Hi all
Hugs to those who need them, kicks up the bum for those who need them as well (we've all put off the ironing!!)
I've had a lovely chest infection for the best part of a month, and it decided to rear its ugly head again yesterday. Dizzy on standing, its like being drunk without the alcohol!
An old school friend got in touch today, haven't spoken to her in 12 years, it was so nice to hear from her.
Not much to report on the christmas buying, as I haven't been out of the house since Christmas Day!0 -
Given we all know you don't give to receive, I think we should have two lists to match up: people who always shop for others but for whatever reason or circumstance, don't get thoughtful presents themselves, and people (like me) who are incredibly lucky and get great presents given to me, but always feel like I'd like a few more people to shop for - not having much in the way of family always means I see things that would be great but have no-one to give them to! Not sure how we'd get round the problem we faced last year about addresses etc but I would be thrilled to do a little stocking or gift-buying for one of you lovelies!
Thanks everyone for words of support, had a much better week after my teary tantrum. Let's just say today's *that* day of the month where I look back and suddenly everything I've felt and done in the last week makes sense! :rotfl:
Think I've pretty much confirmed who my new (big) boss will be and while I'm not especially sure she's my kind of person (she's Lady such and such and once told us it was a nightmare finding somewhere to get her £60k curtains cleaned. That isn't a typo!) I have to try and be positive about it for my team and my own sanity!
Have my presents sorted for the first Celebrate 2014 occasions - for Burns night a Tunnocks Teacake Tea Towel on sale at a local art gallery (not often I spy thing cheaper than online!) and for Chinese New Year, I'm breaking the budget and getting OH a horse riding lesson (Year of the Horse). OH does all the dishes in this house so tea towels are very much his domain and he loves teacakes! The horse riding is only an hour and so not too expensive, plus it's a local rescue centre so feels like money well spent. He's mentioned it a few times (having never done it before) and he really loves animals so think he'll enjoy it. This was all about us doing new things so hope he'll appreciate it!
Feisty, hope all OK, and that your silence is simply because you and OH are having a wonderfully calm and self-indulgent start to the year!
JuniorJ, thanks for the details, made me swoon! I'm so very pleased for you, he sounds wonderful and you deserve nothing less than that! I know you'll keep him on his toes. And on that note, please do try and stay on yours love! Hope you're feeling better and the black eye fades quickly.
Pigpen, I'd write a list of what needs doing. Even if you don't then do anything from the list, I promise you, just having the list will make you feel more in control! Sometimes, when totally overwhelmed, I make lists of lists I need to write :rotfl:
Want to say thank you to all the regular posters (you know who you are!) by popping in all the time and caring as much as you do, you keep this thread going. Really pleased to see so many de-lurkers - hello all :hello:0 -
Just bought FM another pet pillow. It was in my Amazon wish list and had gone done to £9.45 ( £12.80 with postage)
It is the Spurs cockerel and is £25 on their club site
http://shop.tottenhamhotspur.com/product/chirpy-pillowpet/52157
He is now finished for Christmas and his next birthday.( bar the stocking )
note to self --NO MORE PET PILLOWS, NO MORE PET PILLOWS, NO MORE..... ( unless they are such a bargain you can't say NO :rotfl:)0 -
Caitlyn22 - Your OH will probably really enjoy the horse riding. He will be sore when he comes off though - and in places that he never imagined he would be :rotfl:A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Hi all, crazy couple of days, new bedroom furniture for ds, wardrobe and drawers are lovely and were easy to put together, new cotbed on the other hand was badly damaged and awful quality, which wasn't great to find out after we had dismantled and sold his old one. So very unhappy little boy sleeping in his travel cot, managed to get a different one next day delivery so I had fun putting it together by myself this morning.
Have managed to get a few bargain DVDs from tesco today as posted on grab it, they had loads in our store, also a fireman Sam onesie for ds christmas present and thomas pjs for now all reduced :-) and also sorted my sis birthday present from Facebook, just need a frame for it.
I do love shopping for other people :-)
Hope everyone is having a good weekend x
I take it you didn't have any better luck than I did with the £1 cotbed and drawers saga from Littlewoods then? I was being very MSE and planning ahead, I bought them thinking I'd store them in the attic for when we want a baby in 3-4 years lol! Ah well, worth a try eh? You've got to be in it to win it with glitches0 -

I did give it a try with isme but it was cancelled. I didn't even get told they were cancelling it though. I ended up getting this

It doesn't look much in the pic but its really good quality and they do it in white too, the drawer is great as we really need storage space.0 -

That looks really nice, and just what you need with express delivery too! Pity it cost a teensy bit more than the other one, but definitely a good choice
I don't think DH would let me buy one in advance if it wasn't a mega deal though, he might suspect I'm getting broody! :rotfl:0
