Instead of paying off student fees as intended this month, I am keeping the cash as a buffer for Feb/March instead. Things could go wrong and the rabbit needs to go to the vet so I need to be sensible about paying things off...

I think I live in a time warp sometimes. I bought my car 2 years ago, and it was 8 years old. I realised last night that it's no longer 8, it's now 10  Need to start putting money aside for a new one, just in case something breaks worth more than the car.

I'm getting really depressed thinking of all the things I need to put money aside for right now. I think I need about £15k to cover everything, which will take a few years even if I'm very frugal! This is when I get really depressed when others seem to be able to pull together the money in 5 minutes flat :(

MINICOOPER i had friends like that, they always seemed to find the money no matter what the occasion, emergency etc and i used to rack my brains thinking how do they do it they must be very good with money, then i found out they were £50k in debt, and had nothing to show for it, it was silly things like bbqs, parties, new cars, meals out, shopping at waitrose to keep up appearances, throwing money at the kids to go into town on a saturday, clothes etc then all they used to do was take out loans, remortgage the house, borrow from family, and then pay it off, then start again, i would be living on my nerves even more than now

Yes, I think some of them do have a lot of credit, but others don't have any, and they're the ones that bug me! I suppose we just don't know their expenses though. Maybe some people decide they're saving, and only eat porridge for a month? I don't know - it's like the secret of skinny people who eat everything!

MiniCooper I hadnt thought of that thanks! Hopefully they'll accept that.

Horrid realisation earlier that Ive been in debt for almost 12 years... basically my whole entire adult life (turn 30 in March). I need these debts gone, once and for all.... I'd honestly cry if I hadnt already cried so much today

  • Hello everyone, can I join please???

I am determined to get debt free, and even though one of my loans doesn't end until Nov 2015, I really think I can sort out a lot this year. I have only been on the forum since September and already have sorted out so much thanks to this website.

  • Sorry forgot my target! £5000

This would clear most of my debt - leaving one loan which ends Nov 2015.

I know how you feel. Been in debt since I was 19 and i'm now 32. Can't fathom how much i've borrowed and paid back (don't want too) but 4 months (ish) and it'll be gone :)

I'm really impatient and have to wait over a week to pay something off!!!!!:mad:
    In debt no more!
