  • Made a start at last! £300 paid towards my Capital One card :D It's been so frustrating being ready to make a start on getting this paid off but not actually having the pennies in the bank account to do it!

Been catching up on the thread and some great progress being made - well done everyone!

I decided before Christmas that 2014 was to be the year I finally paid off all my debts and have now stumbled upon this thread!

My total at the start of the year was £4000 but I have paid £500 so far so:

    £500/£4000

Thank you in advance if I am allowed to join!

Hi, it's not a link so not clickable sorry. As minicooper, suzitiger and myself share the updating duties, it's just a note to let the other admins know where we're up to. Minicooper can then update the front page and also give monthly totals etc.

  • freespirit66 it's no bother at all, it takes about a second to change your target! Well done for the payment

argomatt well done for the payment. Have definitely picked up the payment this time!

CAFCGirl - can you tell them that you and your husband keep finances separate? My parents do that too, and I think they accepted that from my Mum.

Well done for cancelling the cards R-O - you've reminded me I need to close a couple of old accounts too. I cut up the cards ages ago, but the accounts are still there…

Determined diva - I sympathise with that feeling. You're not a fraud though! I realised money management became a bit like being on a faddy diet, and it helped put it in perspective. I'm working hard on changing my mentality just now; instead of binging and telling myself off, I'm trying to stop at the front end and ask 'what's more important right now?' It's brave of you to come forward, now you get to move onwards and upwards :)

floella well done on breaking 30%!! A third there, and we're bearly 2 weeks into the year :T

    Welcome to the newbies

Sorry, this one was probably confusing for you both jonesy and Moneysavingtrainee - Moneysavingtrainee, I had you down on the spreadsheet as an early member but waiting for debt total. You're number 057, so I will give number 123 to the next newbie (unless you prefer 123?)
  • Got my credit card bill today and have paid the minimum only because I still need to find about £600 extra this month! Not going to happen and don't want to put anything back on the credit card! Where there's a will there's a way right? Praying for a miracle!

Any way after interest is taken of I have paid £54.56 from the debt.

    #114 total so far £125.57/£5840

I'm not sure if you updated my miscalculation and saw that I had to add a further £40 to my total.

  • Hi all

Just checking in.. made a big step today! The largest debt of just over £8k I have been paying £50 per month for the past 2 years. I had the money, but was not making myself the true broke that I realy am and still carrying on with the lifestyle that got me into debt in the first place.

Today - I re looked at my spreadsheets I did pre xmas and I said that I was going to pay £700... so I changed my standing order to pay that amount every month now.

I feel a bit sick - like a little child who has had their pocket money cut off! BUT I realise that I am am wasting time paying minimum payments and then spending £650 on luxuries whilst posting on here!

Feeling embarrased as you lot all work so hard at debt busting and Im a fraud.. but I'm going to do it now once and for all.. I shall be here next year... but with saving targets NOT and I really mean NOT in debt still

Sorry to be childish but I need a group hug, this was a really hard thing for me to own up to and commit to :-(

    DDx

Omg I am so impressed and empowered by you ... Well done :T

This is so good and the feeling your feeling will be of excitement and triumph once you have paid this off :j :j

    ((((((((((((( hugs )))))))))))))

An enormous Well Done from me :)

I'm still managing to keep up with reading everyone's posts using my mobile at lunchtime whilst at work.:)

Well done everyone - looking very good.
Thanks to those of you who keep this updated - much appreciated.:A

I forgot that I was due £100 back this month from my mobile phone contract even though I'd put it on my financial spread sheet, so I've paid another instalment off my credit card which is currently 0% but changes to 18% in April. I still need to pay £2,090 by 5 April so using everything I can to pay off in time. If I don't make it I have a 0% credit card which will probably give me an offer, but trying to avoid doing that.

A NSD for me again today and I took breakfasts, lunches and all drinks to work all last week, so only spending on essentials.
