It has just taken almost an hour to catch up lol

I went out and DH wanted to come with! He is usually very unsociable and this years Ill health has made him a million times worse. We were having a grand time until about 12.45am when dh started being sick. Then he was being unresponsive and lolling about and still being sick. I automatically thought he had had too much to drink and was fuming. I was also very embarrassed as we were at someone else's house. Anyway with a lot of help from friends I got him home and managed about 2 hours of interrupted sleep. Dh spent the whole day in bed and had the shakes, sweats and was still being sick. I then found out that one of the flat mates also started being sick a few hours before dh and that the hospital she works at had a sickness bug. I was really annoyed as by the time dh was being sick a few other guests had gone down with it too, but no one said anything. Plus I had a row with one of the guests as they were a doctor in training and scolded me for letting him drink with his health issues - like I have a strong say!

Sorry for the graphic rant lol he is slowly improving :)

Free spirit I loved reading about your challenge, huge well done!

His missus, so sorry to hear that your dad has taken a turn for the worse. Thinking of you and your family xxx

Big new year hugs to you all! X

I remember a 2 week shut down when I was younger too. The sales started on January 1st and the only shops open on Boxing Day were corner shops. Mind you, Christmas morning (if it wasn't raining) the streets and parks were busy with children on new bikes, roller skates and pushing toy prams (not cooped up indoors on electronic gadgets). Those were the days... :D

Same here.........either we're getting older or (sings) fings aint what they used to be....:D
Think next year I will suggest a joint gift each for my mum and dad, bf's mum and dad and bf's middle brother and his missus. Something like a date in a box so maybe film vouchers (to buy a dvd/similar of their choice) plus some popcorn, sweet treats and drinks etc. That may turn in to a bit of a 'family' gift for brother+his. I might do it alongside regular gifts (as it would only need a £10 gift card plus some bargain treats!

Liking this idea - consider it stolen!

Back to work tomorrow but decluttered my room a bit this afternoon so was a very productive day off! :)

I live north of the border (in Scotland) & 2nd January is also a holiday.

Couldn't do much else though as no buses running (I don't drive) & the nearest big town is 5 miles away. Will probably go on Saturday & grab a few bits!

    Bye for now

Hello, just caught up, lovely to see so many new faces. Please keep posting x

I went to Tesco and bought a huge tub to put all my decs away. They are usually in 2 or 3 small boxes and I was gutted when I couldn't find one this year. So ill be taking them all down tomorrow. I have a lit cone that's about 2ft tall that I'm considering leaving near the front door window for the year. It's not specifically Christmassy. And I don't want to put it away and I get damaged.

I've just joined the SW thread. I plan to join a class when it starts back next week. I've done SW before and did well. I feel so disgusted with myself recently, I can't face another year of feeling down on myself. We are going to Spain in July, so don't want to be too embarrassed to get a cossie on.

I also bought a lovely diary today. I just love a blank diary and sitting and filling out all the birthdays and ideas. I have a thing for journals and all stationary full stop lol

My 2 hobbies this year will be Christmas & SW. I'm trying to see it more as a hobbie than a diet, hoping that this will help me stick to it more.
Christmas wise I picked up a maze ball reduced from £12.99 to under a fiver in Argos yesterday. Have popped it away for eldest dd. Have also received a text to say that my Boots parcel is ready for collection. I am finding having a Christmas app on my phone quite exciting, being able to see how much I'm spending/saving, who's it for, just enjoying being more organised really.
Although I have returned to work, nobody else has so I ll be happy Monday when they've all gone back to work & school again & I can put the house back together & have a good sort out!

    Hi All

House has still not been de-christmased.

Yesterday we went to the cinema and saw The Harry Hill movie. It was absolutely dire, but my kids liked it. We then went to Chiquitos for a last pig out whilst hubby was still off work and we all felt so fat and bloated afterwards, it was literally showers and bed all round and nothing got done in the house. Will take decs down on Saturday.

I had originally typed that today has been one of the worst days I have ever had in work. It was month end and year end and everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. Done a 13 hour day, and now gonna do some work remotely once this posted, and then back in office again at 6.30am. .

I was trying to cling to positives that I didn't cry, shout, scream or crumble like a biscuit and have done one of my new year aims to tackle things head on. I also had 4 glasses of water today (a small thing but after today I will cling to any positives).

But... then I came home stressed and pi**ed off, but after catching up with on the posts on here, and I am smiling and calmer and happy. You are all such a jolly and friendly bunch. (And miracle workers to put a smile on my face after today). I have nothing to whinge about at all, and hugs to people that actually do need them and have big things going on (unlike me and my temporary grump) :o xx

I can't really afford the classes, but I'm going to join and try and save elsewhere. I've tried going it alone in the past as I can so it in my sleep, but I'm not motivated enough. I did the best when I had the classes and targets etc. so ill give up something else a week and save the £4.95 for classes. Goodluck xx

Hanley25 - Sounds like you have made a good start of the gifts. Sorry you are down with tonsillitis :(

DomRavioli - Hope you start feeling better. Thanks for mentioning the Tetris light, I have been stalking it in Selfridges (£35 - not a chance!), hoping it will come down more in the sale. Will order from IWOOT now.

Betasam - Jcloths and a spoon

Junior_J - You are always so positive, despite whatever is going on and a real inspiration. Good luck with everything xx

fluffysox - DD suggested we get a Dominos tonight as I got home so late. I have just politely declined after reading your post

Ploddingalong - Hello and welcome. My kids are similar ages to yours. It's strange when the the toys stop and all the gadgets and games (smaller but more expensive) come in. The piles are smaller, and I always think we haven't spent enough till hubby reminds me what we have spent. I dont envy you with the dentist. I am a complete chicken.

Trekkie74 - PMSL That dentist wont comment to your son again HA! ;)

Ruth_Honey - Thanks for the heads up, ordered DS a bike kit

CHRISSYG - Toes sounds sore. OW!

Freespirit66 - Yeyyy you did all the DS Challenges. well done. Make sure you report in every day so we can keep you motivated and give you a well deserved pat on the back. Your DS is a sweetie!

nitnurse-not2 - Love your challenges also. Not sure I could hold an owl, as I have a thing about beaks. You are very brave. My kids laugh at me when You've been framed is on, because I cant look when the pelicans and toucans etc come on. I am convinced they could eat my head.

I am also an unfit Mother who once ran off and left my kids (Hubby was nearby) when I found out that peacocks can fly a bit, and one flew near me at Trago Mills in Devon. I also got stranded up a climbing frame there where two peacocks lay down at the bottom to be in the shade, and I wouldn't come down till they had gone. :o

Ameyturtle - Want to come and do my house? :rotfl:

FeistyFidget - Sorry to hear about your DH. There is nothing worse than people butting in with their opinions when you are trying to deal with something like that

Hismissus - Hope things improve with your Dad
