wow haven't we all been busy.

I still haven't set my target as still waiting for credit card statement but I have been super fab and not spent a penny apart from food and wool (I knit as a business) so im hoping things will look good when the time comes.

I have also transferred £1,700 of my debt onto a 0% card so that will relieve some of the interest pressure. feeling really positive this year so far x

And once we have January out of the way I think we'll all start to feel like a bit of headway is being made :)
    :j

Soooo true!! Just not making the debt increase in January is a struggle so paying anything at all off or maintaining is still a great achievement!
I'm getting really depressed thinking of all the things I need to put money aside for right now. I think I need about £15k to cover everything, which will take a few years even if I'm very frugal! This is when I get really depressed when others seem to be able to pull together the money in 5 minutes flat :(

Yep same! I need to start learning to drive - I work daft shifts and now live somewhere with rubbish bus service so need to sort it out sooner rather than later but then I just think how on earth would I actually afford to buy a car? Or insure it, tax it, fill it with petrol on a regular basis?! And that's before thinking about anything around the house that needs sorting out - Am hoping that we can leave most things alone this year and make a big go at them in 2015 - but then the switch for the shower broke yesterday (easily fixed by FIL for £8.98 and 2 cups of coffee!) but I then thought what will I do if something bigger than that breaks?!?

Best not to think of it and cross my fingers like mad or I just get swamped with it and nothing gets done! :rotfl:

don't get me started on things i need to save for. :( it really is depressing. OH and I agreed we would have a holiday this year as we have had a really crap couple of yrs with nothing nice for ourselves bar new pans and clothes in the sales! haha.

we need a min of 12k for the house deposit. maybe even more ,so we're looking at 2016...

I considered part-worn, but won't go there now! An ex-police officer warned us about a scene he visited once where the part-worn tyres caused the accident, and I think the guy was left disabled for the sake of saving £20. The tyres are the only thing holding you onto the road, and he said it's worth spending as much as you can afford on a split new pair. Good luck for the MOT!

ruby don't even mention big things breaking - I don't want to jinx it! I'm trying to build up a safety net, but until then, I have an un-touched credit card waiting just in case I don't have the money together.

1DayAAT I don't own a mini... I'd probably be better off if I did! I do like the old retro ones though.

Can I please join? I have unfortunately let my spending addiction run away with me in 2013 and have racked up £10000 in debt. I would like to pay off £5000 by Xmas 2014. Thanks

A few things have sold on ebay today so my new total will be tomorrow when I can call to pay more off of my loan. Updating now as I won't be able to get on tomorrow after making the payment.

    #12 - £664.38 / £10,000 = 6.64%

I have a few things ending later today too, so I might have another update.

Sorry about the numbers mix up minicooper and moneysavingtrainee :o

I'm itching to make some payments but life seems to be getting in the way, eating up my little e3ay earnings. Some great payments going on though - i'm excited to see our January total!

Re: old cars - i had a 16 year old car last year. I kept waiting for it to die so i could justify buying a newer one, but no, it kept passing it's mot! In the end i sold it for £200 and apparently it's still going sting now! My dad says older cars are easier to fix as you hit them with a hammer rather than plugging them into a computer :rotfl:

I'm also nervous about a lack of savings - i plan to start saving in June, fingers crossed nothing happens until then!

  • Hello and welcome Dakota86

I've gone through the accounts this afternoon and have found another £150 to throw at the Capital One card - I'm getting rather obsessed over saying 'goodbye' to this card and its 31.1% interest! No more money available now until the 21st, so I'm thinking about looking around for stuff to Ebay instead. I haven't sold on Ebay for over three years and I'm a bit nervous about starting up again. I'm in the middle of a big declutter at the moment, so I should be able to find something to sell in amongst all the junk!

    #66 £450 / 12500 Thanks :)
