Afternoon, not been on much of late as I have taken to hiding the tablet in the day because DS keeps finding it and playing on it!
Well it's pay day today and I have sat and done my budget for this month. I did have a spendy day as I spotted some bits in the supermarket that I work in that have been reduced to clear that would be ideal as part of my friends children's birthday presents so not only have I saved a packet but I won't have the usual panic that comes round when the birthdays draw nearer (DD's and my friends eldest children were all born within 2 weeks of each other so I have 4 additional gifts to get, luckily our second children's birthdays are a bit more spread out!)
Car tax due at the end of the month but I already have half the money saved for that. Both DH and I have car tax due this month so we decided a would get a year this time and he would get 6 months so we don't end up having to pay out huge amounts at the same time.
As our JA is looking extremely healthy we have decided to use the two months council tax free months money towards our car tax, well this was DH's idea, so pretty good for him!
I've been working through all our insurances and so far have redone home insurance, tomorrow I will be finalizing life assurance and income protection, I have quotes I just need to confirm a few details. This will save us a heck of a lot annually so well worth it so this means I can up our payments to the children's accounts and start up our emergency account payments again. DH says when he is debt free he will pay more into it so possibly £200 a month, that would be good.
I'm already looking forward to next months challenge,I find they give me such a good focus. I can't believe the difference it has made.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Did my numbers, have more SFDs than thought but also overspend quite a bit especially in the others budget due to an unexpected birthday lunch and a case of not being able to pay what we ate but a share (£60 instead of £40). Was a bit more lax about grocery spends and it was a long month I guess.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

The end of the month is looming and although I won't reach the set targets, I have thought long and hard about purchases. Feeling like a positive start to the year and each month can only get better! L2B.xLBM 2008 [STRIKE]£45,091.23[/STRIKE] eek: now £7889:T Debt free date 18/07/20180

I have at incredible length managed to do a balance transfer of £5900 at 0% for 2 years to my existing Barclaycard which had a zero balance, the fee is about 2 month interest costs so all good. Took forever to sort out, mainly because DH is the cardholder so I couldn't make the call to see what was on offer.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I thought about getting the Ald1 voucher too, but decided that I wouldn't spend £40 next time I go there. Dh is away and I'm eating simpler food as once I get in from work, it's dd's tea time then bedtime routine. So I've been cooking veg + protein (chicken or prawns) in red pesto. Yummy yummy in my tummy! It's the first time in aaaaages that I've not got their voucher - I usually buy 2 papers. So am now determined to spend under £40 on Tues! (insert determined smilie)
A good day all round here. Work is great, am enjoying it more now and feel much more relaxed there. Dd loved school and went to bed easily. The duvet dried in time for me to snuggle in it now (dd spilled her milk over it this morning so had to wash it and hang it up before leaving the house!). Did a Tilly Tidy, acquired another NSD, kept off the sugar and grains and spent 20 mins on the stepper. Smug face is on! And tomorrow is Friday! :j:j:j:j:jNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Evening all.
Another spendy day today - unplanned.
My lunch wasn't really doing it for me today so I bought a pasty and a pink iced finger. I also paid £3 teaboat money and £1.50 towards a colleague's birthday card/present.
Hoping for a SFD tomorrow and will get another one in over the weekend.
Nothing else to report. Am so looking forward to the weekend as it has been one of those weeks - so a glass of wine is in order tomorrow night I think.
Have a good Friday everyone!0 -
Mixed day. My stomach problem is back & I've been in bed most of the day, but at least it was a NSD!
