Good Morning
Decs all down. Took a whole 30 minutes. And it only took that long because I had to wrap some of them up. They are all now in one large plastic box, so next year they can come down in one go rather than the 4 trips dd made this year.
I have moved a few ornaments around to make the lounge look different. I always do this. I find it takes away the bareness. I walk in and think 'oh, that looks nice there', although I do like the bareness. It is the only time my small lounge feels big.
I to don't do NYE. I find it so fake. Everyone hugging and kissing. When I used to go out I always made sure I was in the ladies at 12.:rotfl: Why would I want to be hugged by a stranger, who really doesn't give !!!! what my year is going to be like.
I bought some cards on FunkyPigeon. Thanks CHRISSYG for the heads up. Ds is 21 this year and I got him a newspaper front cover card with his picture on it.
I also bought my Dad a box set of Mohammad Ali DVDs from Boots for £5, dd a Mango set and FM a toy truck.
The toy trunk will be from my Gt Aunt. She sent him £10 this year. Which I found strange as she never sends step children anything. My Dads 4 have never had £10. So I phoned her to say thank you and that we weren't expecting anything as he wasn't really family. And she replied ' But my Dear, without us what family does he have ?'
Was planning on staying in today but have realised the car needs taxing  so will have to go to the post office later. And it is so miserable outside.
So some reason I don't count taking the dog for a walk as going out0 -
My decorations are down except for DDs tree and stuff in her room. I'll be taking the cards down today and sorting them. I'm going to get all the boxes labelled up clearly. I have an "advent" one which is all the different advent calenders, wrapping paper/cards/gift tags & this year that one will be going at the top of the pile so its easier to access
I'm just hoping that I can fit 6 boxes stacked up in the space as I can't remember how many I had in there now. :rotfl:
My window has suffered terribly this year with the condensation. But I've noticed that the only bits that have suffered are the areas which where painted with the stuff that had a drop of washing up liquid in it. So I'm thinking next year I'll just go for standard poster paint and not mix it with anythingOf course, when I come to clean it up I might change my mind and just pay out for chalk paint again :rotfl:

What about stuffed hearts, stars and gingerbread men? If you have material you only need to make a pattern on some cereal box card, cut it out, stitch and stuff.:D
There are about 50 weeks before you need to decorate the tree.
One item per week with a push on the salt dough at the beginning of December should set you up..........:):):)
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you can do.......
What a long wait:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Wishing for next Christmas already:j

This is my kitchen tree this year - a lot of changes needed to get it like the other one!
Not even sure if the other one isn't white underneath it all.
ps - let me know if this is in the wrong thread as I am new to the Christmas ones and there are so many!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
Morning everyone, i got an email this morning from M&S saying my delivery has been delayed, i wasnt worried its only crackers and wrapping paper for next christmas, then 5 mins later postman at the door with the crackers??? So they are popped away in my wardrobe, i have also just ordered two dvds in the amazon sale with survey vouchers for the xmas eve hamper, that is being cut down next year, this years one cost around £100 if not over :eek:Happy belated Christmas wishes to all it looks like everyone enjoyed their Christmas.
Nanamia I look forward to seeing your ideas and plans for your bedroom.I do enjoy decorating and planning changes to the house of courses dh is not that keen!
BBTHREE I want my lounge back now and look forward to my twig coming down, I have taken the batteries out of my singing Santa every time the pup jumps it sings lol.
His Misus I don't like nye I always think of the people I miss,we always go to close friends who understand my feelings and I don't have any alcohol I have way too many meds.
Pigpen that has made me giggle, I only received one unwanted pressi this year and i would be embarrassed to give it to the charity shop.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too BABYBOO xFeistyFidget wrote: »For those of you staying in, why not have a nye 'party' in here? I know a lot of you will be spending time with family, but there will be some that could pop on and keep each other company?
I'm talking myself out of going tonightI'm trying to think of a valid excuse not to go, which is nuts because; a. I will enjoy it once I'm there b. one of my besties isnt keen on going and it will leave her in the lurch c. My friends will be miffed that I've ditched them again d. I will enjoy it when I'm there!
It's the thought of the taxi fare homeIt's only a few miles, but I'm forseeing £30+!!!! We have a night bus, which would only be £3, but it would involve a 5 minute walk on my own back from the stop, and with my luck....... I'm even considering driving and not drinking, which is insane, because I am so nervous about not being dressed correctly, and meeting so many new people that without a drink to calm my nerves It will be intolerable
FEISTY go go go and have a blooming good night xhis_missus wrote: »Morning all,
Trying to get into a celebratory NYE spirit as actually, apart from dad being diagnosed with terminal cancer, 2013 has been a pretty good year. I'm on a job I love, I'm now debt free and financially secure, I turned 40 and had a fab party with friends and family and had a holiday of a lifetime. Went to Mr Ms and bought a few party buffet nibbles for a mini party tonight - just me and Hubby and then...
...BIL rang this morning to say dad's been taken back into hospital due to a problem with his drain. Not sure if they're just going to re-fit the drain or re-admit him for a few days. Celebratory mood bubble burst!
Think I will leave the decs up until Saturday, then have a massive clean up, as I'm working everyday this week apart from tomorrow.
Hope you have a lovely New Year's Eve, however you spend it xxx
HISMISSUS sorry to hear about your dad, he did so well to be home for christmas as well, sending you hugs x

Hi Everyone! I love reading this thread, been lurking awhile now. Just something I have to share with you all, how would you feel if your mother gave you a gift you gave her last year!? tbh I'm really cheesed off. I am tempted to say something, hubby says let it go! he's so easy going.0

Hi all,
I am a longtime lurker - read everyday and feel like iIknow you all.
I have taken the plunge and decided to join in if you will have me.
My family and I are currently living on the Algarve in Portugal and I have loved reading about all your shopping exploits and bargins - never get anything like that here - but with some adapted ideas from here I managed to make up a few hampers and homemade gifts that were all gratefully received by my fellow expats!
I will be joining in more this year as this thread brings a little piece of home to me when I read !
My B.day is 11 FEB.

It depends I suppose. Are you annoyed that she's not bought (as in spent money on) you a gift or annoyed because she's regifted something you bought her? Would you be as annoyed if you'd found out she'd given it to someone else?
Is it a gift you'd have liked to receive anyway had someone else actually bought it for you?
There are times I've regifted something because I know I won't use it rather than because I don't like it, though I do keep a note so as not to return to sender
Perhaps your mum was trying save money, Christmas can be very expensive and really it should be the thought that counts.
I once bought my bessie a necklace and told her if she didn't like to regift it back as I did....guess what I got for my birthday that year? Yup!:rotfl:0 -
Hi his missus,
I suppose it's the fact that she couldn't be bothered to make any effort. She is known for being extremely tight and doesn't bother to buy anybody anything, just give money. She is definitely not by any means struggling financially, but for me its not the amount of money spent that matters its the thought and effort taken behind each gift given. I am offended at the lack of effort and my gift was obviously unappreciated. I'm all for trying to save money, I buy most of my gifts through the year, it takes a lot of organising but most importantly this site makes it all much easier! Thanks all X0 -

Yes it does hurt if someone else does not make the effort - but not everyone shares our love of Christmas and gift buying - and I doubt you will change her. Only you know whther saying anything would be worth the effort - or cause more arguments than the worth of it.
I did get a book back from my sister once - but it was because she'd thought she had bought it for me (she's a bit forgetful) - we had such a laugh about it.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
You're right 7roland8, I won't change her! We all cringed, my grown up children were shocked and disappointed with her. We even give family photos in frames that are never on display, makes me think has she regifted the frames! Rant over! I probably won't be able to keep it in forever, I'm a leo through and through.0
