Just watching a Jamie Oliver show on Food Network and he's got a recipe for Epic Hot Chocolate - My reckoning is that you could put this in a jar and give it to people as a present as it is just dry ingredients you add to milk:
(this is also acting as a reminder for me to make it when I get paid next week!)
4 heaped tbsp good quality cocoa powder (Jamie used Green & Blacks)
3 heaped tbsp icing sugar
2 heaped tbsp of malted drink such as Horlicks
2 heaped tbsp cornflour
100g grated chocolate.
make with 4 heaped tbsps in 2 pts warm milk.
The end result looked like melted chocolate - yummy!
I will get some lovely jars and make it for sisters - Tesco sell the biggest marshmallows I've ever seen so I will probably add 2 or 3 to it along with a bar of chocolate or something
We made it last year and it was fantastic.0 -
Irish Rose, Thanks for the info on Post Pals. I've just asked to be an elf this year so fingers crossed I haven't left it too late. Depending on which child I'm linked to I may well be back on here asking for ideas for what to buy!!!It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0

Oh that's GREAT news!! I'm delighted to hear that:j I've got 2 pals this year
Let me know who you get and I'll be more than happy to help out. The Elf project is easy enough though as you have more freedom what to buy. Unlike the rest of the year where they do monthly projects and they are based on a certain topic. They can be tricky at times:rotfl:Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -

RUTHHONEY thankyou, btw i loved your halloween sausages they were fab, omg i am loving The Christmas Party have you started it yet?
CAV love your christmas jumper theme party idea that will be so much fun
FLUFFYSOX thankyou x
I love Hot Toddy too. So warming and cozy to have a bath with the bubble bar. Was rationing mine for extra long baths so I could enjoy them for as long as poss.
The Halloween sausages were from Aldi. Got some Halloween pasta in lidl too, so had some of that today. I'm a sucker for stuff like that!
I've started The Christmas Party, but only got up to chapter 4 so far. Giggled at the Home Bargains reference.
The Christmas jumper party sounds fun. Don't have the heating up too high though or people will melt!
Hope bunny is back home again soon. Vets bills can be so expensive, so insurance is a must in this house.
Thanks for the Christmas film suggestions. Set all I could to record and will get the DVDs out and start watching those too. Did watch Home Alone 2 last month. Hubby didn't even mind that I put it on in October!starlet1990 wrote: »Thank you for the list of books ruthhoney and the post pal link looks fabulous although forgot who mentioned it. Thank you and sorry for the long post. X
London-A little early for Christmas markets. The department stores will have Christmas sections. Harrods, Selfridges, Fortnum and Mason etc. Oxford st lights are turned on at 6:15pm on Thursday Nov 6th.
There's been some decent films on true Christmas and Christmas 24. A lot of not so good ones too! I really should make notes of the good ones as we keep looking at the listings and saying "have we seen that one?" Because they do blur into one sometimes...:rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Winter Wonderland and Southbank Christmas market is later in Nov-maybe around the third week?
The poppies are AMAZING. We saw them on Thursday and it was packed there. Didn't know it was the big launch and one of the royals there that evening, but we got to see one side of it. Hubby is going to go back in his lunch break to take some photos in the daylight as my pics weren't great. It's there until the 11th, I believe.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

As Mr Christmas left for work this morning he asked what my plans for the day were. I suppose you'll be "Putting up the Christmas decorations now Halloween is over?!" :rotfl:
Nopebut I am going to make a start on sorting the house out room by room now our little elves are back to school & planning where the decorations are going & what else is needed for the display.
My plans for the dinning room are my new Bethlehem lights wreath on the mirror & it's matching garland running underneath on the radiator cover (both are in clear lights) I'd really like a pair of matching small trees in pots either side of the cover with clear lights too but we'll see. On the table opposite I'm going to sit a Yankee Christmas jar in a wreath as the centre piece. Haven't decided if I'm going to add my own decorations to these yet?
Quidsy that mincemeat sounds delicious. It's something I'd like to have a go at making myself but I have a few jars of 10p sale mincemeat to use up from last year, this year if you see what I mean!
Am desperate to get up into my loft too but we need to buy a ladder as the room the hatch is in was decorated a few months ago & I'm not having peoples foot/hand prints on the wall as they haul/scramble themselves up/through!
Last week I went on a football trip with one of my little elves & was able to finish Twelve Days of Christmas on the coach so if anybody would like me to send it to them, just drop me a PM.
Simo429 Hope your bunny is feeling better & able to come home today.
Was hoping someone maybe able to help me, I have a dilemma with eldest DDs stocking. She has decided she doesn't like chocolate oranges but I'd already brought them... ages ago when they were £1 in Tesc0s offer to go at the bottom of everyone's.
As DDs stockings are almost identical I need an alternative & was hoping for something similar, chocolate & ball like... she does like mint chocolate if that's any help! So if anyone's seen any mint chocolate shaped balls/oranges (mint Matchstick boxes are too big) or have any ideas & could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Many thanks0
