Nanamia There is a quote for everything.

Pigpen My Nan use to ask me questions when I felt like you, so I am going to ask you the same ones. Please post your answers :)

    1) if the ironing isn't done today, whose going to die ? .. well I've ironed 1 item in the last 5 years.. OH's shirt for his sisters wedding 3 years ago last September.
    2) if the lounge isn't dusted today, whose going to die ? I don't dust.. I vacuum the worst and wipe with a damp cloth.. last done properly.. 4, maybe 4.5 years ago.
    3) if the beds aren't made or changed today, whose going to die ? I have vomit on my pillow.. what would you do?
    4) if the floors aren't hoovered and mopped today, whose going to die ? all of us!!! Seriously, it is a death trap! There are toys EVERYWHERE and dirty laundry.. it is really really bad!!

    And finally, repeat after me

My kids aren't making a mess, they are making memories :D

No.. they are making a mess.. Dot is in a box of toys going 'fling fling fling' and throwing stuff over her shoulder!!

  • Got some half price gifts in B@@ts the other night. DD has lots of friends so always handy for BDays. Went to Wilcos but nothing decent left.:(

Pigpen can you say to DD who is flinging the toys that if she doesn't stop throwing her toys and tidy up , you will take away said toys (hide them somewhere).
As someone else said delegate jobs and threaten that if they are not done, no-one gets fed. lol Seems to work in our house. :rotfl:
Hope I don't sound patronising as not meant to be as I know how when things are written down they can be taken out of context. ;)
If you feel that you are struggling then tell them. Totally agree life is too short for housework (don't hoover or dust either, OH and kids do that) I wash, iron, cook and clean bathrooms. I blow a gasket every now and again and that seems to work too.
HTH my lovely, don't let it get you down. Sending love and hugs xxx

Just an observation but do you have to spend so much time knitting etc, I know myself I have quite often "lost" an hour cross stitching cards when I should really be giving my time to something more structural. Now I only do the stitching in the evenings when "most" of the daily routine is done. It took me a good while to get into a routine though and I know it can be demanding with little ones. Personally I think OMO ideas are spot on :D

Have you tried making tidying up a game ?

When FM finally got out of the Lego box he threw quite a bit of it on the floor. I picked a piece up threw it back in the box then clapped.
He then copied me and threw bits back so we would clap at him. I think he got about 90% of what he threw out back in himself. :)

They trash while I am feeding the baby usually.. and I only usually do knitting after they are in bed or while having a lunch break.. otherwise Dot wipes her sticky hands and snotty nose on my work. I can only manage about 15-20 minute stints between my hips, 3 school runs and these 3 there isn't much time to do anything.. sometimes it will get to 10pm and I'll realise I've not eaten all day.. saves money but I still weigh more than a newborn elephant somehow! They go to bed at 7 and I am usually collapsed in the chair after that.. let's just say OH isn't very assertive so I do all the growling and boss him occasionally. The older ones are out until gone 4 and I'm doing dinner then getting the littlies to bed .. not much time for anything. Goodness knows when I am meant to fit in taking my 13 y/o for new shoes.

Thanks to everyone that chats about their daily lives. I don't have much to chat about myself as my life is fairly boring i.e. go to work & then come home with a shopping trip at weekends.

Don't know if anyone has spotted this magic set

Might be an ideal pressie for someone!

I've never really liked Christmas since I stopped receiving a stocking from "Father Christmas"/My mum. This was around 25 years ago when I got married! I loved waking in the early morning on Christmas Day, opening a present or two, and going back to sleep! For a couple of years more recently, I had a friend who gave me present, that I was able to save to open on Christmas Morning, but that has now stopped. I have a present from my parents at lunchtime on Christmas Day, but to me, that's not the same. My two son's are severely autistic and don't really understand presents.

I noticed this year, that I was unable to remember what I had wrapped for other people, even when wrapped just a few days before Christmas!
So, I am making myself a Christmas Stocking for Christmas 2014! I don't usually buy myself pretty things, just basic stuff. So in the sales I'm looking out for a pretty handwash, and little odds and ends. and will keep the stocking with the Christmas Decorations so I can find it in December. Lakeland wrapped a small item in masses of tissue paper, which was handy!

Hello and welcome to the thread :D

It can be hard when you are the only adult at home Christmas morning . ( although in my case I would have loved it )

I used to buy myself Christmas presents through the year. I would wrap them as I bought them so by December I had forgot what they were.
Like you it was just little things. A nice bubble bath, moisturiser, some fluffy socks. But it was nice to open them on day. xx

And this is why for my birthday (21st Jan) I always ask for the money instead :rotfl:
