New year resolution this year:
- to keep in better touch with old friends and family not living locally;
- get a new bike and take up bike riding again when the weather improves (bought a lovely bike last year and used it for a few weeks then decided it was too big so sold it before Christmas);
- try to do better in getting my 'five a day'
I don't usually do new tear resolutions... being firmly in the mindset of why wait till new year, why not do it now... but as we are there already I thought what the heck... Basically I'm going to set too many, because really I just want the habbits back that I had this time 12months ago...
1 - Healthy eating
2 - Exercise
3 - Art
4 - Blog
5 - Organise myself...
I know I can do all those I used to... I feel like I've sort of taken a year off, so my only real resolution is to keep in contact with my friends more, and go and visit them, I've had friends living in London - 2, 3 and 6 years and I've never visited any of them!
I'm taking lil sis shopping tomorrow, have a couple of things high up on the list to look for, but I have just remembered I must get a diary!!!
Update on the blister front... having a bath near killed me, it stung so much! buttt... it did it good, it's stopped weeping, signs of healingyay! Open things like that always worry me a little when it gets that they have been like that days because of infection and my heart murmur, but it's getting better finally
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -

I have decided to face NYE and go to the club with my DH.
I am planning a "no tears...no maudlin thoughts" NYE this year.
I really don't like it but it is time faced some demons and go out there and make it a better night for me and my family.
The new me started about 2 years ago (I'm 47) and this is another hurdle to overcome....
I wish everyone what they would wish for themselves.
And me? We all know that you can't eat an elephant in one go so just to continue to move forwards and improve my families and my life bit by bit.

Good for you NITNURSE i hope you face your demons and have a wonderful time xSnap!

pixtotts,
you shouldn't pop blisters, however painful they are as you risk getting infections. As nurses we always popped blisters years ago but the view is the opposite now.. I hope they heal soon.
I think being good to yourself is really important. If you are not good then you are not at your best for family and friends. I lost my brother in an accident almost 5 years ago and when I looked back on my life I thought...Yes, I have been a good wife, mother, daughter etc but never really did much for me. So 2 years ago I began making myself do "things". My quality of life is so much better it has rubbed off onto others. We are all important but sometimes we think we should be bottom of the list.....Get yourself to the top once in a while,........

Morning everyone.
I am glad I am not alone. Other people at work always think it's weird that I don't get excited about NYE. I think I love Christmas so much that I can't be bothered with new year. I will make a resolution this year though.
I will try and do something new each month. Don't know what yet? Any ideas? The more silly the better. I think being grown up all the time isn't good for you, let out the idiot every now and again.
I have been known to race my daughter to the swings in the park & stay on there for an hour! Mind you the grown up legs hurt like hell the next day
Well best get on and do my Mum duties, or should I just leave everyone snoring and enjoy the quiet? Oh the dilemma !
Have a good day everybody0 -
For those of you staying in, why not have a nye 'party' in here? I know a lot of you will be spending time with family, but there will be some that could pop on and keep each other company?
I'm talking myself out of going tonightI'm trying to think of a valid excuse not to go, which is nuts because; a. I will enjoy it once I'm there b. one of my besties isnt keen on going and it will leave her in the lurch c. My friends will be miffed that I've ditched them again d. I will enjoy it when I'm there!
It's the thought of the taxi fare homeIt's only a few miles, but I'm forseeing £30+!!!! We have a night bus, which would only be £3, but it would involve a 5 minute walk on my own back from the stop, and with my luck....... I'm even considering driving and not drinking, which is insane, because I am so nervous about not being dressed correctly, and meeting so many new people that without a drink to calm my nerves It will be intolerable

feisty why not invite your other friend over and chill out in your pjs, she may be looking for an excuse to not go too.
Goodness me this weather is making me a little anxious I'm not really sure why I think because our power went out earlier in the year it has me on edge that it'll happen again.
Anyway I'm off to work today will pop back in later
Love and hugs xx0 -
good morning, sitting here surrounded by grandnibs with no parents in sight, lovely. Last nigt was there treat night in the hotel, they could book in anytime after 2pm, so they left here at 1 45, and I expect them back at lunchtime. DGS1 stayed over as well, so it was a 'grandma special', (chips and TV and up till 8 30), they all slept all night and DGS1 has only just woken now.
I don't like New Years Eve either, but fo those who do, hope it is a great time. My friend and her DH are in New York as she has always wanted to see the New Year in in Times Square.
Have I made any resolutions? yes, 1) to try to be a nicer person 2)to be kinder and more forgiving. 3) learn a new skill, (perhaps IT related so that I am not such a numpty) 4) to stay out of debt.
It is lovely to see all the de-lurkers posting, keep it up guys, we love you.
My deccies are still up, although the hanging baskets outside have taken a bit of a hammering with the weather, and they will come down after the littlies leave on Friday, boo hoo!
I haven't bothered with the sales, yet, again, will do it after the china delegation are away, as a distraction--my excuse. Off to make breakfast for my lovelies now, I am such a lucky, blessed lady. xxx0 -
Morning all,
Trying to get into a celebratory NYE spirit as actually, apart from dad being diagnosed with terminal cancer, 2013 has been a pretty good year. I'm on a job I love, I'm now debt free and financially secure, I turned 40 and had a fab party with friends and family and had a holiday of a lifetime. Went to Mr Ms and bought a few party buffet nibbles for a mini party tonight - just me and Hubby and then...
...BIL rang this morning to say dad's been taken back into hospital due to a problem with his drain. Not sure if they're just going to re-fit the drain or re-admit him for a few days. Celebratory mood bubble burst!
Think I will leave the decs up until Saturday, then have a massive clean up, as I'm working everyday this week apart from tomorrow.
Hope you have a lovely New Year's Eve, however you spend it xxx0 -
Morning Everyone!
His Missus so sorry to hear about your Dad! I do hope he picks up as best as he can soon and doesn't have to spend too long in hospital.
Well I'm working until 9pm this evening, so there is no going out for me. Like most though, I'm not that bothered about NYE. If I was off work then I would probably force myself into it, but I'd be driving and bored by 10pm anyway ha ha.
I'll probably go to my parents after work as they're not going anywhere as my Mums been poorly, so I'll see the NY in with them then go home ready to start early on NYD with the house sorting. Must nip home to pick up some birthday cake for Dad that my friend got me (birthdays 27th December by they way).
Tomorrow begins the huge declutter in my home. I started last summer, but with one thing and another I got sidetracked and stopped. There is no storage in my house, so everywhere is just overrun with stuff I don't need. I'll be popping some bits on ebay, sending some to the charity shops and binning a lot. I have a million books to get rid of, and they're all in excellent condition, does anyone know the best / quickest place to sell them ?
I may or may not take the tree down (only decoration I managed to get put up this year) but I certainly want to have the house in order, and sleep in a freshly made bed tomorrow - theres something amazing about fresh bedding ha ha.
I've booked myself a facial on the 2nd, huge extravagance for me, but one of my NY resolutions is to look after myself more, and this is the first step for me.
I'll probably pop on here tonight and catch up with those of you here, to those who are out then please have a lovely time
Gill x0
