I love this! I definitely spent too long fixating on what I wasn't able to do rather than the good I was doing.. not sure if my new improved attitude is helping me much financially but it is making me feel much better about debt-busting!Begin again: November 2015. Debt at £12,500

Somehow I have managed to delete myself from the forums, can't get my username back so I have just set up a new profile so similar user name, have just managed to copy my signature from previous post :j so at least I still have all my figures there.
Today will be a NSD only need to get DS2 hair cut but will do it tomorrow when I do main grocery shop to save wasting a NSD :T:T
Got to collect DS2 prescription from chemist today so will pop in to see my parents they need help downloading something from internet (very new to using internet) and DF wants me to trim his hair as well.
Going to do meal plans for next week ready for Ald! Shop tomorrow.
We have decided to buy Merlin passes this month whilst they are half price so that we can have some cheap days out during the year and Dd1 & DS1 are going to buy there own now they are both earning so looking forward to lots of cheap days out throughout the yearI know not very frugal to buy whilst we have debt to pay but will mean we can have days out during school holidays, bank holidays etc which will be all paid for even car parking is covered so I can justify this. Going to buy them on one of my speedy days so as not to waste a NSD:eek::D

Good morning,
first day back in work and did my numbers.
Spend about a third of my food budget but got loads in and leftovers from the holidays but need fresh fruit and milk (tried making up the instant milk I had left but it was stale, too old) today.
Found I had £16 in vouchers from surveys so transferred them to my Amazon account but spend £8 of then on those clips you use for haircutting (non branded "crea clips") as I don't feel great about my body being pregnant but at least want to have a decent diy haircut to distract.
Also not sure how I'll make my exercise target. I am now 30 weeks pregnant and OH won't let me cycle to work any more (although I hope he'll change his mind on days when the weather is better again).
Glad I am not that busy today as there are already another 4 pages to catch up with

MrsGSR 'It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world.' I LOVE THIS! It's so true! I love stepping away from the consumer treadmill and caring less and less about 'the right clothes' and 'the right hair' and the house looking like a magazine shoot (not that it ever did!) and I find using Applemuncher's things to be grateful about a real help too. I struggle with this time of year too and since forever we have always had a holiday round this time to help, but obv not this year and I worry that this is going to have a big impact. At the moment I am doing ok tho, despite a bad back, a head cold that won't shift and the thought of going back to work on Monday! Hugs to you - you are doing great!
I will be back later with updated totals as we are planning a spendy day - need some bits and to not waste a SD we are now planning on getting everything we pretty much need for the month, and swinging by the gym on the way home for a swim (can't do much else due to my back today)
Hope everyone's rats/ cats/ rabbits are ok. We are anxiously watching kitty as the antitbiotics finish on Monday next. She is ok at the moment, but if this does not work the vet said he is stumped and it will be v expensive with lots of tests etc. gulp.
Anyway, stay safe in this weather folks

Hi all.
Today will be a SFD, if we do venture out it will just be to the Library.
Will have to spend tomorrow as I have to buy football socks for DS, he is playing in his first ever football match on Sunday and needs black socks, I should be able to pick up a pair for a couple of pounds.
It's nice to see people reminding themselves of all the good things in their lives, I do this when my family are moaning about things, we are all healthy, well fed and clothed and have each other.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

:wave:Hello there
Just wondering if I can join in too as I'm needing to remain focused on getting rid of our debt.
I'm a nursing student and dh works full time. We've been in debt before and cleared it, however find ourselves in a scary amount of debt having bailed out our limited company and a family member's business using our credit cards- (in retrospect it might have been more sensible to declare bankruptcy for our business and let the family member's business go bust, but heigh ho!)
I have contributed to cutting back on spending quite dramatically as I was smoking heavily until three months ago when I stopped. Hubby still smokes, but in his defence, it's really about self medication as we are both pretty stressed because of circumstances outwith our control. We are taking it cheerily though and spend a lot of time doing fun, inexpensive/free stuff together.
Anyway, I have one sfd under my belt for January.... but that is because nothing is open in my town in Scotland on New Year Day rather than because I'm virtuous.I'm aiming to try to cover food for the month for five of us (three adults two teenagers) and a hungry labrador on £200. This is possibly not realistic but I'd rather start low and work up as needed. I also have a fairly full freezer! Transport will be budgeted at £65 a week as I'm on placement which means a round trip of 100 miles 4 days a week and one trip into uni a week of 120 miles. I have no idea if that is going to be enough or too much. Buses etc are not an option for placement because of shift times.
I'm taking my debts as credit cards first, then business overdraft (guaranteed by us) then personal overdrafts then mortgage. I have no idea what my debt free day will be.
CC debt currently stands at £19030, Business o/d at £10 000 personal o/d's 2500 and mortgage at 57000.
My personal weaknesses are wool (the buying of it) the 3pm doughnut, books and the charity shop bargain. My husbands are computer games and cigarettes.
Ummm, I think that's it for the time being......No spend days 2/20, Food for 5 for January £30.67/£200, Fuel/Transport £0/260, Charitable giving £20
Foodbank donations £8, Debt Slain Nov 2012 to date £1956/£19030 Walk 2/31 days meditation 2/31 days0 -

Today is looking like my first SFD! Wahoo!!
Brought food and snacks to work, filled car with petrol yesterday and dinner is being cooked for me tonight! Happy Days! Lets hope I can continue with SFD's over the weekend, have 2 meals out (being bought for me) and series 5 of Breaking Bad to watch so excuse to spend any extra!
Plus managed a 20 min stroll around the park at lunch!
I'm grateful for the sun shining through the clouds and brightening up the office for a few minutes! EHxx0 -

I got my passport photos taken today (AWFUL!) and have got the form to fill in this afternoon, so I can hopefully take it to get checked at the post office tomorrow. I got an email today telling me I've been refunded for a glitch order of petfood so I'll have a credit balance on my credit card as I had already cleared it this month. I used £1 of that to buy a loaf of bread today as Mr Mooo finished the loaf last night and tried to ruin my SFD today :rotfl:
I doubt I'll get all my exercise done today as the weather is awful here and I don't want to get drookit. My folks are visiting this weekend so I imagine I'll get plenty walking done with them around various shopping centres...0
