Happy new year one and all. Suddenly last night's (spend free :)) partying doesn't seem such a good idea. Crawled home at 7am and now I'm up for work again. My _party_ of yesterday seems to have turned a little _pale_ this morning. Oh well, strong coffee will get me through. I hope!

So, I'm banking my first SFD - I know there are still 14 hours of this day left, but there's nowhere to spend my ££ at work today so I'm confident of number one.

Have a nice day everyone - kinda jealous right now of all last night's PJ people. Why didn't I do that

    Happy new year everyone!

0/20 SFDs today will definitely be one!
0/£150 food budget  normally it's £220 but thanks to hubby and his overspend on Christmas food :mad: it's down to this. I spent £37 the other day for the week so fingers crossed we should be ok.
0/£30 petrol yes this seems low but I try and walk as much as possible (this is where the exercise comes in)
0/5 brand downshift I'm not sure I can get any lower than what I buy :rotfl:
0/£3 food bank this is becoming a regular thing now and there is a drop off point at the shop near the school so really handy.
0/15 exercise sessions the school run, should be easy if the weather isn't too bad.
0/£50 I'm going out for dinner with some friends and it's DSs birthday.

I don't go to coffee shops so that part is easy, I don't go to the pub because I have kids :rotfl: I work nights so don't take lunch to work but I only have water in my break. All my envelopes were done on payday but due to the speed awareness course I have to do some juggling around of money!

My personal debt is £333, and I'm doing the 1 debt v 100 days challenge so am hoping to have it paid off by 10th March 2014:eek: failing that it will be the end of April as I get my work bonus then and plan to slam some onto the debt.
The rest of the debt in my signature is DHs, he is hoping to be debt free by 31st August 2014. Then the saving to our joint savings can start again!

Spend day for me. I am weighing in at SW but it has been budgeted for. Tomorrow should be a NSD and possibly Friday. We are using up from our cupboard at the moment so I am trying to leave it as long as possible before we go shopping. I am also inundated with cosmetics and smelliest so should have enough for 6 months. Same as clothes. Am ill (not terminally)so need to cut back as I do not know what the future holds as it's possible it may prevent me from working full time in the future.

Good luck all and Happy New Year!:)

Starting as I mean to go on: have done a workout and had a good, protein-rich brekky in bed with dh and dd. Today WILL be sugar and grain free, because I've told you so, so I now have to do it!

Have convinced dd that it IS a good idea to go out in the pelting rain, with our wellies on, looking for mud! Otherwise she'll end up inside all day again! Dh is also joining us for fun and frivolity in the puddle-hunting quest.:j:rotfl:

    Happy New Year everyone.

This is my first time doing this challenge and I think I have just about got DH on board too.

I am responsible for most of our debts but not all, we both need to change our mind set regarding spending. Our food and petrol budget runs from 26th to 25th of the next month due to pay days so we have already spent some and I will put actual figures on here later in the day. We are expecting a NSD today but will have to spend tomorrow.

With regard to outings for the month we are going out for lunch Monday for DS's 8th birthday, it won't be expensive and is already budgeted for, later in the month we will be going to visit friends and will be taking wine bought from our food budget.

  • Wow!!! Another year begins!! And I am super excited!:j:j:j

I have so many plans to get on the move but am wanting to shout a very big WELCOME to the newbies and those that might be on their second month!!!

A bit of admin first.... for those that are new...I do use capitals for emphasis only! I want to drive home some ideas / thoughts / and mental processes (philosophical I am) that NEEDS capital lettering and in no way do I want you to think that I am shouting at you!:A

We do not shout here - but we do question and will be asking you to explain the holiday you booked while still in debt, the birthday dinner you think you deserve while still in debt, the money you received expectantly that you will spoil yourself with instead of putting to debts...

It's simply because we care. I care. About your DFD (debt free day), about keeping you on track and making sure you realise how important ALL the pennies are ( there's that emphasis I was talking about:)) and I want to keep the momentum of your enthusiasm going until the very end.

So I want to make sure you all have a DFD in mind - now set it in stone!!! And declare it in your signature - I will be checking everyone's signature by the way. DFD and debt amount must be listed! Make it public and scream it loud and proud - this is where you are but by jove you will change it!
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I will try to answer everyone on a daily basis and mention achievements etc and encouragement as best I can. I have never had this many people sign up in one month so it can be hard to keep track everyday. I sometimes miss people but it doesn't mean you have not been noticed - if you are new tell us a bit about you or post the link to your personal diary.

Right thats it. For me today - spring cleaning!!:j:j

    _party__party_:dance:Happy new year everyone!! _party__party_:dance:

so had a really good night at the party last night. was reasonably sensible with drinks and had about 5 glasses wine. got in at 3.30  no taxis but i walked back with a friend as it was on his way back:A so total spends was just under £25 :T still got £77 of monthly personal spends budget left (budget starts 19th) so should have most of that left at end of month :)

    So onto the rules
    • Food budget-Mine is £110 per month for just me. I eat loads of fruit and meat so have recently upped it. My budget starts on 19th but I am on track to come in under I think.
    • Petrol budget- This will be £40. If I have to do a lot of work journeys this may go up but I will get it back.
    • Down-shift 5 brands- Only eat 3 branded things and dont want to drop 2 of them. Everything else is value already pretty much as I cook from scratch and have started shopping in Aldi's.
    • Pre-arrange any outings- Going rollerskating (bought a groupon deal and two pub visits (but will not be drinking)
    • Exercise is now your friend. Already member of expensive gym :o but I do use it! Will be aiming for minimum 6 visits per week even if its just for a swim
    • Choose a Debt Free Date now. 30 April 2014. This is ambitious but will aim for it.
    • No purchasing of alcohol Fine. Also off sugar!
Going to be a SFD today and will go for a swim in a while after some housework. 1st proper day of doing skinny rules and will be logging stuff on myfitnesspal :A
