t worry about a hostess gift, bring a bit of the grub and this is what I need you to bring, however random it sounds”, the murder distracted everyone from eating as we were all taking so much, so in other circumstances we might not have had enough to go around, it was January and everyone is fed up with eating, and obviously I had some of the makings in stores already. But I was still chuffed as before I wouldn’t have held my nerve, or planned the menu around what I had, but would have bought the whole lot of ingredients in one big last minute shop probably.
Oh, it also helped greatly that DD was with her dad for xmas this year, so having dropped her there late xmas eve afternoon I went to the two nearest supermarkets and bought LOTS of yellow stickered stuff for the freezer. Made me feel much better as I was a bit
And we had 2 portions of lasagne for the freezer, salad, and wedges left for the next days tea, plus extra white sauce for a mac n cheese :rotfl:0 -

Had some bad news today in that my redundancy may happen a lot sooner than expected but doing this challenge is making me feel positive about it as I know we will manage.
Really Sorry to hear this XSpender! Definitely in the right place to rework budgets etc...Hope you have the time you need to prepare!Well, first day back to work for me after about 2 hours sleep on the sofa last night as I was coughing really badly and didn’t want to disturb DH. So consequently I feel ruffff, and my back is worse than ever due to trying to curl round big cat who refused to budge. No exercise today as a result, but no spends.
Back to the vets tomorrow with Kitty – 5 times in a month now – she seems to have some kind of ear infection. Sigh. Poor thing, but I am eating my words when I confidently said on November’s challenge that getting a rescue kitten would not cost us anything much extra…
Hope you and Kitty get better soon!
So Today is my: 4th Sfd :j

Fairly productive day here, too.
- Food from stores, including LTW which actually got eaten at dinner time
- Took my can do attitude into work and nailed a few annoying jobs that hang over me
- Walked DD's forgotten PE kit over to her Dads instead of popping in the car - I'm tempted to count this as exercise as I still feel so full of cold it took a lot of effort not to get in the car! Actually enjoyed the walk, even in the rain.
- Guest bookings this week (*2) = £170. I won't be counting it as income until its in the bank, but it looks like that is winging our way by this time next week :rotfl:
- Decided to hold my nerve over milk purchasing which has meant I couldn't have much milk tonight - need there to be enough for guests breakfast! But means another NSD today!
- There are a couple people watching the items I ebayed yesterday. Fingers crossed, hey, but good start I think.
- Resolved to ask boss tomorrow about me doing overtime for a project. Technically I can't get overtime at my grade, but I think she might let me earn it at a lower grade in order to achieve this specific project. There are a few extenuating circumstances due to people moving etc. Fingers crossed again.

Evening. Went shopping today and have done a food shop to last till a week on saturday. Spent 61.13 but that was meat, veg, fruit etc. So I am planning on many nsd's coming up. I am a nightmare in the supermarket. So figured that if I don't need to go back then I won't spend. Have been busy making plans for free activities. Need to get out the house as oh is unwell and the atmosphere is oppressive to say the least.
Kids back at school tomorrow and nursery starts on wed. Hoping for dry weather tomorrow so I can walk the school run.
Talking of school run I must sleep now as it will be a shock to our systems.
