  • My biggest problem buy this year though is my other half. We have only been together for a year in November and his Bday is shortly after. We have not really done gifts as yet. How much do I even begin to think about spending?

    Hello

The amount differs from couple to couple - there isn't really an acceptable minimum or maximum amount that should be spent.

Given that this is the first time you are buying each other gifts, maybe the best thing would be to discuss a budget for Christmas and birthday gifts for each other with your OH. That way there can be no hurt feelings if one unknowingly spents more than the other.

  • Thank Spring that is great advice, I am thinking we will go token gift route because we like eating out so would probably rather do that than spend masses on gifts - that's what happened for my birthday. But I will talk to him next time I see him

  • The m and s chocolates are they individually wrapped? I quite like the idea of getting some for sammi-Lou for Christmas. Or to go with some cookies in cups.

    Love and hugs xxx

Oooh Also, Im after a bit of advice for christmas crackers. I got some Make your own packets in Wilko last year and I'm wondering what to put in them. There will be 7 of us in total for dinner, 6 of us are adults then my DD who is 5. I will get her something easily to put in her cracker but I'm struggling for the adults. I'm wondering whether to do a £1 scratch card and maybe a small chocolate in each?

Does anyone have any better ideas? xx
asda sell little motorbikes (I think they are called adventure wheels) they are only little and do stunts. My husband loves them as much as my 3 yr old and I have bought a stash of them for men's stocking fillers this year. In ours they are in a basket at floor level in the toy aisle. They are approx £2.99. Bit of fun, boys don't grow up they only get bigger :rotfl:

Now I would like to get a mischievous elf to hide around the house throughout December. I think my little boy would really enjoy this. Where can I find one?

    Vodka Christmas cake anyone ?

    1 cup sugar,
    1 tsp. baking powder,
    1 cup water,

    1 tsp. salt ,
    1 cup brown sugar,
    Lemon juice,
    4 large eggs,
    Nuts,
    1 bottle Vodka,
    2 cups dried fruit.

Sample a cup of Vodka to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the Vodka again to be sure it is of the highest quality then Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point, it is best to make sure the Vodka is still OK. Try another cup just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 eegs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.....Pick the fruit up off the floor, wash it and put it in the bowl a piece at a time trying to count it. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver Sample the Vodka to test for tonsisticity. Next, sift 2 cups of salt, or something. Check the Vodka. Now !!!! shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the Vodka and wipe the counter with the cat.

I'm the opposite, I always put scratch cards in ours (normally the £5 ones) but struggle with my 8 & 2 year old girls!?
