Went to wedding yesterday and took £150 with us knowing drinks would be expensive, and big family rounds and we would need to spend about £30 on a taxi home! We hoped to not spend all that and any that we bought home would be a bonus!
Anyway, it was a free bar all day and night and my young cousin gave us a lift home. We bunged him a tenner for going out of his way! So the whole day and night cost YS a tenner! Result! More money to throw at the loan at the end of the month. Hoping husband will transfer the money soon so I can update!Grocery challenge-

Well done Frizzle that's a great result - and even better to have had the money ready to go before needing it!
So this month my debt has gone up a bit, I will revisit where I am properly in a couple of weeks but I need to improve my budgeting. The good news is that after being made redundant I am starting a new job on a higher salary straight away so I hope to be able to repay a chunk of this amount back next month which will help me get back on track for Christmas time.
Well done to everyone for chipping away at debts and keep up the good work!!!0 -
OK so my budgeting and spending has went t**s up this while back. SO....... today I have sat down and made a list of things that I need to pay each month and sat a budget aside to spend if needed/wanted.
I am left with £200 a month to live on. And I'm determined NOT to spend it.
I have never saved money for anything in my life. It's time I start taking it seriously.
Until 1st January this year when i joined in some threads on here and I have realised how - not easy.... but less stressful - to save. And I thank the people who set these threads on this forum up and it's members. You are so encouraging and friendly, SO I thank you for helping me do this.
So I have now made a list and plan to stick to it.
After rent, credit card will have a set amount of money paid off each month and hopefully will be paid off before Christmas, the loan from the Credit Union is not due to be paid back for another 2 years but I have set a goal to have it paid off by next May.
I will be continuing my 2 pots of £1 a day savings, and one will be for Christmas presents. The other will go into my savings account at the Credit Union. I am continuing my Tesco stamps each week x4 and will start putting £1 a week away starting from yesterday for my meat at Christmas.
As I am off work for the entire summer I will be going through all of my clothes, if any need mended they will be mended instead of thrown away and something new bought.
I will be putting this list onto a tick chart and tick off each target when it is done. OH has said he is going to start doing similar targets to myself.
I may not have all of my debt paid off by Christmas, but hopefully I will have a good bit paid off - the target will be half of it - and I will also have some savings put aside also
Christmas lists for children are near enough completed thanks to sales in Argos etc. Some extra things have been added on to the Santa lists and some things taken off, but I have already sold some of the unwanted toys thanks to Ebay and Facebook, some even sold for more than what I paidSo that money will just be put into an envelope with child's name on it to cover what they want.
I just want to say a bIg thank you again to everyone on this thread, and the whole Debt-Free forums for keeping me focused, and determined.
I think I need to find a similar one on here for weight-loss:rotfl::oPay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -

IrishRose, it sounds like you are heading in the right direction and doing really well, well done.
I haven't made any extra payments since last week. As I mentioned we've decided to go on a special holiday so spare money is now heading towards our WDW trip next year (all being well). I will keep chipping away on the card and paying over the minimum payment each month.Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!:starmod: Emergency Fund Savings - #148 - £10/£1000 1% :starmod::xmastree:#083 SPC6 £63 - SPC7 £90 - SPC8 £63 - SPC9 £54 - SPC10 £26 - SPC12 £70 :xmastree:0 -
Feel like utter poop and we go on holiday this week! Ohs tooth is still giving him grief so he's having it pulled out today, more expense but necessary expense ... When we come back we need to out cash aside for the car tax. Hopefully we will hear about OHs job interview result this week too0

Knew my luck would run out.
Saturday morning went in the lounge and saw my PS3 was on and whirring away, checked the output on the TV and nothing on screen. Restarted it but to no avail. 1 dead PS3
Now gotta try and find funds for a new/replacement one.0 -
Credit card bill came in this morning. I swear I only paid the last one not too long ago:(
Anyhow just paid another chunk off it. And I forgot to update on my CU loan also paid last week.
So I now stand at:

I sent my OH to view a flat tonight, and it was apparently fairly good, so we've decided to take it :T. It's around £100 a month less than we were budgeting for, walking distance to the city centre (1.2 miles), half a mile to the subway, overlooks a park, and has (my biggest request) a separate kitchen.
The landlord had a bad experience with the last tenants, who stole a load of furniture when they went, so when I'm up on Saturday we have to meet with him so he can vet us both and decide whether we're trustworthy. I am trustworthy, honest :A
At the very least I'll be £50 saving on deposit and £50 saving on rent next month, which is going to be really important...0 -
