I know this isn't the place to ask but is there anywhere that explains in leymans terms about mortgages etc. I barely know the basics and have no idea really. Keep going on bank websites and hearing all this gobbledegook.
Fed up of paying £1100 rent + bills and we want to move somewhere nicer. Can afford to pay the mortgage it's just zero deposit at moment and renting elsewhere won't make us any better off.
edit: I found Barclays website a little useful for some of the terms. haha 35 years old and still haven't got a clue about mortgages.0 -
Another £6.92 paid off by rounding account to nearest zero.
All small steps at the minute, but I'm optimistic that I can get the debts down this year. . . .

Good luck with the job search Rachie! Hope you get something soon

Argomatt I agree with Starnac - aim high, and you will probably get higher than you would if you didn't set the target.
Mat I don't get mortgages either, but I do remember seeing this not long ago - it might help you:

I realised I forgot to make my usual monthly transfer. Not transferring just as much as I usually would, it's just a bit of a tight month with 2 long weekends away, 3 family birthdays (hence the 2 long weekends) and Mothers Day. I'm now on:

I have also paid car tax, and will be booking my car in for a service soon if possible.0 -
A quick update from me...

Good morning! I have been m.i.a almost since this began, life and other things happened and I seemed to be bouncing from one crisis to the next.
OH and I went away on holiday and it's given me a chance to relax and assess exactly what I need to do.
My original target was just my credit cards, and didn't include my overdraft which, ironically, is the most expensive of my debts. I'm lucky that I'm still a good credit score and haven't found getting long 0% balance transfer cards a problem. I'd therefore like to revise my total to the number below, admins please could you update the front page?
Have paid a chunk off the overdraft and went in to the bank to reduce the overdraft accordingly; every staff member I spoke to was taken aback when I said I wanted to decrease, not increase my overdraft :rotfl:
My new total, including overdraft at it's highest and new power overdraft #85 499.54/91390 -
Made another payment as one credit card was so close to a round figure, so my new total is
513.66/91390 -
