I really don't understand that point...
If couples choose to have children then it's not only their choice, the child becomes their responsibility.
The Government of the day (Lib/Lab/Con/whatever...) should have no reason to support that couple's decision financially.

There are many couples that delay having a family until they can support their family unit...as it should be.

I've absolutely no objections to paying taxes to support those that find themselves in dire need through no choice of their own.

    I agree.
However, children need not be that expensive to bring up.
As a single mum of two little ones (three older ones) I used TERRY NAPPIES and calculated that after 3 months they cost almost nothing to nappyfy the baby. Costing side by side, terry against disposable, for 3 months ran even, then after that the terries only needed washing, liners, and outers. Saving tons of ££££.
My youngest two were breast fed. Saving ££££££. The milk vouchers I used to buy milk (and freeze some) and sold to friends so I could buy fruit and veg.
They wore hand me downs, as do I.

I saved every penny I could, and now run a successful business.

MOney- I think NYM is supporting people who find themselves in a difficult financial situation through no fault of their own e.g. losing a job, rather than DS breeding bunnies.

What I meant by 'that point' is there are hardworking families out there who are on a low income that hardly get any support compared to those who have never worked and continue growing there families whether the can afford it or not. I think the governments got it all wrong and benefits should definitely be capped to those who don't contribute... And more support should be given to the working families on low incomes.

My husband and I have been together 10 years and we have delayed having children until now. My pregnancy was planned as we can support our child. Our choice is truly our responsibility.

I also have no objections to paying my taxes like yourself... I don't know any different, it's all I've ever done since I was 16.

All I wanted to know is is there anything available for those who go on reduced salaries during maternity leave etc.... I've had family and friends bug me to find out, so I thought u would ask here... I don't need benefits... I don't need support. I only asked a simply question when I created this thread.

Just to state a point to those that I have rattled their cages...

When I created the thread I asked a simple question....as family and friends said I should look in to it.... I knew I wouldn't get any help! Just thought I would ask a friendly forum!

I DONT expect the government to support me in any way.

I've been with my husband 10 year, we've worked for everything, not received help from parents or the government, and we've managed and sometimes really struggled when we were on lower incomes.

We planned our pregnancy as it was the right time for us.

I don't think the government owes me anything! But I do think the whole system is wrong, and more help should be available for the low income working families compared to those who haven't paid a penny into the system.

People on low-ish incomes can get tax credits when on materinty leave and could get childcare help through tax credits if they return to work. But unlikely to apply to you in your circumstances. You'll get child benefit.

Have a look on the turn2us calculator if you want to know about other circumstances for friends etc. http://www.turn2us.org.uk/benefits_search.aspx

    No not really....

There's hardly any support for those losing a job etc... I know people a lot of people in financial hardship like losing a job and get naff all.

However those who breed bunnies like you stated.... Get a lot of help and have never worked a day i their lives....

I, however are not one of those bunny breeders... Don't expect help.

How can you claim that the system is wrong when you have just posted in a forum asking how the system works?

Perhaps you should think about understanding the system before forming a critical opinion.

The system is wrong... It's common knowledge. You just have to read the stories in the papers of those family's over breeding, not working, wanting a bigger house, wanting more money, having sky and all the best gadgets. They think the government owe them everything.

What I was asking when I asked the simple question in this thread...Was if there's any help support that is not openly advertised- whether it's child care help etc maybe I should of stated it clearer.

    I didn't expect a thing!

Well not really, he is attempting to preach to a woman who seems to me to have a very good work ethic and is looking to find out if there is any additional support available to her and her family.

From what I can tell her household income is just slightly lower than mine so will be paying a lot of tax into the system and I think it is wrong that the government don't give more support to the families which are on middle incomes.

Since when has ignorance ever stopped people having an opinion :rotfl:

I was chatting to some numpty about benefits on a night out a couple of weeks ago - he was claiming benefits are nowhere near enough and how people have to resort to foodbanks/stealing/working cash in hand in order to get enough to live on.

So I gave him an example, think it was single mother 3 kids £150pw rent, and asked him how much she'd get in benefits (I'm sad enough to be able to give a reasonable estimate off the top of my head).

He didn't have a clue, so I got him to guess, his estimate was ridiculously low (well under half). I didn't tell him, and just asked him what he thinks it should be. He came in under what it actually is!

I told him to check on entitledto. Bet he doesn't and bet he still thinks benefits are too low even though they're higher than what he said they should be. Mere facts don't seem to change peoples' opinions.

Democracy is flawed as most voters are idiots :rotfl:
