Something posted earlier on this thread gave me an idea. My best friend gets very down in January. I think it's partly SAD and the post Christmas blues and I hate that she feels so down-especially as I live too far away to give her a cuddle.
So I thought I'd send her a message telling her to email me or text me every day, telling me the best thing that happened to her that day. I hope this will help her focus on the good things and cheer her up.

Right, I'd better get ready for my water aerobics class. Determined to have a swim afterwards too. Must get back into the routine and start losing the pounds that I'm certain got piled on over Christmas. Have a great day everyone!
I think January blues are commonplace. You have reminded me I had the idea a few months ago to plan some nice things for Jan to make it more cheery.
1: A catch up with girlfriends- hard to organise these days but I am putting my foot down lol.
2: Got voucher for local beauty salon for my birthday (end of Nov) for facial, manicure, pedicure and massage. Will have to book that.
3: Didn't get a day to go Christmas shopping and I have loads of gift cards particularly for M&S so would really like to escape to Chester for the day.

I went to Aquafit 2/3 mornings a week after having my first baby. Really helped me recover after the c-section. I loved the group of ladies too, really lovely bunch. Hoping to go again soon :-)

Well that's Christmas 2013 all packed away.

nitnurse-not - we tried Prosecco for the first time over the hols and must admit I much preferred it to the champers we had yesterday. The Prosecco we had was a Sainbugs Taste the Diff one - just realised we have another 3 bottles of it in the garage. ;)

We had Sains' Taste the Diff Prosecco on New Years too and preferred it to Champagne we had.

Freespirit you are certainly not boring us sharing your challenges. Well done you for completing them especially the sudoku puzzle- I cannot do those for love nor money. Your son must love his mum very much ;-)

I can't really afford the classes, but I'm going to join and try and save elsewhere. I've tried going it alone in the past as I can so it in my sleep, but I'm not motivated enough. I did the best when I had the classes and targets etc. so ill give up something else a week and save the £4.95 for classes. Goodluck xx

Me neither but like you the money will come from elsewhere, hopefully from that tube of Pringles or bottle of wine I didn't buy on the way home from work :o
I'm actually feeling quite shy about the whole thing of going to a group & weighing in, talking myself out of it when I think about it.
I will go though! Apparently Woman's mag has a voucher for free joining fee or something? I'll have a look tomorrow. All the very best of luck to you too xx
BBTHREE... Sorry to hear about your day. Hope tomorrow all works itself out. You usually find these things do. This thread is a great place to relax & unwind. I often find myself checking in to see what everyone's up to before I've even popped the kettle on!

Stretching Christmas out a bit decs n all down but eating roses watching mary poppims and cutting old cards into gift tags :) we r off to c my grandparents 2moro for another roast! !! And pressie exchange xcited[/QUOTE

All our cards taken down today. DS started it as yesterday he discovered blu-tack and so this morning decided to scavenge some from the backs of our Christmas cards. Using it to stick toy cars together in various formations.:p
We had some really lovely cards this year, but using them to make gift tags makes it easier to put the remains in the recycling. Recycle bin was emptied today thank goodness- full to the brim.
Tree down this weekend then Christmas is over. Although my mum brought a bag of gifts round earlier from various family we haven't seen. DS1 has opened his whilst at Nanny's house but there are a few for me, DH and our baby. Will have to open them tomorrow.:T

BBTHREE: Hope you have a relaxing weekend after a hard week. Sometimes with work I just keep telling myself, "just survive this week and next week will be easier"

I remember a 2 week shut down when I was younger too. The sales started on January 1st and the only shops open on Boxing Day were corner shops. Mind you, Christmas morning (if it wasn't raining) the streets and parks were busy with children on new bikes, roller skates and pushing toy prams (not cooped up indoors on electronic gadgets).
    Those were the days... :D

freespirit how did it go? I'm no where near finished but progress has been made I've got some tops and other clothes for the charity shop and some shoes too, I've sorted out underwear to go to the bin too even socks which is a big deal for me lol. Swept a little too, tomorrow's aim is to get the Hoover up here too so that I can get some sneaky cobwebs!!!!

AMEYTURTLE erm :o most of it but not all of it, i was just so slow today, well done you :)
I went out and DH wanted to come with! He is usually very unsociable and this years Ill health has made him a million times worse. We were having a grand time until about 12.45am when dh started being sick. Then he was being unresponsive and lolling about and still being sick. I automatically thought he had had too much to drink and was fuming. I was also very embarrassed as we were at someone else's house. Anyway with a lot of help from friends I got him home and managed about 2 hours of interrupted sleep. Dh spent the whole day in bed and had the shakes, sweats and was still being sick. I then found out that one of the flat mates also started being sick a few hours before dh and that the hospital she works at had a sickness bug. I was really annoyed as by the time dh was being sick a few other guests had gone down with it too, but no one said anything. Plus I had a row with one of the guests as they were a doctor in training and scolded me for letting him drink with his health issues - like I have a strong say!
Sorry for the graphic rant lol he is slowly improving :)
Free spirit I loved reading about your challenge, huge well done!

OMG FEISTY that sounds awful, it went around that quick?? i expect DHs immune system is so low with everything else happening, crikey i bet you wish you hadnt have bothered going now!!! I hope you dont catch it as well and DH recovers quickly sending you hugs x

I've just joined the SW thread. I plan to join a class when it starts back next week. I've done SW before and did well. I feel so disgusted with myself recently, I can't face another year of feeling down on myself. We are going to Spain in July, so don't want to be too embarrassed to get a cossie on.

Good luck NIC with SW, i also love filling out new diaries, i still havent bought my 2014 organiser refill and feel at odds with not having it!

I had originally typed that today has been one of the worst days I have ever had in work. It was month end and year end and everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. Done a 13 hour day, and now gonna do some work remotely once this posted, and then back in office again at 6.30am. .
I was trying to cling to positives that I didn't cry, shout, scream or crumble like a biscuit and have done one of my new year aims to tackle things head on. I also had 4 glasses of water today (a small thing but after today I will cling to any positives).
But... then I came home stressed and pi**ed off, but after catching up with on the posts on here, and I am smiling and calmer and happy. You are all such a jolly and friendly bunch. (And miracle workers to put a smile on my face after today). I have nothing to whinge about at all, and hugs to people that actually do need them and have big things going on (unlike me and my temporary grump) :o xx

BBTHREE well done you for not folding and tackling it head on :) its so easy to break down when you get in such a state, hope tomorrow is a better day for you x

    Thankyou so much fluffysox x

I have completed todays challenges, for those of you who are interested i will type what i have on my sheet, it might help someone i hope x

Setting yourself goals and challenges allows you to challenge and push yourself. It helps to bring out passion, excitement and enthusiasm. If you have a difficult goal that stands before you, you can tap into resources you never knew you had, and become more creative and resourceful as a result. They can push you beyond the thresholds of mediocrity, allowing you to develop talents and abilities that can help you become the person you want to be.

    1. Complete the daily sudoku challenge
    2. Complete the Big Brain Academy Test (on my nintendo DS)
    3. Write down 8 Personal Positive Qualities
    4. Sketch a Member of the family

(todays present to open was a sketch book and sketching pencils)
