I've taken quotes for my car insurance from a comparison site, and I've decided which one I want to go with. Good news is that I can also get cashback on them. Unfortunately when I go through the cashback site, it forces me to get another comparison quote, and the same insurer suddenly comes in £50 dearer, which completely negates the cost of the cashback. No option to bypass their comparison site either...

We have had a kitchen extension built plus some walls knocked down and although this money was accounted for as usual we were left with some unexpected bills and we have had to put them onto another credit card. I've been feeling quite downbeat about this and can't really see when this debt will ever end.

But i'm glad we did it because the extra space in the house is amazing and of course the value of the house has gone up. We still need to decorate so i know that will be more money but once the house is finished it will be done for a good few years.

I really need to get refocused because we will be definitely having a holiday next year, both credit cards are on 0% deals and when we give our totals in january i'm going to be honest with myself and put the full debt total on here and not just 1 bill that i want to clear.

I've still been using quidco for cashback and i'm going to restart doing the payment a week challenge.

Well done to everyone who is still making payments or have become debtfree recently.

I know I am extremely late but can I join in too? I owe as of today around 5k and plan to pay it off by the end of the year. I have read most of the thread and everyone is so supportive! Nice to meet you all :)

Hi LadyMA - of course you can join! You will be #209 - do you want me to set your target as £5000 on the nose?

So I was going to pay for my car insurance with my credit card and transfer the money from savings at the weekend, but credit card payments came with a £6 fee, so I just took the money out of my savings then and there. My OH wondered why I was bothering - '£6 isn't that bad, just pay it, it's easier'! Someone got a quick lesson on 'why pay for it if you don't have too?' but he's going to get a bit of a shake up when we move in together next month! :rotfl: *gives evil laugh*

Anyway, now car insurance has been paid for, I have £150 left to cover my MOT. I really hope the car is OK!

Just had my pay day and have paid £5 off the card and put some money in the ISA for our holiday next year. I know I really wanted to clear our card this year, but having decided to go on a special end of primary school holiday to Disney with DD, saving for that will be my new focus.

I will still keep chipping away at the card but by focusing on saving for our holiday next year we should avoid creating more debt. Will definitely get past 50% this year and will be joining the 2015 gang to get it all cleared for next Christmas! :rudolf:

Payday - so after jigging the finances for the month and taking into account projected ebay sales (based on the bids so far) I have made another overpayment so my balance is now :
