I've no idea how people pay soooo much off of their debts...a bit disheartened that i've only paid another measly £44.95

    That's a grand total of
#101 £368.97/2500.00 this month which is actually a miracle... a bit of good luck thanks to the tax office and credit card refund fee, budgeting £100 food and £100 fuel...onwards with the slog I guess! :(

I felt a bit like that too when I see people paying off £1500+ in a month! But everyones circumstances are different.

I paid off £666 this month but when you break it down:

£100 refund from the water company (over payments throughout the years)
    £80 cash from Christmas
    £20 Envirophone
£40 Trade in for cash (great site by the way if anyone has any old games)
    £70 ebay sale

This adds up to £310. If you knock that off the £666 then you can see I managed £356 from my wage, which is actually less than you I think! :)

Some months are "luckier" than others. I had a lucky month.

Welcome mothernerd  you're number 147!

Blubella - please dont be disheartened, as ItsOver says it all depends on everyone's circumstances. Some months are definitely easier than others but every little counts!

    BritAbroad - you are flying!

A payment of £80 from me, making:

    #02 £500/£3500

Woohoo! Down to the 3k mark :) i'm hoping i'll be able to continue this and knock £500 off the debt a month. Fingers crossed.

    spreadsheet updated to here.

First off don't be disheartened. you haven't ONLY paid off £44.95; you HAVE paid off £44.95. It is still a reduction in debt. Don't knock it. Every single penny helps.

Personally I have paid off a bigger chunk than I thought I would thanks to refunds from both gas and electric providers after we switched. February will also see a big(ish) payment thanks to no council tax. Like It'sOver said "Some months are luckier than others"

    Keep going x

I think paying debts off and losing weight are very similar!!

It's easy to put weight on/spends £'s on a credit card BUT
harder to lose weight/pay debts off!

Some people have more to lose/pay off than others!

Some people appear to be better at it than others!

Some months are easier than others!

You need a motivation to get started - thanks to this site for giving me mine!

It feels great when you've achieved it but it's a battle for life!

    Any other analagies?

Looking at your signature you're doing really well!

I have up days and down days. I have managed to spend nothing on myself this month (except for Pepsi Max... thats my vice, £8 on 8 2 litre bottles over the month) I am lucky in that my boyfriend has been spoiling me otherwise I would no doubt have splurged on myself.

I have no willpower, but I AM getting so much better. And its only month 1 (not sure how long you've been going)

We will all get there, even if not this month or this year, progress is progress! I love this thread as I love seeing my %% go up and up, even when I feel I am only making small dints. I may just think '£53 is nothing' but its 1% of my debt! And 100 of those and I'm done!

    :(

Everyone's circumstances are different though - I can feel jealous of the payments too, but as long as you pay what you can afford, that's what matters.

I completely echo this one - not just paying off debt, but money management in general. I get the same feeling of deprivation when I go on a really frugal spending month, and will feel equally as guilty when I splurge and think 'was it worth it'. The only nice thing is, it's so much easier to return that cardigan you didn't really need...
